I just switched back to Firefox and found that now when you download a file, you have to click on the little arrow next to the status bar to see the downloaded files.

I much prefer the way Chrome handles this. Whenever you download a file, it automatically shows a bar at the bottom of the screen showing the file progress, so you can immediately take actions like cancelling, or navigating to the file directory.

Is it possible to have Firefox display the downloads window automatically whenever you download a file?

Thanks! -Alterius

I just tried to print a list for the browser on Firefox and the new print options are useless. I use to be able to simplify, change background and have more options. This looks like the printing options on Microsoft Edge. I started using Firefox to get away from that. I mean if your going to mimic edge then why not use that browser instead??? Stop changing things. You update every 5 minutes and then it crashes, is to slow or just doesn't work. Slow the hell down and remember people like Firefox because it isn't like the big companies out there. It's a good browser. Leave it alone.

While I appreciate the recent improvements to the Firefox Print interface and features, there are still lingering formatting issues that have existed for a very long time. The most common issue is that portions of content get cut off between pages. Here is one example:

https://www.nolas.com/home/#menus - click FOOD category near top - open Print (does not matter if "Save to PDF" or printer is selected) - default print settings

In the print preview (left side), printed page or saved PDF there are missing parts of text: - beginning of page 4 cuts off from "SHARE PLATES" to half-way through the first item's description. - top of page 8 (under "NOLA CLASSICS") one of the 6 items is missing entirely.

This issue remains even when using different scale factors.

Tested on current software: - Firefox 86.0.1 (new profile) - macOS 10.12 -through- 10.15

Hi, I have a weird issue with firefox upon the initial launch. When I turn on the computer and click on the firefox icon, it shows microsoft bing then I close that tab and I'm back to the firefox homepage on the next tab. It's like somehow it's merged with firefox and I tried adjusting the settings and nothing works.

Hello, I am a keyboard user. I am wondering if there is a way to prevent the bookmarks menu from auto-closing after I open a bookmark in a new tab?

I have already tried setting "browser.bookmarks.openInTabClosesMenu" to FALSE, but this seems to only work for mouse-users, who can then ctrl+click a bookmark and it will open in a new tab while leaving the menu open where it was.

Is there an equivalent setting for keyboard users? So you can press ctrl+enter on a bookmark with similar results? Or perhaps a different key combination other than ctrl+enter, for which the bookmarks menu won't auto-close?

Thanks.

When I use Gmail in my up-to-date Firefox under Windows 10 or Linux and type e.g. "Leser und Leserinnen", then exit the draft and reopen it, "und Leserinnen" is gone. This happens to all tested feminine forms ending with "-innen", even irregular or non-existing ones, if they follow the masculine form and " und " (both preceded and followed by exactly one space). The truncation is case insensitive, and when I type the feminine form first, "innen" will be cut, and " und [masculine]" as well. Turning off auto-correction didn't help. Also, when I send a mail containing such a double form, it arrives correctly, but in my sent mails " und [feminine]" is gone. However, when I then open "forward" or "reply" with repetition of the sent mail, the deleted words are back in place. None of this happens when I use another browser or an E-Mail client or the Gmail app on my phone, nor does it happen with other mail providers, not even when using Firefox. I know this sounds weird, as if there were an automatic "politically incorrect maker". But it is exactly what happens. I wonder if anyone can replicate the phenomenon or - even better, find out why it occurs.

With every update, Firefox becomes more and more unusable. It's been 20 minutes so far on this morning's session, but the tab won't open. And Options won't let me clear data as those tabs are dark. It's hard to be nice when I read these same complaints in forums all over the internet. It's only getting worse, and the recommendations are always the same -- clear your cache, remove extensions, blah, blah, blah. No, nothing works! It's time to blow it up and start over. Not to mention that it's always crashing or not responding. It's just about as useless as Edge and Chrome. What a pity. (Oh, I just noticed -- 27 minutes later -- that the Clear Cache tab is now active. Better late than never, I suppose.)

I have been waiting with the upgrade to 91.0 due to the many reports of bugs. I would be most concerned about anything causing problems with bookmarks and settings. I really do not need any headaches and problems caused by new versions.

Were the reported bugs fixed and if not yet, when will they be fixed? Thanks.

So, for about a month or so now I have been experiencing random freezing in Firefox on my home PC running Windows 7 (I know it's outdated, it's by choice). I'm pretty certain it started after a specific update, but at this point can't tell which one.

Here's the behavior itself:

Firefox completely freezes and soon after the window turns white and a 'Firefox stopped responding' dialog pops up. After I close Firefox, I am able to restart it normally. However, at restart, it says 'Oops, there was a problem restoring your session' but then successfully restores the session if I click the button or select the option from the History menu (however, this does not always pop up - see the 'what I tried section').

When it happens:

1) When interacting with input forms such as login and password forms. Seemingly happens more often with forms that have previous input saved for them, but I'm not sure.

2) When opening new windows (notably NOT new tabs) such as when opening a private browsing window, bookmarks window, download history window or when using the picture-in-picture option on Youtube.

How frequently it happens:

The frequency appears to be random and not specific to any website. It most often seems to hapen after about an hour of browsing, but can also happen immediately at restart or go longer without freezing. Interestingly, disabling Ublock Origins seems to dramatically decrease the frequency of freezing, but does not eliminate it completely.

What I've tried so far:

1) Looking for problematic extensions. Running in safe mode seems to prevent the issue, so I started disabling extensions one by one. Ultimately though, even with all extensions disabled outside of safe mode, the issue persists. As noted above, it seems to freeze less often when Ublock Origins is disabled.

2) Tracking memory and CPU usage. Nothing abnormal there - I have 16 GB of memory and Firefox rarely goes over 5.

3) Refreshing Firefox. This did nothing except cause the 'Oops, there was a problem restoring your session' tab to first start appearing. Before the refresh that didn't used to happen at restart.

4) Disabling hardware acceleration. No effect.

5) Removing bookmarks. I had a very large number of bookmarks saved so I deleted a bunch of them. No effect.

6) Deleting the places database. No effect.

7) Deleting the session restore files. This has been the most interesting option. Deleting the session restore files DID stop the freezing... until it came back again in a couple of days. Interestingly, when it first came back it was not accompanied by the 'Oops, there was a problem restoring your session' message at first, but eventually that started appearing too. This gave me the thought today that perhaps this is caused by a website somehow 'corruping' the session data. I was going to delete the session restore files again and start looking for the offending website, but puzzlingly, this time deleting the files did not stop the freezing.

Hi all,

I have a issue with firefox, when i browse through sites i noticed a popping sound through my laptop speakers. I noticed this for a long time now and i thought it was driver related so i updated my drivers but the popping didn't go away. I tested the edge browser in windows 10 and did swap through the same sites as i did in firefox and that browser does not create popping noices.

Is there a fix for it ?

Best regards, Michel
