A few days back out of nowhere I started getting network error 2000 on Twitch while streaming. I tried all possible ways to fix it on my own. But sadly I failed miserably. Then, I started searching for other alternatives to fix this issue. While going through different forums and discussions website, I found that I am not the only one who is getting this error. So, I decided to post this thread on this forum site so that I can help other going through the same problem. After searching and trying lots of foolish ways mentioned by some articles, I finally hopped into the savior. Every Sunday at approx the same time my firefox app and browsers close and Firefox restarts. When it restarts it doesn't bring up the previous tabs I had open and it doesn't give me the option to restore even though that option is always checked. I also have re set my search preferences. I don't lose any bookmarks or history. I've uninstalled, and re installed. Same thing happens. This never happened previously and would love nothing more than to solve this mystery. Thank you much for any help !! Ronnie

Firefox is simply not working. This error has been been there for last half hour. I tried purge-reinstalling it, restarting the PC but no use. Only thing I can do is open or close new tab or window, no searching works, not refresh button, not bookmarks, not preferences. Nothing is working. Even on-device html files are not showing.

OS: Ubuntu 18.4.5 LTS Firefox Version: 87.0 (Build: 87.0+build3-0ubuntu0.18.04.2)

Only features working:

  • Open / close new tab / window, new private tab / window
  • Zoom controls (but there's nothing to see, so I just see the numbers changing)
  • View Bookmarks (only through the library popup and the links don't open)
  • View History (only through the library popup and the links don't open)
  • Troubleshooting Information page [about:support] (I've included the data)
  • Refresh Firefox
  • Restart with Add-ons disabled / Clear startup cache (Closes firefox but idk if it actually did anything, then crashes when restarting firefox.
  • About Firefox
  • Crashes page [about:crashes] (I managed to report 2 recent crashes)

PS: I just tried reverting to only other version available on Ubuntu (59.0.2+build1-0ubuntu1) and it doesn't work either. Screenshots and Troubleshooting Info attached for this version also.

Recently I installed an upgrade and since then I can't play youtube videos embeded on pages or straight from youtube. I get the message: 'Did Not Connect: Potential Security Issue

Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to www.youtube.com because this website requires a secure connection.

What can you do about it?

www.youtube.com has a security policy called HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), which means that Firefox can only connect to it securely. You can’t add an exception to visit this site.'

I also can't play videos from an online course I have been doing for weeks and a webinar series but at the beginning of the webinar series a few days ago I could. I'm now getting the message: "The media could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported."

I'm having to use Chrome to access all these things and I hate Chrome. I'm not tech savy so please help.

I have my system up to date and no updates are available. The O.S. runs fine with the exception until I launch firefox which causes what I would describe as a SEVERE screen tearing. The description would be LARGE horizontal bands of angled multi colored squares on both of my monitors. I am unable read or distinguish anything! However when I type on the keyboard I can see the large squares changing colors. This may be a graphic display issue. A push of the power button restart is now required.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox which changed nothing

I can use Epiphany Browser, and run other applications just fine even FooBilliard++ with no issues until I launch firefox.

Thanks Kadetsr

I followed instructions so I was in Safe Mode this is the URL: ttps://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems#w_1-restart-your-computer I have no idea if I am in safe mode or not. Followed instructions to disable add-ons which I did. Next instruction was to clear History, cache, and something else. Next instruction was to restart with add-ons disabled but it didn't say that. It said retart with add-ons enabled, under "Help". I'm at a complete loss. I didn't know I was having any problems with Firefox in the first place. However, when I turned on my computer this morning a completely different wallpaper, one of my photos, showed up, not the usual background. I don't know where to go from here. I need help. It's frustrating when the instructions use different wording than the information on the screen. This URL is where I started: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems#w_1-restart-your-computer. Since two days I can't connect to any websites or getting options page directly. Enter about:config, about:preferences also doesnt work in the url bar. (The url is also suggesting theses pages.)

I already reset Firefox, changed the profile, cache cleared. Event a full purge with apt purge firefox and removing any firefox files didnt resolved my problem.

If I'm clicking in the top right menu>preferences, this doesnt launch the tab.

The only thing working is passing by the top right menu>help>troubleshooting informations. Only on this page I can replace about:support by about:preferences in the url bar and now I can get the preferences... If I try to enter a url like google.com in the same place, it's loading but spinning indefinitely.

