I've been using Firefox for a long time now and have never seen an issue like this before. http://prntscr.com/cac6o5 this is a picture from this web page http://www.ghacks.net/2016/06/07/firefox-47/ - Most pages seem to be squishing the fonts. I'm not sure what's going on, it just started doing this recently out of the blue. I'm not sure what else to say about the issue.

I'm using a fairly old version of Firefox, version 34.0.

If anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it!

Some abusive Google AdWords ads exploit the input tag's autofocus attribute to override links to internal anchors deep in the page.

When I follow a link such as: http://www.example.com/page.html#paragraph5

This should set the top of the page as the internal link with name (HTML4 or less) or id (HTML5) "paragraph5". This has been the case pretty much since the invention of HTML.

Unfortunately, HTML5 introduced the attribute "autofocus" to the input tag. Some abusive advertisers have noticed that they can exploit this to override the behavior of the actual website, and scroll the page to focus on the advertisement instead of the site's content.

Here is an example of an obnoxious, abusive AdWord advertisement from Adobe: https://s0.2mdn.net/ads/richmedia/studio/pv2/40930760/20160126194122120/AdobeStock728x90.html?e=69&renderingType=2&leftOffset=0&topOffset=0&c=8dPnUcilTf&t=1

Google AdWords is not going to police this abusive behavior. Google likes it when people view its advertisements instead of actual site content.

It is possible for the owner of a website to individually ban certain advertisements from his website. However, there is no way for an individual who does not own a website to ban certain Google AdWords advertisements from a website he frequents.

I find the "autofocus" attribute to be completely useless for normal browsing and highly obnoxious when misused by abusive advertisers. It is very likely that more and more advertisers will use this trick to break websites. Therefore, I would like a way to completely disable / ignore the "autofocus" attribute within Firefox.

How can I do this? Is there a configuration I can change? Is there an Add-On I can install?

As a computer support person, I've switched many people from other browsers to Firefox, often touting that the Firefox interface is most similar to Internet Explorer than the other choices. This client's issue stumped me, however, and I haven't been able to come up with a solution for her. Rather than exploring other browsers, this is my last-ditch effort to come up with a Firefox solution.

In Internet Explorer browsing Facebook, people can right-click on an image and email the picture to someone (family, friends, etc.). I can find no way to duplicate this functionality in Firefox. I go to other websites (tested this on Yahoo!'s main page) and I can right-click in Firefox and email the picture. In Facebook, no dice. (This may be more a Facebook issue, but I want to check with you folks first.)

I can't find an Add-on that will do it. This seems strange, because apparently a lot of people like to have this ability. Any ideas or suggestions? DMS

Jan 7, 2015 in the evening I received a popup asking me to upgrade to the latest version 35.0, I am running 34.0.5. I was busy so I clicked "ask later" which never happened. Today Jan 8, same year I looked and tried to upgrade manually, no options so I went to the Mozilla site and it told me I was running the latest version. So is this a concern since I was not and do not use drugs?

I like using fullscreen mode, and I like that the navigation and tab bar autohides. What I don't like is that my bookmark bar vanishes completely until I exit fullscreen mode. I'm attaching a quick screenshot I put together to illustrate my problem. Can anyone help?

The autohiding isn't the problem here (eg., I don't mind hovering over the top of my screen to get my tabs and such back), I just want to be able to access my bookmarks quickly while in fullscreen mode, without having to click into a bookmark manager.

Thanks in advance!

Edit: I installed this add-on that seems to keep my bookmarks bar around even when I am in fullscreen mode. It autohides everything the way it should, but when I hover over the top I get to see my nav bar, tab bar, and bookmarks bar. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fullscreen-toolbar-hover/?src=search

About 1 month ago, I updated Flash and Firefox to most current versions. Firefox 34.0.5, running on WinXP, SP3, shows Adobe Flash plugin as ver. 16.0.0.235, but this is now being blocked again. No other versions of Flash are evident. When I choose option on Flash screen to check plugins are up to date, Firefox reports Flash plugin is up to date. This program behaviour is wrong and should be fixed. Checking at Adobe, current Flash is 16.0.0.305. Who or what is broken here? Is Firefox broken, and not reporting correctly that more current Flash plugin is available? I do not appear to have previous versions of Flash installed on system. This combo of software was working correctly for a while, and then became broken, without a proper path to allow users to resolve it. If Firefox is rigged to "Block" a plugin, then it *MUST* be configured to easily and **CORRECTLY** allow that plugin to be updated. Using most current software, my clicking on the "Check for updates" feature reports that Adobe Flash is most current version. Arrrrgh!! I am now back to "diagnose and fix broken Firefox+Flash" exercise, which I just went thru. Best solution here would be to allow user to easily override the "blocking" mechanism. This would assist users who only use Flash video access on trusted sites. If there is an obvious solution to this current Flash "BLocking" goofery, please inform. Otherwise, if and when I resolve this, I will post a reply to my own question here, indicating what I did to fix this, as it appears to be affecting other Firefox+Flash users, without a clear solution being posted.
