I have three PAC files.

First, https://vindicar.name/proxy.pac (under 1KB)

Second, https://vindicar.name/proxy2.pac (1.9MB)

Third, https://vindicar.name/proxy3.pac (519KB)

They are almost identical in structure, performing a search through a list of IPs to determine is a proxy needs to be used. The only difference is that first has a tiny list of ips. the second has actual list of IPs, and the third has a significantly reduced list. The largest one was generated by a script, so I don't expect any sneaky syntax errors in there.

Smaller PAC files work just fine, directing requests through a private proxy. I tested it by adding whatismyipaddress.com to blacklisted domains and comparing its output to another "get my ip" site. The largest PAC file seems to have no effect whatsoever, with Firefox falling back to direct connection.

Is there any size and/or execution time restriction on PAC files?

Appendix 1: General structure of PAC files above:

 function FindProxyForURL(url, host) {
   var ipblacklist = [
   // List of IPs goes here, in decimal notation:
   // "127.0.0.1",
   // "192.168.0.1",
   // and so on
   ];
   var domainblacklist = [
   'privoxy.org',
   'whatismyipaddress.com',
   ];

   function endsWith(str, suffix) {
     return str.indexOf(suffix, str.length - suffix.length) !== -1;
   }
   var blocked = false;
   for (var i=0; !blocked && (i<domainblacklist.length); i++)
     blocked = blocked || ((host == domainblacklist[i]) || endsWith(host, '.'+domainblacklist[i]));
   if (blocked || (ipblacklist.indexOf(dnsResolve(host)) != -1))
     // That proxy is accessible via my VPN, you will have to substitute your own for testing
     return "PROXY 10.42.0.1:8118; SOCKS5 10.42.0.1:8118";
   else
     return "DIRECT";
 }

There are too many language packs (maybe all) installed on one of my profiles. Why or how that happened? How can I remove all of them except the one I use without having to click like 100 time on the Remove button? Also on another profile there are only two language packs, but they could not be verified for use in Firefox, and I don't see an option to remove or to update them, only the option of disabling them. What's going on here?

Recently I emptied my Browser Cache in Firefox 60.0.2 (Quantum, 64Bit). When I tried to sign in to gmail / googlemail, Firefox suddenly did the following:

- Redirected me to a different random site or page I visited before. (for example: gmail SignIn ---> some tumblr webpage) - When only one Tab was opened, it simply closed the tab (and itself). (This would classify as a crash?)

I tried closing and restarting Firefox with the same results. Emptying the cache again did not bring any improvement.

This morning when I opened Firefox, instead of opening my many windows and tabs from my previous session as usual it opened only my homepage. There was some message about it having difficulty and suggesting I do a reset of Firefox, which I wasn't interested in doing. I didn't pay it much mind at the time.

I am running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit with latest updates on a Desktop computer and I use Windows File History backup system to backup the sessionstore-backups folder of my profile, among others.

However, when I tried to replace sessionstore.jsonlz4 with a renamed recovery.jsonlz4 or similar from any of my many backups (after quitting Firefox), when I reopened Firefox it just opened my home page. The files are about 113 KB. I tried replacing sessionstore.jsonlz4 with one of the much smaller files from today's browsing and they worked ok.

I wasn't allowed to attach one of the files here.

I'm a bit peeved as it seems I've lost all my windows and tabs, and I thought I'd protected myself against that eventuality, at least in such an apparently simple and mild mishap.

Any suggestions on getting my tabs back?

Thanks, Paul

Every time I restart Firefox browser, It's like Firefox goes back to a "saved" state I can't break.

If I re-arrange bookmarks, they will revert back to the "saved state".

Also I have Gmail pinned, and it always starts up with the same mail open, that I've delete numerous times.

I've just freshly installed my PC on a new HDD (also had issue on "old" HDD), and I'm experiencing the issue in both cases.

I'm using Firefox Sync and have version 60.0.2 64 bit version of Firefox on a fully updated Windows 10.

I've also tried froce syncing Firefox Sync after I've made the changes I want, but with same result.

