I am using Firefox 46.0.1 on windows 10. All of sudden FF is always on top and i can't switch to any other running applications.

When i minimize FF, everything is working properly.

I Checked the forum here and tried almost every suggested solution but the problem is still there.

I disabled all addons and the problem remained, I unchecked the "user Hardware acceleration" and the problem remained. I even refreshed FF and started from scratch and the problem is the same.

It's really so annoying!

Is it possible to use basic USB external hard drive auto-backup software to persistently backup the places.sqlite file where FF bookmarks are stored? The Seagate software I use (Windows machine) can't seem to detect and/or generate a copy of this file, despite having directly selected AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles as a target backup directory. For whatever reason, the program just doesn't seem to be able to identify this particular file, regardless of how many times I reattempt the backup operation. By contrast, other files within the same directory (e.g., saved sessions) are backed up without any issue.

So as of right now, I'm not sure if this issue derives from a limitation of the Seagate program (though it would be the first time it has been unable to backup a desired file) or something to do with the places.sqlite file itself.

If it is not possible to generate a backup of places.sqlite, is there a way to persistently backup FF bookmarks by some other means?

Thanks.

Autofill by typing the first character of a username when more than one username/password combination is remembered no longer works. Do not know if it is related to upgrade to 46.0.1 or not. It worked just fine up until about 2 weeks ago (beginning of May 2016). With only one username/password remembered, it works every time.

In the Firefox Help pages it says "5. Open the New Firefox profile folder", but it does NOT say how to do this! I am still using Windows XP which is fine with Virus and Spyware protection and I never use online banking. The old bookmarks etc files appear to be there, it is just that I cannot find how to open the profile folder to paste them back.

Ever since this update, EVERY time I cut & paste from a website (text and maybe also links), TextEdit crashes. Using OSX 10.6.8. I know there will be an end to compatability with this OS, but I would presume that I would stop getting auto-updates sent to my system when that occurs.

If that's the problem, what do I have to do to go back to the previous version?

My Firefox bookmarks that I have been using forever have mixed up all the URLs. My Google Calendar bookmark now points to Youtube. My Paypal bookmark now takes mt to Fantasy NHL. Every single god damned bookmark now points to the wrong website. I cant even fathom the amount of time it would take to go through and fix this! Why is your browser so bugged?

When browsing on some websites, FireFox will become totally unresponsive and will, on occasion display a dialogue that gives the options to continue running a script, debugging a script or stopping a script. In all most all instances selecting the stop script fails to do so and Firefox remains in an unresponsive state and in some cases the FF thread must be killed in task manager in order to recover.

During the recovery process one must quickly stop the offending website before it has a chance to run the script again or you must again, stop FF from running using Task Manager.

I realise that javascript can be turned off for certain domains, but how is someone supposed to predict what domain he/she will end up on in a typical net browsing session?

Mozilla please fix this issue and prevent wayward scripts from locking up FF. This issue was resolved in earlier versions but it has returned in this version 46.0 and the previous version of FF.

I would welcome any comments and effective solutions for this issue.

TIA

When I pull down my history under the Back button, there are sometimes as many as 6 instances of the same page in the list. I have to click the back button 6 times to bet back.

People have been complaining about this problem for YEARS, and you still haven't fixed it. I do not have this problem with Chrome, so that tells me this is a BUG in Firefox.

When users report bugs in your software, your response ALWAYS seems to be to make them jump through a bunch of hoops to try to work around the bug. I don't need a workaround; YOU need to FIX THE DAMNED BUG!!!

You can respond by pushing out an upgrade that fixes this bug. Otherwise, don't bother me.

I "refreshed" my browser because of a recommendation by Mozilla. It stated that all would remain the same, including history and stored/saved passwords. Well, that didn't happen, and tonight I've been resetting passwords (who remembers passwords?!?) to the sites I know, but there are some (work/employment related) that I have no idea what the web address is. Plus, the browser is still slow! ughhhh I am so frustrated now. I should have listened to my instincts and left it alone, or installed Google Chrome. I did go to the forum, read the Q & A, but was unable to get my issue resolved. Please, please help!

Frequently when I re-start Firefox (it seems to crash about once a day), the firefox exe process hangs with NO I/O. Firerfox does not even get to the point of asking me if I really want to start in safe mode. I tried getting a dump via the Task Manager, but taskmgr tells me "permission denied". Attached is a screen capture of the latest occurrence. This is the latest FF 46.0.1 on Windows 7 Professional 32-bit.

I don't know if I am the only one but recently Twitch TV (https://www.twitch.tv/) stopped working on Firefox with windows 10. Page loads just fine but when trying to watch any live stream or past broadcast from anyone the video player just sits there with giant play button (attached picture). When i click on it nothing happens. On other sites like Youtube everything is just fine, it's just twitch. I did fresh Win install and only installed network drivers and tried to watch stream but the problem is still there. This also happens on my work laptop that also has Win 10 installed, but on my brother's PC, that is running Win 7, twitch works just fine.

Not sure if the issue is with Twitch, Win 10 or FF 46.0.1 but on previous versions of FF, twitch worked ok?
