I'd like it if Firefox would automatically convert webp images to jpg or png files instead of the opposite... stop trying to save png or jpg files as webp... and stop serving me webp images when it is optional. I understand there are websites that ONLY display webp format images, but I am also aware that jpg and png files exist on many of these websites as well. I do not want to disable the ability to display webp in the browser, but I want to turn off whatever option is currently turned on.
I'd like to go back to being able to right click, Save Image As > and end up saving a png or jpg. There have been several websites over the last few weeks that I have visited, and even if the image in the URL is named jpg or png, Firefox tries to save it as a webp. This is complicating my image saving process. I am using the Add-on named "Save webP as PNG or JPEG" which works, but slows down my saving process considerably. The Add-on does not remember the last folder I saved an image to, and adds several additional clicks to what used to be a simple process.
Is there a way in about:config to prevent Firefox from putting webp as the default file format in the Save Image As dialog box?
Suggesting that I use Internet Explorer or Edge is crazy. I'm not changing browsers.
You can demo this annoyance by trying to save this image, which is obviously supposed to be a jpg: https://media.entertainmentearth.com/assets/images/7c23e8c9a6014c57aa8f5d3e281b3834lg.jpg

Every search I perform using google is being hyjacked by yahoo. I have read that many other users are having the same problem. I have tried to follow the steps to remove the add-on or extension but when I click on "add-ons" or extensions from the menu it just opens a new blank tab in my browser. When I click on search in the preferences menu, google is the only search engine checked in all of my selections. Please help me get rid of the yahoo search.

I used to be abel to use Firefox, with all its problems, to access my Gmail accounts. Recently, since using Firefox ESR 78.6.1, all I see is gibberish. Other bookmarks work just fine. It is not the fault of Google, since I can access my mail via Chrome, but I do miss Firefox. Please What is going on? Thanks, Al Wald: [email]@columbia.edu*

I have a Mac system that has been on OS X 10.11.6 for a long time, and was switched to the ESR channel when the release channel no longer supported this version. I have finally been able to update that system to something later (Mojave, 10.14.6) and want to restore Firefox to the release channel. How do I do this and preserve all of the Firefox settings, history, etc.? Won't installing a fresh copy of Firefox wipe all that out? Thanks for any help you can provide.

With concerns about supply chain security, I would like the ability to ensure that the file download matches a recognized checksum.
Downloading from: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/78.6.1/releasenotes/ yields checksum SHA256 55249C4861FE521CB32D72785481A146B64812AF2ECE7341FAAA5C79ABC0F395
This does not match any of the checksums available at: https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/78.6.1esr/
Best practice would be to publish the official checksum along with the release notes.

A while ago, I carefully archived my Firefox 76 passwords as a csv file with PasswordExporter. Somehow, my Lockwise account got disabled so I don't have the option of just downloading them anymore. So my question is, how do I IMPORT that csv password file into my Firefox? I believe Lockwise used to have the option ofimporting from a file, but that option doesn't appear anymore.

After wiping my Mozilla Firefox profile data everywhere, including AppData Local and Roaming profile directories, Firefox autofill stopped saving and/or synchronizing my address information. The address autofill options disappeared entirely from Firefox "Privacy & Security" section. I checked about:config, which had "services.sync.engine.addresses" and "services.sync.engine.addresses.available" set to "False". I set them to "True", but that only restored the address synchronizing setting in Firefox "Sync" section, not in "Privacy & Security" section. Syncing did not restore the address autofill options for "Privacy & Security" section and neither did changing other autofill and address-related entries in about:config. Starting a fresh new profile yet again didn't help.
Could this be caused by network-wide block of "location.services.mozilla.com" ? That domain became blocked a while back and there was no way around it, not even with DNS-over-HTTPS, but back then address autofill was working just fine without accessing that domain.
How can I bring back the address autofill portion of "Privacy & Security" section???

since the last update to 84.0.2 firefox opens ~30 closed tabs again after s short time period. When I close the tabs they reappear after a short period again.
I disabled the sync feature, but that does not help.
Does anyone have an idea and can point me to the right direction?

I abandoned my effort to control policies using a policies.json file, since the posted instructions do not work and the moderator who was helping me didn't have any additional suggestions. So I'm now trying to do this via the local group policy editor in Windows 10 Pro with Firefox ESR 78.6.1.
I obtained the admx/adml files for that version of Firefox and placed them in the appropriate location in Windows\Policy Definitions.
Now I get the full list of polices in Firefox about:policies#documentation. There is also a Mozilla>Firefox node in the group policy editor with many options. However, AppAutoUpdate is not among them, even though it appears in the documentation. The only thing relevant at all in the GPO editor is Mozilla>Firefox>Preferences>app.update.auto, which both the GPO and about:policies says is deprecated and not supported.
So what is the actual truth? Is there, or is there not really an AppAutoUpdate policy that we can actually use to stop the endless pestering about updates in an ESR version? If there really is one, what are the actual steps to find it and make it work?
Thanks.