Can anyone direct me to what could be wrong?

Sorry, but this is a repeat of an old problem, with a new glitch.

This is the text of the old question: "When I connect to homedepot.com, after a minute or so, I lose my DSL connection (red light on modem). This ALWAYS happens on that web site and ONLY on that web site. What the hell? It does not happen with (ugh) internet explorer. I am using Firefox 54.0.1 64-bit on Windows 7, SP1."

I have updated to the latest Firefox, and still have the problem on the computer.

I also use Firefox on my Android phone. Today, I connected to homedepot.com using the phone through my wi-fi router. The modem crashed. After reconnecting, I connected to the same site - again through my wi-fi router - using Chrome on my phone, and there was no problem. So it isn't the computer's OS, as was suggested. I have been using Firefox since version 1.0 and have never had any serious - or strange - problems. Hate to give up on it. Any ideas?

I am trying to clear search history in the address bar because it makes it very difficult to get the autocompleted pages I use regulary

I found the following article that says to:

click the down arrow, press the down button to select and highlight the entry, then press delete to delete it.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/remove-websites-awesome-bar-suggestions#w_clearing-a-single-item-from-the-address-bar-history

But this straight up does not work.

I can highlight and delete and as soon as i start typing again, it refills the search history results i just deleted.

I've cleared all search history everywhere I can find and still the address bar is offering search results from past searches

How can I get rid of them?! Thank you.

When I type 't' on the address bar, 'ranslate.google.com/' is automatically showed next to 't'. So I can go to 'translate.google.com/' with just enter key. But, I don't like it. I just want to change the automatically completed url to most visited url not main url. Is there any way to do this?

I've updated Windows, Avast and my graphics drivers. I've updated all my add-ons, but Firefox crashed even in safe mood.

I've been running Brave browser and it's not crashing so it seems like it has to be something with Firefox itself that's causing the problem.

The new format of Firefox is driving me away. I cannot understand why when something is working well, some idiot with a brain in the in the heavens rather than being practical on earth decides to wreck that which is working well It must be an ego boost or some other brain aberration. The old engineering saying "if it ain't broke don't try to fix it" applies here. Please give us the option to return to the old format....post a big notice, don't make the user search everywhere for instructions about how to return to the old format.

The site is from a major bank in the UK, so the idea that it is duff is rather far-fetched. It worked fine until I installed Firefox ESR 60.0.2. It has a valid certificate "Verified by: Digicert Inc.". What really irks me is that I DO KNOW BETTER than the blocking software, and some arrogant idiot has set up code that is preventing me from posting it as an exception until you get the Firefox problem fixed. And NO, it is not anything to do with antivirus or malware, as I have not changed any of these things, and have run checks often.

Try testing that website BEFORE you give any kiss-off answer!

And especially, DON'T BLOCK stuff unconditionally: the user should always be allowed to override that.

In the “Exceptions - Cookies and Site Data” dialog (Options > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data > Exceptions), entering a domain as “foo.example.com” creates an entry for “http://foo.example.com”. Explicitly entering “https://foo.example.com” creates an entry for “https://foo.example.com”.

I don't really know how cookies work with HTTP/S. Is it useful to have an entry for each protocol? Or does the “http://...” entry cover both already? If both are necessary, is there a way to add and remove them together, automatically? It seems like a pretty unlikely case to want different rules per protocol.

I've lately been having issues with Firefox having these "scrolling hiccups" when on sites, especially on YouTube and Facebook. From the forums, the issue seems to be with an add-on called Last Past and to fix it, the check box for "click icons in field" needs to be unchecked -- the only problem is I don't have this thing as an add-on, so I have no idea how to fix this. I always clear my browsing, history, cache and such routinely due to me constantly searching things as a writer but that doesn't seem to help. I also can't seem to find the "Advanced" options on my Firefox settings, which is something a moderator directed someone else to, so I can't follow that advice as fully. Everything is up to date. Nothing appears to be wrong. Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this? It's really obnoxious and happens virtually every time I scroll.
