If you are asked to debug a program by someone in an email and get a notice that an incoming request was detected from Client endpoint 127.0.0.1:65323 server endpoint 127.0.0.1:6080, is that from your own system or from someone on the net.? There is a warning the browser could be taken in control by remote client. Is the person connecting to one of the ports and using the other to access your pc. Or is it all on your own network?

I've recently noticed lots of error-sync logs in the %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<My Profile>\weave\logs folder. My sync is set up to handle Bookmarks and History only.

I have 4 devices, 2 PCs - both Firefox 56.0.2 32-bit and 2 Android devices (latest Firefox, not sure of version). All 4 were previously set to sync together, Bookmarks/History.

One of the PCs (Windows 7 x64) - has the logs, but I've read numerous articles online on how to fix Sync myself or correct a corrupted places.sqlite database as that's what the error log seems to be suggesting is wrong.

Running check integrity against places.sqlite gives me this:

> Task: checkIntegrity - Unable to check database integrity > Task: checkCoherence - The task queue was cleared by an error in another task. > Task: expire - The task queue was cleared by an error in another task. > Task: vacuum - The task queue was cleared by an error in another task. > Task: stats - The task queue was cleared by an error in another task. > Task: _refreshUI - The task queue was cleared by an error in another task.

I have tried to repeat the process in safe mode and with a clear (new) profile - the issue persists. I have deleted places.sqlite (after making a backup) to see if sync suddenly starts working - but the bookmark related issue simply returns.

I have signed out on all devices, changed my sync password and logged in on just the PCs (for now until the problem is resolved). I have deleted all bookmarks on the 'problem' PC, then re-imported them from Internet Explorer on the other PC, then reactivated sync - this seems to initially work but once the 'problem' PC has the bookmarks, it tries to sync them and the errors return.

The error in question appears to be this:

1527797240532 Sync.Engine.Bookmarks WARN Error while backing up bookmarks, but continuing with sync: Error: Error(s) encountered during statement execution: database disk image is malformed (resource://gre/modules/Sqlite.jsm:823:25) JS Stack trace: handleCompletion@Sqlite.jsm:823:25 1527797240534 Sync.BrowserIDManager DEBUG _ensureValidToken already has one 1527797240543 Sync.Engine.Bookmarks DEBUG Successfully wrote previousFailed.

I can supply the entire file if required or put it on pastebin.

The only real issue I'm having is that I simply want my history/bookmarks (but nothing else) shared between all my devices that use Firefox, be it quantum or 56.0.2.

I have not tried Firefox Quantum (as numerous add-ons I use are unsupported and I didn't want to simply switch without a road back). I did try Firefox 52.0.8 ESR but the first thing it did was delete my places.sqlite so I wasn't able to reproduce the problem I'm having as I don't want to lose my history data (bookmarks are stored primarily in IE for convenience and simply imported when I need them as I use 'PlainOldFavorites' extension).

This looks like a bug with firefox sync or a corrupt file, but since I've cleared places.sqlite and let FF recreate it, I'm at a loss. If you need any further information to help solve this, I'm happy to provide as much as possible.

Thanks for any suggestions you can offer :)

First of all, I've been having this problem in various forms for years. I stopped using Firefox years ago and switched to Pale Moon because of it, which was possibly a little better, but still had issues. I now use Waterfox and Tor Browser, and both have issues as well. So it seems to be an inherent issue with the browser itself. I had issues on XP years ago, then on 7 for years, and now on 10. Both 7 & 10 were/are 64-bit for both OS and browser. I use a lot of tabs, and currently have ~120 open in Firefox; however, currently only ~40 are actually loaded, so it's really not that many, yet the problem still exists.

Basically, one of two things happens, or both: after anywhere from less than a day to several days, the browser will slow down or it will crash. When it slows down, even small things take forever. For example, hovering over a tab will take a few to several seconds for the tab to change color indicating it's being hovered over (which also means clicking on a tab to switch to it takes as long), clicking checkboxes in my email is slow and unresponsive, and typing will freeze every few to several characters. When it gets real bad, the browser will say "Not Responding" and even fade out until it comes back, doing this very, very frequently, until it eventually just crashes.

