The mail program on Yahoo has been frozen in Firefox, no other browser. Yesterday, I opened it, and i was unable to delete mail because the whole toolbar with delete, reply, forward, spam, etc. was no longer on my mail window. I tried to send an email, but this function was also disabled.

Basically, the only thing that Firefox enables in Yahoo mail is loading new emails. I had to use Safari and Chrome to perform these functions on the toolbar that is still missing in Firefox.

What happened? How to restore these functions?

I was downloading LogMeIn Hamachi. I did a custom install, removed everything I didn't want, and I thought all was good.

Until I wanted to search something.

DEFAULTED TO YAHOO. I used to type something in the URL Address bar and have it redirect me to Google search, as it should. Now it goes to yahoo. Here's an example: What it used to be like: http://i.imgur.com/Lb9vrXK.png What it is now: http://i.imgur.com/kYMa3ha.png

Can anyone help me fix this? I tried: Starting Firefox in Safe mode without addons Resetting Firefox Uninstalling it from Control Panel (couldn't find it under anywhere) Am I doing something wrong, or is Yahoo forever defaulted into Firefox?

I have installed SQLite Manager 0.8.1

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/sqlite-manager/

Go to File Explorer / Show Hidden items (so you can see App Data, next)

Put a copy of places.sqlite in C:\temp (work from a copy)

C: \ Users \ Username \ App Data \ Roaming \ Mozilla \ Firefox \ Profiles \ long string \ places.sqlite

Go to the FF drop down menu in the top left / Web Developer / SQLite Manager

. . . it opens the program in a new window

Within the program, go to:

Database / Connect Database / C:/temp/places.sqlite

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

You will see many Tables. The two pertinent ones I think are:

moz_bookmarks / Browse & Search tab

all the new bookmark Titles are in here at the bottom, even ones not in the Unsorted folder, but the URLs are not here!

the Titles appear to be added in sequential order, according to the id

moz_places / Browse & Search tab

all the new bookmark Titles, and URLs, are in here, they are not readily identifiable, you have to use Ctrl+F

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

To export the tables:

right-click on the table / Export Table /

CSV tab / [check] First row contains column names

Comma, Double quotes, Save CSV Export Settings

Ok / Save it to desktop as a CSV

Open the CSV, and then save it as an xlsx

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Question: How can I get my Title and URLs?

There are over 17,000 rows in moz_places.

I would be putting all new bookmark in Unsorted though, so the question is, how do you identify them?

This seems possible.

Alternatively, if I could add the URL column to moz_bookmarks, then I could just export that. I would work from a copy . . . but it doesn't look like SQLite Manager will let me do this.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I have also installed: SQLite Database Browser, Version 2.0b1

http://sourceforge.net/projects/sqlitebrowser/

I try to open places.sqlite with it, and nothing happens. Any idea why? Thx.

Windows 7 computer with Firefox 29. After updating Firefox I wanted the tabs back at the bottom. I follow the instructions below but "browser.tabs.onTop" did not show up in the search. Is there another way to put the tabs back on the bottom???

How do I put tabs back on bottom like they used to be?

In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter.
The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise! to continue to the about:config page.
In the Search field box at the top, type browser.tabs.onTop.
Double-click the browser.tabs.onTop preference to set its value to false.

Suddenly my Gmail attachments have stopped opening, and I receive the message: JavaScript must be enabled in order for you to use Gmail in standard view. However, it seems JavaScript is either disabled or not supported by your browser. To use standard view, enable JavaScript by changing your browser options, then try again.

I found a Mozilla support thread where it was explained that Javascript has been turned off for a while in FF. OK. Then there was a complicated answer about how you could still turn it back on by typing in a config code into the address bar. What? Or, you could download an extension to do that for you. Why?

Please-- if you really feel like users can't be trusted, and Javascript must be turned off, at least bring back the ability to enable/disable Javascript on a per site basis in options, without having to know code. It's Gmail.

