Hi

Running Firefox 71.0 (64 bit)

Well seems Firefox has been messing this up again.

Anyone have the new work around solution to get my tabs back on the bottom again. They were fine this morning then shut down and went out to lunch and when I came back they were back on the top again after months of being where I wanted them below my bookmark bar.

Thoughts on this?

Thanks Dave

Having some trouble with Firefox and I'm at my wits end on how to fix it. Clicking the Firefox icon in Windows 10 (whether that's in the Start menu, the taskbar or the app itself in Program Files) won't launch Firefox. The blue loading spinner appears briefly next to the pointer, then disappears. Sometimes a Firefox process appears in Task Manager then instantly disappears, but sometimes it doesn't. Here's what I've tried so far:

- Restarting - Reinstalling - Deleting my Firefox profile and all Firefox app files - Launching in safe mode by holding shift - Launching in safe mode by adding the "-safe-mode" comment - Running as administrator - Checking it's not being blocked by antivirus - Loading the Firefox profile manager by typing "firefox.exe -P" in the run dialog box. This does the same as trying to load Firefox - nothing happens

I can't think what else to do. It may be a coincidence, but my primary monitor died, I restarted the PC and then Firefox wouldn't work. I can't see how it could be related, but who knows.

Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Everyone. I'm experiencing the follow screen crash when I opening Firefox after turned on my laptop. To recover normal view I need to restore and maximize it again. It's curious, because just happen when I'm opening Firefox at first time after start up. I'm using ubuntu 18.04 LTS and Firefox 71.0 (64-bit) with this extensions: keep note (google), Adblocker Ultimate, Simple Translate, Ublock Origin, Google TM Translator and Dark Reader. Additionally, dialog box, like where to save files ever open in my second monitor (yes, I'm using 2).

I'm using the same version and extensions another Windows PC and all things looks like good. It's I'm not sure if the problem is OS or Firefox.

Thank you all

For reasons unbeknownst to me*, Firefox started without restoring the tabs from my previous session. Exploring the forum for help, I found that menu "Help" > "Troubleshooting Information" will lead to a page on which one can find the profile folder, which in turn contains a folder called "sessionstore-backup," in which Firefox keeps a history of previous sessions' tabs.

While none of the files in that folder are intelligible, I can see from text snippets that a file called "upgrade.jsonlz4-20191202093317" is the only one that potentially holds a backup of my tabs. This file is just twelve days old. However, I cannot find a way to restore the tabs from that file as Firefox just keeps ignoring any changes that I make to the files name and folder contents. How can I restore my tabs from that file?

  • ) There was no obvious crash, though Firefox just did not automatically load upon restarting my Macbook, which is always running the latest version of any software installed. This is nothing unusual in my experience, as it keeps happening about once a month.

I exported my bookmarks from my Win7 laptop (via FF Quantum). Exported it onto my Win7 Desktop, with HTML extension. Then pasted it to Flash drive.

Note that when pasted, the file displayed as a Blue I.E. Explorer icon.

I then switched to my Win10 laptop, and pasted aforesaid HTML file into My-PC Documents. I then clicked Bookmarks / Show-All-Bookmarks / Import-Backup / import-bookmarks-from-html / this-pc / documents

then i clicked on the bookmarks.html file ...it displayed in the textbox. ......but then it stated "no items" in the grey area below where it states "Names Tags Location"

Anytime I try to use Netflix, a yellow bar appears that reads "Firefox is installing components needed to play the audio or video on this page. Please try again later." I have read that checking to see that if DRM is ticked. I have unticked and re-ticked that option and still nothing works. I try and see if Widevine Content is being installed. All it says, and it always says that it "..will be installed shortly". I have looked around and some people recommend to install Widevine manually, but it is confusing and the links don't work. Please help, I want to use Firefox since I get some weird lag on videos on Chrome.

On one of my computers I am getting "Authentication Required" popups on one particular site (https://yts.lt/browse-movies). The popup appears when I click any link on any page of the site, and when it appears it freezes Firefox so that the only way I can get out of it is to stop Firefox from running by using the Windows Task Manager on my Windows 7 PC. I have uninstalled Firefox and all my Firefox data files, and then reinstalled Firefox, but this did not solve the problem. Thinking this might involve a virus, I have also run Malwarebytes, but this, too, did not solve the problem. Please see attached screenshot. When I access this site through Firefox on another of my computers (OS = Windows 8.1), no "Authentication Required" popups appear.

Updating to Firefox 71.0 was a catastrophe. I lost all my open tags though RESTORE PREVIOUS SESSION was enabled. I had quite a while, till I figured out how Firefox really does restore previous sessions. The lost tabs though were gone.

But one problem is remaining. I can not restore closed tabs with 71.0. Ctrl+shift+T does not work anymore.

How can I enable it again Or is there a new combination for it

I am familiar with the profiles.ini file except for one thing for which I can find no information about. Recently the above mentioned line showed up in both the install.ini and profiles.ini files. This is what is in the files now: Profiles.ini

   [Install308046B0AF4A39CB]
   Default=Profiles/5cmttesr.default
   Locked=1
   [Profile0]
   Name=default
   IsRelative=1
   Path=Profiles/5cmttesr.default
   Default=1
   [General]
   StartWithLastProfile=1
   Version=2

Install.ini

   [308046B0AF4A39CB]
   Default=Profiles/5cmttesr.default
   Locked=1

As can be seen under the default profile listing is the locked=1 line or setting. So does this lock the profile so no changes can be made, or only lock some parts or does the 1 indicate it is unlocked or what? All the profile.ini articles and examples do not show the locked= line at all or even mention it as an optional setting.
