I'm on the latest version of Firefox, and it's unable to play videos on Amazon.com & Netflix.com. Neither did the one before 96.0. I first saw this on Netflix.com and when the tech started asking questions about my operating system, I knew they had pulled a fast one. Now Amazon.com has done the same thing with Firefox. This browser should be hiding the underlying operating system, because it's not necessary. I can use both websites with Chrome and have no issue. The same version of Firefox is on my laptop, but it has no problems because that thing is on Windows 10.

I won't bother with all the nonsense written about troubleshooting, because this is strictly the functionality of those websites peeking under the browser to check the O.S. Firefox needs to fix this hole immediately! You're messing with my money now. Monopolies shouldn't be able to control our hardware like this; they're not paying for any of it.

Oh, my TV is having a problem with the apps, so I was forced to watch videos with my computer instead. My laptop screen is too small and can't have my booming speakers connected to it. My desktop monitor is 34".

Hi, I know this already Faqs about this problems: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-cant-load-websites-other-browsers-can But the things is, it's not works at all. Even it could, it only for few minutes and the problems keeps appears. And oddly, If you ignore it for several minutes or an hour, Firefox suddenly can open websites again. This problems keep appears in my 2 laptop. I already try anything including reinstall firefox, and it's just temporal solutions. Can you check what actually happened? Cause this problems not only me but also the other users. I already ask my colleague and my friend, they have same problems, and the solution you give isn't working at all. Thank you.

With the browser open now, its using a high amount of CPU and the power usage is Very High. Nothing is open because it won't load anything. No error messages, just stuck with the little dot going side to side. I used chrome to download and install an update, but still nothing.

Firefox has no idea it's online anymore. It just pretends it's working.

This started a short time ago. I had walked away from my system for a bit (which I do frequently throughout the day with no issues). When I returned, Firefox didn't know it was online. I tried Waterfox, it worked fine. Well, I need Firefox, so I closed out of Firefox to reboot it. It briefly worked for one page. Then it promptly forgot it was online.

I rebooted the entire system. Firefox boots but otherwise is completely unresponsive to typing URLs, choosing URLs from bookmarks or favorites or whatever. I'm now writing this through Waterfox. But I can't use Waterfox because I'd have to import every last password, every last everything. I can't work this way.

What's wrong with Firefox? Why doesn't it know how to do anything online anymore? It doesn't give an error message, it just sits and pretends it's doing something, but it does nothing.

I have hours of work and no way to do anything. I don't know how to recover Firefox from this mess.

I can't even begin to guess at the Firefox version here because it's attempting to update, which of course it can't because it doesn't remember it's online. It should be the latest one as of sometime earlier, no idea when. It updates automatically.

Thank you for your time.

So firefox doesn't load any webpages, can't check for updates and when I try to open it in Troubleshooting mode it crashes (or when i try anything that requires a restart such as clearing startup cache, Refresh Firefox etc. , it crashes). It also crashes when quitting with Command + Q.

What I have tried: Basically everything stated in this article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-cant-load-websites-other-browsers-can

I also saw that firefox can't check for updates, so I'm guessing it can't connect to the internet? (Other browsers work fine: Safari, Chrome)

OS: MacOs 12.1 Monterey CPU: Apple M1 Pro 8C/14C RAM: 16GB

I don't have MacOS or any firewall active.

A few days ago there was a Firefox update and this morning suddenly GeckoMain started (out of nowhere) using the CPU at 80% (which lead to the CPU fan going nuts). I opened the gnome system monitor and it showed that GeckoMain was overusing the CPU. There's also a process running called "Privileged Content". For as long as this additional process is running, Firefox is behaving as if there were no internet access - infinite time to load any page and if left undisturbed, after a while Firefox closes with a crash message. Also, for as long as this problem is happening, simply closing Firefox with the X button doesn't close it - GeckoMain is still running and the only way to actually close the browser is "killall GeckoMain". So I removed all extensions one by one in order to make sure it's not an extension causing this. It's not. Even after removing all extensions the problem continued which lead me to believe something in my prefs.js is causing it. There were so many things modified in about:config over the years that I have no idea which one might be causing the problem. I have uploaded the prefs.js file here, so that you can review it, if needed: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1j-EAaeBrcawRfzrIr4n9Pg6IyvM9zROV/view?usp=sharing

At the moment I'm writing this question through Waterfox bc Firefox is unuseable with this problem.

While using Firefox my web pages suddenly stopped loading. Checked my wifi, it's all good. I rebooted my computer, still they won't load. Ran a malware scan, pc is clean. Checked other apps that use internet, they all work. Tried to open Firefox in troubleshoot mode since I figure it's probably an add on. When I hit the restart button, instead of confirming I want to use troubleshoot mode, nothing happens. Go to uninstall it, they ask if I want to refresh instead so I say yes. Browser refresh works for about 30 seconds and then stops loading the pages again. This time I completely uninstall and reinstall it, same thing, works a few seconds and then breaks again. If anyone has more solutions I can try, I'd be very grateful. Thanks in advance.

Was using my browser firefox, watching a yt vid and clicked to watch another vid and it stopped having network access. Confirmed firewall isn't blocking anything (even disabled it) and no proxy being used. Reinstalled 96.0 (was on like 95.X) no change --- update option in settings has no network access so I just downloaded it on another browser & installed (left the temp files alone) same issue.

This is a software issue with Firefox, not a computer issue. Nothing was updated or change on the computer either and it just stopped working while on youtube. Restarted PC, no change. Disabled a few exts like adblocker & no change.

PC is running macos 11.6, 96.0 firefox.

Thank you for any help.
