How can I sign up for Mozilla (firefox) forum?

I have an account, but won't recognize my credentials. They ARE correct.

I try to set up a new account and the security question "how many letters in Mozilla" doesn't work. The answer is 7, but says it's wrong. WFT?

Hey team, I would like to know if there is a way to "name" the firefox window? I have multiple theme windows (for instance, one is for all recipes, one is for all news pages, one is for all online classes) with multiple tabs open and would like to find a way to navigate between them in an easier way. Naming them would be lovely, so I could name the window "recipes" and find the right one easier in the dock.

Anyone knows a trick? If it doesn't exist, any way to hint to the developers that this would be helpful? :) It could be just me though :)

Thank you for your thoughts,

Kata

As captured in the long thread "What's the difference between ALLOW and ALLOW for a SESSION?”, with a lot of handholding from jscher2000, I managed to set custom choices for privacy and security the way I wanted on my mac computer (blocking all cookies in all windows, with exceptions saved for ALLOW, ALLOW for SESSION and some for BLOCK). To accomplish this, required enabling deletion of cookies when Firefox closes.

My assumption based on information I got in the above mentioned thread, was that even when deletion of cookies is checked for when Firefox is closed, cookies for websites identified as exceptions with ALLOWED, are not deleted.

However, this is not what happens. A specific example is tripcheck.com, which stores custom itineraries for cameras in cookies. I setup quite a few of these custom itineraries and saved them and they were OK until I closed Firefox, when they were deleted, as the cookie was deleted. This website is setup as ALLOW in the Exceptions list.

As explained in the above mentioned thread:

"(2) Scenario Two

[X] Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed (checked)

Firefox shortens cookie expiration to session only unless the site has an ALLOW permission in the exceptions list. “.

I am more confused than ever, the settings do not appear to be working the way they are meant to work, not only for session cookies but also for what should be "permanent".

Am I doing something incorrectly or am I misunderstanding how setting should work?

If cookies of websites setup for ALLOW are deleted when Firefox is closed, the setting is defeating what I am trying to accomplish: saving cookies for websites that I use and save data in cookies (such as recognizing the computer, what’s needed for 2 step authentication, etc.).

Thanks.

Hello. I need help with: `DOMException: The quota has been exceeded.` I'm trying to use IndexedDB. However, the code is requesting persistent storage: `await window.navigator.storage.persist();` (and this is returning true) This website is only storing about 8MB of data and I have a different website storing 200MB of data (userscript) The storage medium still has 140GB available. What quota did I exceed? If this is the wrong place, please direct me to the right place

Don't you think that if browsers rehabilitate a native "RSS one click subscribe" feature, with better UX (RSS actions/reader nicely integrated to the browser) it could revolutionize the way we subscribe to content updates, removing the need to rely on emails/newsletters in a lot of cases (then being more eco-friendly)? Users would receive content updates notifications directly in the browser, their feeds being synchronized through their browser account, etc.

Web developpers would just have to place subscription buttons: <input type="subscribe">

And a W3C Standard would unify how browsers should implement the "Subscription" feature, focusing on UX (I feel this is the point influencing usage data for the most part, RSS still being a tech-savvy thing).

Feeds handling was removed in 2018 in Firefox.

Hi, I just updated to Firefox Developer 83.0b4 and the two-finger scroll sensitivity has been drastically reduced with no clear way to reconfigure it. I've spent the past 30 mins tweaking scroll settings in `about:config` (restarting FF after each value change) to no avail. In fact, it doesn't even appear that enabling/disabling `general.smoothScroll` or `general.smoothScroll.mouseWheel` have any noticeable effect, let alone the many other options listed. Are there any pages that describe the myriad options in `about:config` so that I can take a more measured approach to troubleshooting this issue?

What changed? And why? Chrome did this same thing at v68 without ever providing any way to configure it and FF has been my main browser since. I'm just trying to understand how such a significant input change can happen overnight without any explanation or any way to fix it.

Hello! Using Firefox Developer Edition. Trying to get the command line prompt so I can type Javascript for a class. When in ctrl + shift + K Developer Tools: Web Console command line interface prompt (>> ) not showing (where I can type and test js code.)

I have

  1. set the ' devtools.chrome.enabled preference to true in about:config, ' as suggested in docs (but it still has no >> to type on).
  2. Also enabled 'enable browser chrome and add on debugging' in developer... settings)

How can I type in the Firefox console to test Javascript commands? Thanks!

I Googled about stopping using Firefox beta and transition to release version but none of the pages I found in this forum talks about an error message about user profile that only gives me the option to Create a New Profile (therefore losing all my add-ons, cookies, settings and everything) or Exit.

I tried manually googling "download Firefox" and downloaded the release version and after installing it, I get the warning message above. This thread here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1224888 has a link to the rapid release version but I end up in the same warning message.

Since the beta will necessarily always be a newer version than a release version, how do I transition from beta to a release version but preserve all my settings, add-ons and everything if Firefox will tell me that it won't let me use my existing profile in an older version, the release version?

My motivation to leave the beta version is that Firefox started having a bug since 27-Oct-2020 in Google meetings where either a shared screen or the camera image of the person in a meeting appears very zoomed in in the top left corner so it doesn't show the rest of the image.

Say you have 2 screens arranged vertically. When you maximize any window on the screen below, nothing appears on the screen on the top. Normally, logically. Except when that window is Firefox. When Firefox is maximized on the screen below, a shadow displays at the bottom of the screen on top, see the attached.

Other chromium-based browsers don't display this shadow, other windows of other software do not, the shadow shown by Firefox only displays when the window is maximized, not regular. And displays no matter the theme (here in the picture is using the default, which shows a titlebar like Windows' default one).

Any idea how to fix it?
