Hi all,
I'm on a Mac Mini running 10.9.5 and Firefox 34.0.5 (which is the latest for my system, as of this writing). I'd been running Firefox without issues for a long time, but a few days ago I started it up and found that trying to reach the following sites all result in an immediate crash: 1) GMail.com (looks like it crashes once it redirects to gmail.com/intl/en/mail/help/about.html) 2) https://www.facebook.com 3) wikipedia.org 4) https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
I'm finding that each of these addresses will cause Google Chrome to revert to its "Aw Snap!" error message — but Safari will display all of them without any problem.
Here are some things I've tried to solve this: 1) zapped PRAM, reset SMC, ran Apple Hardware Test, repaired disk permissions; 2) COMPLETELY uninstalled Firefox and all associated files/preferences, then started over with a completely new profile; 3) completely uninstalled both Flash and Java, then reinstalled them (I do need Java, unfortunately); 4) ran Firefox in Safe Mode, which doesn't solve the problem; 5) did a whole bunch of things to ensure that all the fonts on my system are valid, and are where they need to be
The only thing that's worked so far is to restart my Mac in Safe Boot Mode, and that plus the fact that these sites crash Firefox and Chrome but not Safari are my only clues... I just don't know what to make of them.
Anyone have any ideas? Something all those sites have in common maybe?
Firefox crashes spontaneously and frequently
Mac Mavericks 10.9.5
Firefox 34.0.5 all updated
What causes this? And the fix?
"a web page is slowing down your browser" why?
I have noticed the the yellow message "a web page is slowing down your browser" What triggers this message in FF.

Why it happens? Is it dangerous? How can I turn it off?
I saw that on the latest Firefox release for Mac and on Firefox ESR 31.2.0 for Mac I saw that on Thunderbird release for Mac 31.2.0

After refreshing firefox, my stored passwords did not work. I moved the key3.db and logins.json files in from old firefox data. Now most passwords are stored again, but some specific websites seem to have password-related issues just on Firefox:
- my pge.com account won't let me make a new password. However it works fine in Chrome.
- my nest.com account won't let me update the saved password. However it works fine in Safari.
I don't see the pattern, except that it's password-related and Firefox related. Any thoughts?

Hi, my pc got infected with this "safefind" malware. I managed to remove it and clean my pc from it, and I notices it spread to chrome and internet explorer. After extensive cleaning a problem still persists is that when I close the browser so any case by clicking "x" and reopen it, it does not retain opened pages that i kept before closing and it runs as if i have the don't keep pages from last session is switched off. now the problem spread to chrome and ie too and i thought some kind of a windows problem until i synced my fire fox account to my Macbook and the problem popped up.
Any help would be appriciated. thank you.
Firefox Developer Edition won't update itself.
Since the start of this May, I haven't been receiving Firefox Developer Edition OTA update. I can only update Firefox by downloading the disk image.

Hi! My firefox version is 54.0.1. I simply can't login to my Google accounts because the next button is not responding. Also, I noticed some sites where login is concerned also doesn't work. It also has this weird security wherein even visa application sites doesn't work and requires an exception in order for it to properly function like the Taiwan Embassy site. Please help. Thanks.

If i log into our Corporate SharePoint server, i get 401 Unauthorized. The reason why is because when i go to the URL (local FQDN), this version of firefox does not ask me for a username/password. It just goes right to 401 Unauthorized.
I need to make firefox ask me for a user/pass.
I have searched the forums and cannot find anything. I have tried to changed the privacy settings under preferences for the History, and when i change it to "Use Custom Settings for History", when i restart firefox, its changed back to "Remember History"
This has caused our company a lot of grief when they all updated to this latest version and now no one can login. We have told them to use a different browser for now.
This use to work in all previous versions of FireFox.
Please help.
Thanks

Hello, Ive got Quantum 63.01 running on macbook pro. Yahoo barging in as the 'default search engine'. I go to my preference page I delete it, google is back to being my default search engine. A few days later, boom- there is yahoo again showing up as the default. This goes on several times a week, and its driving me nuts. If I didnt like yahoo before, I really hate them now. Ive gone through all of your solutions, there is nothing in my extensions or add-ons that shouldnt be there. So why does this continue to happen? I need to get rid of yahoo now. I even ran yahoo through the finder and there is nothing on my laptop for yahoo. Isnt there a script I can look for in firefox that can be deleted or something?? Any and all help is truly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The solution below no longer works. My current version of Firefox is 64.0.2
When did this problem start for you?
On Mac, Firefox 56 ratcheted up the security sandbox, limiting which files pages can use on your system. This apparently prevents Firefox from using font files in a "suitcase" or "Adobe Type 1" format. The developers are aware of this and some fixes were made in Firefox 57, but they might have missed some font types or unexpected font file locations.
To see whether this is the problem, and as a temporary workaround, you can reduce the sandbox security level back to what it was in Firefox 52-55 as follows:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Return. Click the button accepting the risk.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste sand and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the security.sandbox.content.level preference and change the value from 3 to 1 and click OK
That change won't take effect until the next time you quit and restart Firefox
