Since the release of V96.0.2, Firefox has repeatedly crashed at random times, including when first loading pages. It occurs on several websites, including Google search, WashingtonPost.com, and the Firefox support page.

I have turned off the automatic acceleration feature per help article suggestion.

'Open links in new tab' and 'When you open a link, image or media in a new tab, switch to it immediately' settings do not work, even in safe mode. I'm on Version 96.0.2.
Changing these settings manually also does not solve the issue, tabs still open in the current window:
browser.search.openintab and make sure its value is set to true.
browser.urlbar.openintab and browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInTabs set to true.
Only thing that works for this function is CTRL + Click. Shouldn't these settings work if applied?
Thanks.

I am using Windows 10 on a desktop computer with all current updates, including all drivers using Driver Booster 9. It occasionally crashes - usually blue screen error video TDR failure, ndlddmkm.sys.
After one crash yesterday, no saved login information came up on Firefox - no user ID or password.
In C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\z9j81sb8.default there were seven corrupt logins files, logins.json.corrupt and logins.json-1.corrupt to logins.json-6.corrupt, the last of these with a date modified showing the day of that crash, i.e. yesterday's date. Renaming this to the logins.json didn't restore any logins when Firefox restarted. I tried a couple of others too, and the logins.json from my laptop. None gave me my logins back.
There is no folder on my Desktop.
This has been VERY inconvenient. I have been relying on Firefox, and know only a some passwords. Thank goodness I always ignored Firefox's offer to generate a password for me.

Hello, I'm encountering multiple crashes from firefox per day. Even after refreshing it twice.
I've sent in multiple reports as well. Not sure if they can accessed to troubleshoot.
I feel like it's video related? It only started doing this at about the time I started using a TV as a second screen. There isn't a real strong correlation with the crashes. Sometimes Youtube, Messenger, Reddit, it acts very stubborn to load different pages I click on google and then crashes. The page will be missing usually when I reopen firefox as well.
I've attached an image of a recent crash. I don't always get these error messages either.
Appreciate some help.

Hello, Before I updated to version 96, Firefox was FAST, loaded almost instantly, and worked great. Now, it takes 90 seconds to load and even longer to open a link. I can hear the HD seeking constantly only when Firefox has loaded. Using Win7 64bit, HP Envy tower with core i7 3.2 Ghz, resource meters: CPU almost zero, memory about 25%. Thanks Steve

Firefox is MUCH slower, even in safe mode, than other browsers. The picture that shows a download speed of 223.44 Mbps is Chrome with all extensions enabled. The second picture shows Firefox in Safe Mode with my internet security on pause. How do I fix?
Thanks.

I'm running Windows 10 Home 21H2 and Firefox 96.0.2.
Former Firefox shortcuts have been changed to actual files with a .url extention on the desktop.
For example, a shortcut named Sinkinson Ancestry became Sinkinson Ancestry.com.url My Chrome shortcuts are unaffected (see attached images)
I can't find the performance in More Tools, in the Turn Troubleshoot mode too.

In my settings I have enabled that FF asks me where to save files whenever I click on a download or choose 'save as'. This works... until it doesn't. For no reason and at random times Firefox stops asking me where I want to save downloads. It also doesn't download them automatically. It basically ignores any commands to 'save as' or download files like PDFs. The only thing that fixes the problem is restarting FF.
I'm on the latest macOS with the latest FF version, but this has also occurred on previous versions of FF.
Any suggestions?

As a member of the American Sociologial Association I have the ability to download PDF copies of ASA journal articles. Firefox simply will not work. So I switch to Safri and it works fine. I assume that Firefox security protections or something is blocking me. I cannot find any information in support for this problem. In Firefox I go in circles between this screen (attached) and logging into ASA. In Safari I download the article without this problem.
Can you direct me to a trouble shooting guide so that I know what to turn off when I want to download the articles without having to switch to Safari?

I have JavaScript on WIN 10 OS. For the past 3 days when I try to log onto AOL, using Firefox, I get a message that says "JavaScript disabled although I have not done anything to disable it and I don't know how to enable it. It worked one time after I refreshed Firefox but I can't refresh Firefox each time I want to enter my email.
Would anyone be kind enough to advise me. I just started using Firefox a few weeks ago and I love it but I can only stay in love with it if it works properly.
I will sincerely appreciate any guidance that anyone can give me. Thank you for your time and attention.
David

Hi,
thanks for volunteering. In my gmail account the UI and images have virtually disappeared. Other than routine updates, I've added no additional add-ons.
I have malware bytes running.
Ideas or where / how to start troubleshooting?
Your previous suggestion did not work. Is there a setting in "about:config" that I could change?

I open "Manage Bookmarks." I open "Library." In "Search Bookmarks," I enter what I'm searching for, assume NY Times.' All the Times links are displayed. I see in the "Name" field at the bottom that I misspelled a word in a displayed link; e.g., "Pul" instead of "Paul." I go to the "Name" field, add the missing "a", then click on an adjoining link. The edit does not take place - like it used to.
How do I edit the "Name" field in the library?
(NB: Firefox 96.0.2)

Hello. First, fantastic work on the browser! Second, recently my secure connection to a specific site keeps dropping. I use Firefox to connect to tutanota.com (de). I have HTTPS Everywhere and uBlock Origin installed. Before recently, I never encountered this issue, now it's happening every day. When I first log in it's working as expected, zero issues. After about 30 minutes to an hour I now see the error stating that my connection is not encrypted, and mentions something about loading external images. I already told the support team at Tutanota that I have no images loading, but it's still showing the error. They said the connection should still be secure, but that doesn't make sense if the browser itself is saying it's not secure. It happened around the time where I also had DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials installed as well, but I have since uninstalled that add-on. Still showing error. Please advise.
