Mozilla Firefox 78.8.0esr, Debian 10.9 (x86-64), no add-ons, and none of the pages are loading.

Hi everyone, just wanted to check if someone had this issue before or knows a solution please. Since yesterday, non of the pages in Firefox are loading. On the same computer, using other browsers there are no issues at all.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox. Purged it as well. Tested with a new profile, (firefox -P...) , same results, nothing loads. No error messages or anything. I will just have the small loading dash on the firefox tab and that's it.

I can't even access localhost, or the troubleshooting settings or the web developer tools. Nothing will open at all.

I found this thread mentioning that it might be related to libnss3. But I have the most recent and stable version available already installed: 2:3.42.1-1+deb10u3

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=981184

I uninstalled firefox, removed the folder .mozilla and just tried to make sure no trace of Firefox is left. Reinstalled it again, same thing...

I have a VPN, and the same results also with or without the VPN connected.

Any ideas please?

Thanks! Have a good day!

I have used Firefox for many years problem free, it is my default browser. I am now attempting to open the Firefox home page so I can add a trusted address (one that Firefox will not open- I get a similar file not found message) but it will not open. All I get is this message File not found

Firefox can’t find the file at jar:file:///C:/Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/browser/omni.ja!/chrome/en-US/locale/branding/browserconfig.properties.

I have reinstalled Firefox and it is still my default browser, but no change. In all other respects, no problems.

Raspberry Pi 4B Raspberry Pi OS -- Fully updated OS. Firefox 78.9.0esr (32-bit) -- Latest and greatest for Raspberry Pi OS.

Some videos I am getting no sound. I try the effected videos in Chromium for Raspberry Pi OS and it works fine. I read about a possible fix and tried disabling hardware acceleration with no effect. I also blew out all the cookies,. history and stored site data. Each attempt closing and reopening Firefox. Same thing on the same videos, no sound in Firefox but fine in Chromium.

Any tips or pointers?

i don't know if the problem lies within firefox or not. i am able to sign into the site via chrome tho. when i try to sign into spectrum (as i have many times w/o issue) it does some blinking or flashing loading type thing and ends with this message: -- We're sorry, something didn't work quite right. Please try again. IDID-1060 --. this is going on for 3? weeks now. i have called tech support through spectrum with no help. they could get in on their end and we changed pw's but it didn't help me. also--and i have no idea if this matters at all, but it disturbs me... the padlock right beside the address box says -verified by amazon-. why is that? at times when i have hovered that at websites, it says verified by, and the name of my security service. i can't 100% say that i have checked it when signing into spectrum tho, but still i don't understand why it would say amazon! i much prefer using firefox! but i also feel like i shouldn't have to use chrome part time to get to certain sites or do certain things. PLEASE PLEASE help me figure this out.

P.S. i am already forced to use chrome to play games on facebook for years now. except bingo blitz, which is odd to me. i can play that through firefox. sighs.

Typing the problem in the quote marks in the search box yields over 400 identical questions. So obviously this is a known problem with FF, and hopefully with Mozilla.

With me it happens on Facebook. Clicking "wait" basically does nothing, clicking "stop it" it basically stops the page from loading, so you can't post a message or have any interaction with the site whatsoever.

All along I'm watching the CPU at a constant 50%-60%, and memory for one tab of FB going up steadily from 400 MB to 1.2 GB (almost like a memory leak).

Now, my laptop has really limited specs, 3 GB RAM, Win 7, 10 years old. So I thought the laptop is probably to blame. Till I did the following experiment: Let's try Edge, with the exact same tabs, exact same sites.

So, one tab of the same FB page + one tab of Yahoo Mail -> FF: 60% of CPU, 1.5 GB of memory (and counting). Edge: 10%-15% of CPU, 500-600 MB of memory, and FB smooth as silk.

Any suggestions/solutions are welcome.

I have noticed that if I leave an empty firefox tab open after sometime the empty tab somehow would start using a large amount of RAM. I don't know if it is expected behaviour or not. I came to know about this problem as I use a laptop and I very rarely put it to sleep, so my laptop would idle out on charging with a empty firefox tab open and it would start out with consuming reasonable amount of RAM but after I return mabye after 20 minutes and the RAM usage would skyrocket to about a gig for only firefox with that empty tab. I do have 4 add-ons installed but firefox behaves the same when I restart it in safe mode. Any help is very much appreciated.

Hello, the problem with Firefox is that it loads the pages too slow, other browsers such as Chrome or Opera are working correctly. At first everything was fine but suddenly Firefox started to take forever to load the pages. I have completely uninstalled Firefox and installed it again but the problem persists. I thought it was a problem with some extension (I only use AdBlocker and HttpsEverywhere) but restarting it in safe mode the problem persists. I also have to mention that the Ubuntu installation is recent. What could be the problem?. I am using Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS.

With every update, Firefox becomes more and more unusable. It's been 20 minutes so far on this morning's session, but the tab won't open. And Options won't let me clear data as those tabs are dark. It's hard to be nice when I read these same complaints in forums all over the internet. It's only getting worse, and the recommendations are always the same -- clear your cache, remove extensions, blah, blah, blah. No, nothing works! It's time to blow it up and start over. Not to mention that it's always crashing or not responding. It's just about as useless as Edge and Chrome. What a pity. (Oh, I just noticed -- 27 minutes later -- that the Clear Cache tab is now active. Better late than never, I suppose.)
