Upon exit from Firefox (IE, click "X" in the window-pane) I get the Mozilla crash reporter: We're Sorry. Firefox had a problem and crashed. We'll try to restore your tabs and windows when it restarts. I then fill out the info to contact me about this problem. I also get this message (sometimes) when I request a page be printed out. This second problem is VERY annoying because I have to bring firefox back up and get to the page to print all over again. So I uninstalled firefox and downloaded a new copy and installed it. I get the same results. This is SO frustrating. How do I fix this? I'm running a PC with an i5-4430 processor, 8GB of memory, and a 1TB hard drive, and Windows 10 (upgraded from 8.1 - firefox was working fine on 8.1)

So far no one has contacted me and I've been doing this for almost 2 weeks now. BTW: I used the same email address.

I am developing a new intranet site for our workplace and whenever I use HPRM Doc Server (Documents located in HPRM and the link links direct to this through the CMS). IE 8 has no problem with loading the link but firefox just wont recongise what the file type is (see image attached). The document number D15/0000001 at the end is what we change to select the right document.

This is the example of the link; https://trim.det.wa.edu.au/docserver/getfile.aspx?RecID=%20D15/0000001

My hard drive got fried during a power outage and the repair shop was able to clone it. Firefox seemed to work fine once I got it back but the "bookmark this page" button on my toolbar no longer works. I have to manually add them. I've tried various solutions: deleted places.sqlite, only worked temporarily refreshed Firefox, only worked temporarily uninstalled/reinstalled Firefox, did nothing

I frequently bookmark things and while I can do them manually, I really like the ease of the button. Would really love some help, please!

My Firefox constantly crashes and/or freezes multiple times a day. I rarely can have more than a few tabs or windows of Firefox open and it crashes. The reason I know it is crashing is that the window or tab will become distorted, and if I click on the icon in the taskbar to minimize and then maximize the window, the screen will turn white, and then all of my tabs and windows within Firefox will be like that. At that point, it's only a matter of time before it crashes. Many times, in order to get it to crash just so I can not lose all of the tabs I've generated and reopen them on restart, I have to open up multiple instances of Firefox windows until it finally does crash. I have seen as few as two extra windows or as many as 35-40, until it crashes. It's very annoying and it makes it hard to any work much of the time, and I do use Firefox at work. I've never had problems with Firefox at home, or anywhere else really, until now. Please help me figure out what's going wrong and stop the crashes. Thank you.

Vertical colored bars on left side of window?

Arch Linux, 64-bit Radeon HD 7750 w/ Mesa 10.6.4 Gnome 3.16.2 Firefox 40.0.2 (problem does not occur on FF 39.0.3) Any Firefox window has a colored vertical region (20-… (funda kabanzi)

Arch Linux, 64-bit

Radeon HD 7750 w/ Mesa 10.6.4

Gnome 3.16.2

Firefox 40.0.2 (problem does not occur on FF 39.0.3)

Any Firefox window has a colored vertical region (20-or-so pixels wide) beginning just under the system title bar and extending down to the bottom of the FF window. The region begins as a single color(1) but then, as the viewport changes(2) this region is segmented into sub-regions of independently varying colors. Multiple windows maintain their own independent colored region.

If multiple firefox windows are opened, each has its own region. Context menus (e.g. right clicking anywhere in the FF window) also have such a region. Disabling all extensions, plugins, and themes has no effect.

(1) The colors I've observed are always fundamental (cyan, magenta, yellow, green, blue, red, gray). When the color is set or changed (described below) the color seems to be set at random - that is to say I cannot distinguish a pattern as to how

(2) Scrolling the viewport or invoking a browser modal/prompt/file dialog will cause the entire region to change to one other color. Certain (I can't nail down the rhyme or reason) block-level changes to a page will cause a sub-region to appear, horizontally aligned with said block. Page-wide changes "reset" these sub regions. Animations on the page causing color changes (such as the fading in of a modal overlay div or the slow sliding up of the Firefox address bar when entering fullscreen) will cause rapid color change during the period of animation/transition. Blurring the Firefox window or using the PrintScreen button will also reset the entire region back to one color so I'm unable to get a screengrab of varying subregions.

