The main use of the PC in my living room is as a media center. My GUI (Plex) runs in the browser and plays videos with VLC via a custom addon. Currently it is also used for browsing from time to time and I need to keep that part of it secure. As Mozilla is about to break all my addons as well as force me onto 64 bit, I've no choice but to stop updating Firefox on that PC.

I found a old post (3 years old) about running two different versions of Firefox at the same time. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/974208

Is it still possible to do this? Does the same methods still work?

I want to freeze my current 32 bit Firefox at v54.0.1 and use it only for local content. (I've already disabled updates on it)

Then I want to then install a second 64 bit Firefox v55, use it for internet, and allow it to update normally.

If this isn't possible I'll just have to switch to a different browser.

Ever since Firefox made Youtube videos only play in HTML5, no matter what quality setting I have on the video I'm watching, when I view the video on fullscreen it has low framerate. This problem does not happen with other video sites that uses Flash, like Twitch, Blip, or Dailymotion.

Is it software related to the browser or hardware related with it being HTML5?

Firefox had always been my preferred and default browser. For the last month or so, it won't open any pages (except two or three that I'm guessing are cached in the history) but Google Chrome opens everything just fine (so internet connection doesn't appear to be the issue). I am trying to run Firefox 40.0.3 on a Dell with Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit OS) from my home (cable internet with no proxy). I have Avast Free Antivirus, Malwarebytes Anti-malware and Spybot Free version installed. (I know someone will tell me not to have each of those on my machine and though the person who responds to this will undoubtedly know more than me, I have run this machine [and others] with those 3 programs for years with no problem). I do have some stupid McAfee product that I can't seem to totally get rid of that appears to be set up (from/by the manufacturer) to manage certain operations - including the firewall. The McAfee "LiveSafe - Internet Security" wants me to "buy a subscription no to stay protected."

I have tried everything written on any problem even remotely related to my problem and nothing works (reinstalled FF and other programs, deleted cert8.db files, and on and on). I honestly wonder why I even care enough to keep spending valuable time trying to find a solution - Firefox has just been such a good product for such a long time, I hate to let it totally go. Please help!!

When trying to access 2 links, that I work with on a daily basis and have done so for the last 2 years, facing the SSL_ERROR_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP error and not able to access the pages because of Secure Connection Failure.

Have had this issue in the past, but was able to bypass it by clicking on 'Advanced' button in order to add Exception.

Problem is that since 2 days ago, error started coming up but 'Advanced' button is no longer appearing as an option. So, not able to bypass it in order to connect with the pages.

Thx for the help!

I am so fed up with the error message that adobe flash plugin has crashed. You have had two years to fix this problem and all your suggested solutions do not work. I cannot see any alternative but to go back to Internet Explorer. It is so frustrating when I am checking my emails and click on a link to get the same message over and over again. Why is it that this problem only happens with Firefox? It does not happen with Internet Explorer and it does not happen with Google Chrome. Otherwise Mozilla Firefox is great.

I want something similar to “chrome://restart”, without setting “open previous tabs when started” because I restart not very often (typically to recover from some issues). I have read several previous questions about restarting Firefox, such as this one: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/952456 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1089103 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1184755 . The GCLI was the perfect solution, but it is retiring in Firefox 62. Is there an alternative solution?

It appears that most sites get my location from Mozilla Firefox. It is constantly incorrect and moves around. Today it was someplace in Texas and I live in Ohio. This is a desktop computer and doesn't move. I have set it on several sites and I don't delete my cookies but somewhere along the line it gets changed. It appears it gets changed in my Mozilla Firefox. I know you go off the dsl location or something but it just doesn't work. Even when it gets me in Ohio it's constantly a different city. How can I get a permanent location in Mozilla Firefox or disable the location finder in Mozilla Firefox?

Starting just today, whenever I try to access www.fanfiction.net, I'm getting this error message from FF:-

" Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection to www.fanfiction.net. The OCSP server has no status for the certificate. (Error code: sec_error_ocsp_unknown_cert) "

I've already tried deleting the Cert8.db and Secmod.db, and uncheck both of OCSP option in Advance Settings. Neither works. The site can be accessed fine from any other browser so this is definitely Firefox issue.

Need advice on how to fix this ASAP.

I had a Firefox crash twice in a row so lost my Restore Previous Session option (greyed out). I had a lot of important tabs open! Looking around the forum I think the data on the lost tabs is in sessionstore.js (I have sessionstore.bak too). Both contain a lot of text which looks like it has the information Firefox needs. However when I do File>Open File>filename it opens in a tab as text - how do I gt Firefox to use the data to restore my tabs? Windows7 Firefox 31.0 Thanks for any help...

Running Firefox on Windows 10 on my laptop (I upgraded from WIndows 8.1 a month or two ago), the Flash Player plugin hasn't been working and said it was out of date and that the latest version should be installed. When I try to install it I get a message

     Adobe Flash Player
     Application initialization error.

On advice I tried uninstalling the previous version and deleting the downloaded exe file before trying again, but I still get the same error message. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, and have tried rebooting my laptop between various stages (as suggested in a reply to a similar post), but whatever I try, I still get the same error message.

My Firefox updated today and all of a sudden the color of all background tabs is black. I really dislike this, and I am finding it extremely difficult on my eyes. Is there a way to change the black background of tabs so they're not so annoying? Thanks.

I have just installed Firefox 57 (Quantum) 64 bit on my PC and my Laptop (both Windows 10 (1709)).

On both my machines, Quantum displays pages appallingly slowly and often freezes, when no tabs or the settings menu can be selected and nothing else produces a response.

I cannot believe that this software has been properly tested on users' machines at their homes - its deficiencies would have been blindingly obvious. Their is clearly a huge problem here.

I was so looking forward to returning to Firefox but it is a complete disaster.

Please find a fix soon or I will have to uninstall Firefox, maybe permanently. It is useless to me in its present state.
