when I sync my desktop to my android phone, all bookmarks become disorganized and many are missing on both devices. I removed all bookmarks from both the desktop Mac and the Android and toggled sync. Same thing happens. I now have no bookmarks on the android (aOS 8, Oreo) and restored from a backup on the Mac (OSX sierra).

Remaking this thread because my old one (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1249273#answer-1236713) was archived. The annoying dropdown bar when typing something in the URL thingie appears once more, and I want it to stop doing that.
In addition, with this newest update of Firefox I can no longer view images at imgur, as they're all black... and Netflix has also stopped functioning. Is there a way to fix this please? I don't really want to revert to an older version of Firefox but I'll do it if I must.
Thank you for reading.

What happens is that it tries to load, comes up with message saying it has trouble trying to find the address before the browser stops and crashes after a few seconds. I've tried clearing cookies, disabled add-ons, turning on/off hardware acceleration and updating Firefox but nothing worked. Every other site loads fine but this one doesn't.

I'm trying to restore my bookmarks after reinstalling Windows 10. They were saved in a windows.old file on my Passport. I used the Import and Backup button, selected Restore, and choose my file. It's a json file. It then gave me an error message "unsupported file type."
BTW, the file ends in .jsonlz45dd510a6. It's not recognized as a json file, so I had choose 'all files" and then highlighted it to select it, and received the above error message. I then tried making a copy but omitting the letters and numbers after .jason, and tried using that, but got an error message "unable to process the backup file."

Using Firefox 70.0.1 on macOS 10.14.6. I'm running into two issues that seem related and which I haven't solved. Firstly, there are some websites that refuse to let me log in (notably Flickr) except in a private window. There are others, such as a Leica camera forum, that let me log in but only show images if I do so in a private window. What I've done so far: -turned off extensions for those sites (uBlock Origin and Malwarebytes Browser Guard) -turned off Firefox tracking protection -tried in safe mode -cleared cookies and cache -(in response to a recent thread about a similar issue) ensured dom.webnotications.enabled is set to 'true'
This issue seems to have arisen with the update to v.70. Any thoughts?

I used to watch MSNBC on a web site. I think it was from Europe. A month or so ago they stopped it if they say you had ad blocker on. BUT, on Ubuntu, the video would stop but the audio kept on, until today when it asked to upgrade. I did and now it all cuts out. I'd like to try the older version and see if I still get the audio.

Odd one this, but the built in screenshot feature on Firefox 70.0.1 will work on Bing serach results, all other sites I have tested it works fine. When clicked it simply does nothing at all. I have replicated this in Safemode for firefox also.
Now either this is an odd bug to do with Firefox, or Bing stops people from taking screenshots from within the browser as the Microsoft snip and sketch tool in windows 10 works fine.
Any ideas would be great, or if other users could try this themselves to see if they can replicate this and let me know if this is a wider issue or it's just me.
Firefox crashes on webpage opening in New Tab since 69.0.0, random occurence, does not generate crash reports.

Finally decided to make a topic about it as all of my attempts in the past few months to fix it have been in vain. Starting from Firefox 69.0 or even perhaps in 68.0, I cannot exactly remember, Firefox started to randomly crash when I opened a New Tab and tried either Googling or opening a webpage through the address bar. This crash does not create any crash reports, going to "about:crashes" does not reveal anything, neither are any crash reports stored locally.
I have tried running Firefox in safe mode, without extensions, deleting my cache files from APPDATA/Local, deleting my profile files from APPDATA/Roaming and a lot of other stuff I honestly cannot remember anymore, but nothing has helped. I even tried downgrading to 68.0, but I received some kind of big warning message and did not want to proceed.
The issue itself in essence is a full freeze, which sometimes takes a second until firefox crashes, but sometimes takes 15 seconds. During that time the only thing I can see in Task Manager is that Firefox has a "Very High" power usage, which is bizarre, since I am not even running it on a notebook (i7-9700K factory clock, RTX 2080S, 16GB DDR4 RAM). As said, it never produces a crash report, so I have been reluctant in reporting it in the past. And since it is random and can take many hours to occur (or can occur first thing after I turn on PC and open Firefox), it is basically impossible for me to record a video about it.
(While writing this, I went to look something in a new tab, tried opening my Gmail account and the crash occurred. Added a task manager screenshot about what I meant by power usage. Fortunately it allowed me to restore the session and I did not have to re-type the entire text)
From what I can gather, the issue started to happen around the time I switched over from GTX 1070 to RTX 2080 SUPER GPU. But I cannot really imagine how a GPU upgrade could influence Firefox stability. Even less so since the same Firefox issue has persevered through multiple GPU driver updates.
Hope you guys have some suggestions what to try here. Perhaps some changes in about:config that could help me out here?
Thanks in advance, Rasmus

This will sound strange, but anyways: I've been using sync from day one, moving all my accumulated logins/passwords to the firefox cloud.
I never did any housekeeping on this mountain of logins. But it suffices to say that before the inclusion of lockwise, showing the list of stored credentials exhibited a delay of some seconds (on a 4th gen core i5) between pressing the buttons to show them and actually opening a window displaying them!
This, happily, changed with lockwise (which also solved some problems on my android devices). I was amazed with the fact that the credentials window opened very fast.
Now I'd normally be very happy with this change. However, I noticed that lockwise in firefox (windows) displays the number of logins/passwords at the upper left. It showed 999... Which is an extremely round number. Coupled with the fact that it opens very fast now, I'm afraid that some change might have occured leading to credentials loss!
Are you aware if a credential limit exists now on firefox regarding credential management, or whether a credential loss/data loss has been reported on the sync cloud?
This is *hugely* important for me, stability of this feature would be enough for me to switch to another browser.
I think I have a number of rolling backups on one of my sync-connected Windows PC. When were the new lockwise-related changes introduced? Asking here, in order to check a backup older than that.

My Firefox crashes all the time, but never creates a Crash Report in About:Crashes & never send me a notice about crashing. Many actions cause it to crash. Here are some: downloading from another site; printing from email like emailed tickets; clicking on some items in Firefox Options, opening a second window in Firefox.. There seems to be no specific pattern. I have uninstalled & installed again several times. & I have also updated. Nothing helps or stops the crashing. It is very frustrating & inconvenient. I have run anti-virus & malware scans. I prefer Firefox to Chrome, but may have to change my default browser if this crashing problem cannot be fixed. Please advise. It might be useful if I could actually talk to someone. thank you. Jonathan Rose email@example.com xxx xxx-xxxx

Obviously Mozilla/Firefox people do not want to deal direct with their customers and thus have become to big for their britches and don't find direct contact necessary anymore. I want to know how to get rid of that stupid Firefox Monitor program and there is no options mentioned anywhere I have looked.

The more tabs I open, the narrower they are to fit in window, right? Right.
But it used to work the way that when I close multiple of them, they stayed the same size for a second or so which meant closing multiple of them in a row was much easier (just click in the same place multiple times), right?
Well, it used to (work that way) because it doesn't anymore. Tabs are resizing instantly which is annoying. Here's my question: is there a setting in about:config that got resetted or something or FF70 doesn't have this function anymore? Thanks!