Is this a problem with Firefox? Where should I file a bug report? Mozilla? Gnome? X? Mesa?

Trying to log in to NWOLB, when typing in my customer number the numbers change to letters, starting at a and moving through the alphabet , eg 12345 shows as abcde. The numbers are registering correctly if I accesss the site using Microsoft Edge. Is this an incompatability between Firefox and Windows 10, or do I need to change a setting somewhere. I am using the latest version of Firefox.

I accidentally deleted some bookmarks and decided to restore from the last automatic backup made by firefox in the bookmarksbackup directory.

I went to Bookmarks / Show All Bookmarks, selected Import and Backup / Restore and it listed about 10 backups. I selected the latest one (2 days old), firefox gave a warning that current bookmarks would be replaced, then it wiped everything and nothing was restored. I tried all the backups available and nothing worked. No error messages were give.

The files are not large, about 130k (compressed jsonlz4). I found an article explaining how to decompress these using Firefox Web Console and can see the bookmarks in the json file, but for some reason firefox won't read them. I also looked in the places.sqlite file and can see the bookmarks there, but they are not shown in the bookmarks menu or the bookmarks library.

Now I have a serious problem, I didn't make a backup before trying to restore (I assumed I had backups already) and all my bookmarks were deleted when restoring, the only export I have is 6 months old. Is there anything you can do to help?

I'm running Firefox 40.0.2 on 64bit Netrunner Linux (a derivative of ArchLinux).

thanks,

Paul

Hello,

How's it going, lads? :) I noticed a problem which I don't know if it existed earlier or not, but when I enter a big website, clicking the middle mouse button and trying to scroll while the page is loading is torture! I can only scroll normally after that spinning wheel stops.

(If you seem to not understand my description, just read the title again.) Seems like my question is almost empty, feel free to ask me for additional info.

Best regards,

I want to watch Netflix and refuse to use a different Brwoser than Firefox. So Here's the problem: After correctly uninstalling silverlight and reinstalling it again, Netflix keeps giving me the notification that silverlight needs to be installed, although it is. I have uninstalled Firefox clean and installed it again. I went in the internet up and down and did everything, like the microsoft fixing tool, I checked if everything is up to date, I literally did everything! When I keep browsing for solution, I see that on some websites it advices me to check my addons -> Plugins and select silverlight. Now, I do remember seeing Silverlight there plenty times, but it isn't there anymore at all, it's completely missing! Please help me!

I unfortunately had the experience to have my left Shift key stuck when I reopened my browser. It gave me the option to 'refresh or reset' and not ever seeing this before I chose 'reset' which got rid of all my addon's and features.

Since that it mistakenly reset my browser I am now stuck in what seems like an eternal proverbial safe mode. I cannot download any files nor can I access any website which requires me to update data to my browser (this includes browser based games). Not only that any time I visit the Firefox support, the page is strictly text-only and makes trying to solve my problem ever so difficult (as it all just jumbles things together repeating itself numerous times.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the browser with no success in being able to access the net short of just text pages. This is an extreme frustration and would greatly appreciate any help in restoring my browser back to its wonderful self where I can browse with my favorite browser rather than using Microsoft Edge (like I am having to use right now to post this).

Many thanks in advance.

Hi, after (auto-)upgrading to Firefox 40 (on Windows 7, 64-bit), I notice that various fonts look different...in fact they look much worse. For example, button text using the Open Sans font looked great in all versions prior to FF 40, yet they now look thin and wispy starting with FF 40. What did you change and why? Is this a known bug? Can you please go back to the previous font rendering? (See uploaded before/after screen shot.)

NOTE: Unfortunately, my 6KB png file is not uploading properly (and I tried uploading it twice)!

Thank you, Marc