It also doesn't seem like it could be a hardware issue, considering I've experienced this across multiple computers, and I just had Waterfox slow down with the "small" number of tabs open on my current computer (64GB RAM, Samsung 960 Evo) whereas I've had 500+ tabs open on my older computer (32GB RAM, 850 Evo). In fact, when it just happened, I checked the memory usage and it was using ~10GB, with only ~42% of my total memory being used, so it's not like the system was running low causing paging (not that that should make that much difference with my drive). And Windows and all other programs are fine whenever it happens; it's always just isolated to Firefox/Waterfox/Tor/Pale Moon. I did a garbage collection and a cycle collection, neither of which changed the memory usage or made any improvement, so I then did "minimize memory usage," which may have. I say may because the memory usage is now down to 8GB and Firefox is working well again, but I'm not sure if that's what did it. I have e10s set to 7 processes, which I understand makes it use more memory (though 8-10GB seems awfully high) but, as I said, I have more than enough. It almost seems like when the browsers reach a certain memory use, which seems to vary based on the browser and has nothing to do with the amount of memory available, they start having issues. Tor Browser seems to slow down and crash around 3-3.5GB, for example.

Also, it's doubtful it's add-ons, since I've used different ones over the years and with different browsers, I have almost all disabled in Waterfox, and I'm using even less in Tor, and only NoScript is common between them. I'm convinced the core of the browser is just not coded well enough to handle more than a small handful of tabs, but I'm hopeful somebody can provide some guidance to fix the issue, because otherwise I just don't know if I can stay with *fox, as I need stability in a browser.

hello

since last week, my saved logins have disappared. I tried with a win10 system recovery (there were 2 timestamps available): both didn't work, linked to a problem with Firefox profile (but error message doesn't show up fully so hard to see what is wrong).

Via shadowexplorer, I was able to export the following files from previous system recovery backups: key3.db key4.db & logins.json .

If I copy these to a new (or existing profile), the logins.json file is renamed to logins.json.corrupt

I have seen that there was a similar problem with AVG-users, but I run Comodo internet security premium...

Any clues how to retrieve the logins??

thx in advance!

I use Network Monitor to see the URL's that websites are using internally. There's a site which seems to have been written to circumvent this functionality. If I access the site while the Network Monitor is up, the Network Monitor automatically switches to the Debugger. When I switch back to the Network Monitor, the site hangs until I close the Network Monitor and then the site proceeds. It appears that the site has a way of detecting that the Network Monitor is up. Is there a way to make it so the web page cannot detect that the Network Monitor is up and cannot take control of it?

For my own reasons, I want to use Firefox to view files that are local to my machine (file:///<filepath>) without connecting to the internet; but "Work Offline" seems to allow connections to go through.

I have searched for solutions on the web, but they either discuss blocking only certain resources or certain websites. That's not what I want; I want Firefox to stay completely offline when I'm working with my files.

Is there a way to do that?

In Firefox 56.0.2 and before, it is really easy to copy texts and drag pictures (and save them) simply by moving across your finger on the screen; a simple double touch on a word on the box of google translate selects it and gives you the meaning of that word; rearranging the tabs also can happen by moving them with your finger.

None of the above no longer works in the new versions of Firefox (Firefox Quantum). I tried to find add-ons to make touch experience with Firefox Quantum less bothersome but to no avail. I'm trying to stick to the Firefox 56 but it keeps updating (although I have disable the automatic update), so for now I need to uninstall and reinstall older versions of Firefox every few days.

I would greatly appreciate it if somebody can help me solve this problem.

Windows 7 Professional Firefox 64 bit stable, up to date

Its is running on a 10 year old slow computer, the add-on script is unresponsive because it is running on a slow computer.

I had a similar problem with "Warning: Unresponsive script" but was able to get rid of those annoying notices by setting dom.max_script_run_time to zero.

I do not want to stop the script, the add-on adds security. I just do not want to ever see one of these notices on that computer ever again. I have to deal with them dozens of times each day and only use the computer for a few hours. Each time it interrupts what I'm doing to take me to a different tab to slowly deal with the problem.

The problem isn't the add-on script being slow, its the computer being slow. And the fact that the warning gives me no way to disable it so I keep getting it time after time after time...

Thanks