Thank you.

When invoking Firefox "Tools -> Add-ons -> Plugins" and clicking on "Check to see if your plugins are up to date", the checker asserts that Java(TM) Platform SE 7 U51 is vulnerable and I should update now.

The Java version I have installed shows as being the most current version. Re-installing Java does not effect the Firefox-generated warning. Running the web based Java version checker indicates that I have the current version installed.

Do I need to re-install Firefox in order to get the warning to go away, or do I have some kind of gremlin in my system?

Bottom right corner resize controls trump vertical scroll button if set to appear in the bottom corner

My bottom right corner square of the Firefox window normally sits below the bottom of the vertical scroll bar and right of the horizontal scroll bar if one exists. The square is used to click and drag to resize the window's right and bottom boundaries.

At issue is when a web site places its vertical scroll down-arrow button in the bottom right corner. I cannot access the down-arrow button with my mouse to cause the page to scroll down a few lines at a time because when I point the mouse there, I get the resize controls instead. Even though the down-arrow button is plainly visible on the screen, the resize controls take charge and I cannot use the scroll control.

Two example web sites display their down-arrow control at the very bottom of the window; TIME.com and GMAIL.com. I have also viewed two PDF documents in the browser, and they too, have a vertical scroll bar all the way to the bottom, and I cannot use that down-arrow button because instead I get the northwest-southeast click-to-resize cursor instead of the mouse pointer when I attempt to use that button for scrolling.

Someone on the Google Help forum was not able to replicate that issue, showing me screenshots of his lower right corner mouse behavior. He does not have the resize control covering access to the scroll bar.

I am using the latest Firefox, I have reset Firefox, thus dumping all of my add-ons and custom settings, and have only put back AdBlock Plus and Cookie Monster. And Troubleshooter, when I asked a similar question.

I am running Windows XP, on its last days of support. This computer is not capable of running anything newer, unless I run with Linux.

Going to TIME.com, its vertical scroll is in the bottom corner and I get the resize control arrows instead of the mouse pointer when I point to the down-button. If I disable page styles in the View menu, I get a useful output that sets the end of the vertical scroll above the bottom corner. So somebody's idea of styling the page (CSS) creates this issue for me.

Going to Gmail, turning off the styles gives me a useless output of nonsense, so I must use page styling enabled.

Can someone please give me some guidance? This forum page has vertical and horizontal scroll above and left of the bottom corner square. I have access to all the parts of both scroll bars, as is the case on most well-designed pages.

My window-resize controls are in charge always of the bottom corner square even if the vertical scroll is supposed to be there.

Folks, I installed 29.0 early Saturday morning (5/10/14) before the 29.0.1 fix was released. Even after 29.0.1. installed itself, it continued to crash after 1-2 minutes. I could not even keep it up long enough to generate crash reports and never got the crash report dialog box.
I downloaded and installed 28.0, but nothing changed.
Today, I looked in Task Mangler to see if anything stuck out. I opened the Services tab and found that about half of the services for Firefox were "Stopped." Being desperate I decided to try to restart some of the services and did about the top 10. I started getting messages one by one that said a service could not be restarted because of bad software from an installation (no surprise).
I gave up and tried to restart Firefox again. This time it stayed up! So, I tried to find the crashes for 5/10. There were NONE! Apparently, the program didn't stay up long enough to generate and save a crash report the usual way.
But after trying to restart the "Stopped" services, Firefox stayed up long enough for me to read the page giving suggestions for crashes. I decided to restart in safe mode, and it stayed up again. So, both trying to restart some services and running in safe mode seem to work (we'll see).
I went into the App Data\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash reports directory and found two crash reports for 5/10. They were not in either the "Submitted" or the "Pending" subfolders. However, when I tried to copy them to another folder, they disappeared.
So, where do I go from here? I have a disabled browser that is important for my work. I especially need the Adobe Acrobat add-on to work. Can you fix this?