Firefox is the only browser getting this kind of problem.

Downgrading to 86.0 release or use developper edition didnt work.

It's the first time in so many years that I'm getting this. I don't know where the solution can be.

Thanks by advance.

Hi all!

I'm having an issue where Firefox is only remembering that I'm signed into certain accounts.

Let me explain what I mean:

Firefox has no problem remembering that I've signed into my Google account or my Amazon account. However, every time I close and open Firefox, it reloads three extension pages (evernote, twoseven, and pushbullet if you're curious) as though I had JUST installed them for the first time and asking me to sign in to them.

In addition, if I attempt to use Google's text for web feature, I have to sign back in with my phone (scan a QR code) if I close the window at all, even if I select the option for Google to "Remember this browser".

Obviously these could be separate issues, but they seem related to my lay understanding. Would appreciate any help. Thanks!

When I go to firefox preferences and then go to "search," I try to click on the arrow below "default search engine" but nothing comes up. When I try to search in the address bar, it takes me to websites named after the first word I typed. When I tried searching in a separate tool bar, I'd type something, hit enter, and nothing would happen. Please help, this is very annoying because whenever I want to search something I have to type google and then type my question in on the actual google website.

This 'feature' annoys me so much. One, because its has no benefit and two, after FF75 it's not possible to disable it.

I like to discuss why someone thinks one click select all is useful. It's more common to edit your url/search input instead of type a complete new one. Selecting a part of your input or just input the cursor at a specific location gets really disturb by this 'feature'. In 30 years i use computers, this behavior have never been useful and when needed to select all, the click-swipe-release action is even as easy. Beside this, the decades old CTRL-A function is even as fast and useful.

More and more of this behavior is pushed at users on the web and i really don't see why. Can someone tell me why this behavior is invented? And how to disable it in newer FF versions?

Firefox Portable unusable: How to Fix the “Firefox Is Already Running” Error

Hi there I have a very annoying problem with Firefox Portable from portableapps.com. I have the latest available version as of today, Windows 10 Home 64 bit, 8GB RAM note… (funda kabanzi)

Hi there

I have a very annoying problem with Firefox Portable from portableapps.com. I have the latest available version as of today, Windows 10 Home 64 bit, 8GB RAM notebook, all Windows updates installed.

Because I had many tabs + 2, 3 windows open when I started the notebook from hibernation, it was taking a bit long for it to completely "wake up", so I decided to close Firefox, which I assume was taking most memory via Taskmanager, something I have done countless times before, on this notebook. Usually you see "Mozilla Firefox, Portable edition..." under "Apps" & "Background processes" in the Taskmanager. I was in a hurry and started with closing the Firefox instance I saw under Background processes, before going to quickly close the instances under Apps.

I have never ever had a problem with closing Firefox or any process before via the task manager.

When I tried to start Firefox shortly after that, I got the error message another instance was running & I should first close it, although there was clearly none visible in the Task manager, that I should first close! I also tried another instance of Firefox portable I have at another location, same problem.

I re-started the notebook and to my surprise, I now get the error message whenever I try to start Firefox portable like I have done thousands of times before, although no one has started any instance before. This is very frustrating, since it has my bookmarks & other settings but cannot use it and no other instance or Portable firefox installed elsewhere is usable!!.

How can I urgently resolve this?

UPDATE: I have a a separate version of Firefox installed from THIS site, ie. not the portable version mentioned above, which I rarely use. Originally, after noticing the above problem, I tried it out & it worked BUT right now, it is also showing the same error when I try to start, although as said there is no indication in the task manager that any instance of firefox is running. I am using this Firefox version for the first time today, since I normally use the portable version, but out of the blue, it is also suddenly not starting. What coould be triggering a problem I have never heard, except years ago, when I had a similar problem, but at least then, one could see an instance in the Task manager, that was for some reason not closing when one closed Firefox? At that time, I think there was a fault solved subsequently by an update.

So now I have 2 problems, with a fresh version of Firefox installed from this site but never used, except today + Firefox Portable, both currently unusable.

Was the problem closing the instance under "Background processes" before that under "Apps" in task manager which caused some corruption (of what/where??), although as I have said, I have over these many years never had any issue with closing any program whatever the order in task manager. How could that have affected the Firefox installed from this site but never used except today, because i certainly did not close it in any unusual way????

Thank for your quick response.
