I have only just started using Firefox but I've noticed a strange "feature" (I'm not sure if it's a feature or a bug, thus the quotes). I'm used to Opera and IE where by when I double click some text the text will be automatically selected. Firefox does something like this but for some reason I don't yet understand it adds an extra space at the beginning or end of the selection. This is a problem for someone like me who for work does a lot of copy and paste. I use web software that is intolerant of extra spaces and this feature/bug is going to end up causing some major issues. Is there a way to alter this behavior so that it behaves more like all my other computer programs? Your help is greatly appreciated.

I just got a new computer and am trying to set Firefox up as my browser. I can't find anything about how to keep multiple tabs up when closing Firefox and then coming back in later. They're all gone and I have to start over. The only FAQ Ican find asks how to DROP multiple tabs.... I want the opposite. Please help... I do NOT want to go to Internet Explorer.

Thanks you.

A search of Mozilla Help only throws up mentions in passing of Mozbackup by people who have used it. So what is it? And why doesn't it appear as part of installing Firefox, instead of me having to hunt for it  ?

I gather it may be be needed for Firefox and Thunderbird backups since proprietary backup programs somehow fail to deal with them successfully. Is this really the case ? And how would it work combining two different back-ups ? (scratches tiny head)

Thanks for your help

P.S. running W7 ultimate but OS and indeed system not really an issue.

Ok, so I have lost out on some downloads, that were rather large, because I closed firefox.

When I used to close firefox, my download would still keep going. The firefox icon at the bottom of the screen on the taskbar, would show a translucent green download indicator. I could even click on it to check the progress with more detail.

Why on earth would this be changed, to totally cancel downloads when shutting firefox? Is there a way to stop this? I want the behavior of.. Close firefox, download is still going.

I simply want to acknowledge that I resolved the situation about which I posed a question to Mozilla support yesterday. I neglected to mention that I had already tried all the seemingly straightforward methods suggested in answers received to the question. I was finally able to restore download capability by undoing the change that was made to the TEMP & TMP variables, environmental variables under system information, that was done when my daughter followed instructions in her C++ class. We share laptops, and I did not know that the computer was being modified at the system level to possible the installation of the g++ compiler and its use.

I deleted the 'extra' from the path: C:\Documents and Settings\Customer\Local Settings\Temp;C:\Temp, the extra C:\Temp and downloading capability was restored. Thank all for attention to the question and the time taken to offer helpful advice, Comfuddled

I recently upgraded to Firefox 24.0. I use Windows 7

It used to be that any time I clicked on a link to download anything, I would be given the chance to choose where I wanted to save whatever I was downloading. The item would also be saved in the download file or directory.

But now, when I click a link to download anything, it just automatically saves to the download directory without giving me the chance to save it somewhere else. So if I want the file somewhere else, I have to open the download directory and move it where to where I want it.

How do I set Firefox so it is like it was before, so that it gives me a choice of where I want to save a download before it starts downloading it? Thanks.

Print Preview - Zoom.

When I zoom it changes the size of the page on displayed on the screen and it also changes the font-size of the text being displayed.

Is this a glitch or am I doing something wrong.

Incidentally I need both the features... i.e. I want to be able change the size of the page as it is being displayed and I also want to be able to change the size of the content on the page - but I would like separate selection boxed / controls for each.
