I don't just surf the internet for fun it's my living so I'm going to have to start using Google Chrome instead.

What a waste of time.

I'm using Firefox 27 on Windows 7 and--all of a sudden, it seems--JavaScript has totally stopped working for websites on localhost. I've tried disabling my add-ons, restarting Firefox, clearing my cache, testing with the simplest script (basically just an alert() prompt that works fine in other browsers) but nothing. I load the page and nothing happens. Firebug (when I have it enabled) doesn't even detect any scripts in my localhost pages! The same pages work fine if they're hosted somewhere else, though. Help?

Hi!

HTML5 is great and I hope to get rid of Flash as soon as possible. That said, something is still bothering me when I play an HTML5 video (on youtube for instance): the screensaver is still on even though I'm full-screen.

Is there a config I missed or is it a bug within Firefox?

(I'm using Arch Linux with GNOME)

This began with the last update to Firefox a couple of days ago. The homepage was hijacked by Yahoo, and I am unable to change that. Both fields in the Option startup page are greyed out and cannot accept any changes. Restoring Firefox has had no effect. Also:

In spite of the fact that I selected to prevent pop-ups, they keep popping up at fast speed, mostly of a nature I am not interested to be bothered with.

Please help.

For the last several days Firefox has been running really slow. When I open a new window it takes about 20 - 30 seconds to open one or if I try to load a site with flash (say such as youtube) it takes about about the time to load the site and you can't click anything, such as back, address bar or even the X to close the window.

I've scanned for viruses and found nothing. I thought it was my computer when Firefox first started to go slow but I opened up Opera and Saferi to see what they was like and they are fine. Runs very smoothly. If I restart the computer Firefox will work great for say 2 hours before it starts to slowly slow down again over time (by about 5 hours later it's uber slow again!). I've also reset Firefox which again gave the same result as restarting the computer, fine for a couple of hours before starting to slow down again. Reinstalled Firefox but there again it's fine for a couple of hours.

I don't know what to do. Firefox is my main browser but I can't keep using it like this because it's taking forever to do anything.

my theme is only showing behind the toolbar (tabs, search bars, etc.) when i go to the "Mozilla Firefox start page", my theme is still only in the toolbar, and the rest of the page is white. Firefox doesn't open half the time. I get an invisible window, as indicated in the window pulldown menu, there are several no-name pages listed there (just a blank entry where a page name would be) and no window will open when I click the dock icon Mac OSX 10.6.8. I can't open Firefox from the dock until I completely quit and relaunch it.

I have Reset Firefox, tried with and without addons, COMPLETELY deleted all firefox files from my system (searched for all files hidden or otherwise for firefox) several times and reinstalled fresh, and the problem persists. I have repeatedly deleted sessionstore.js. I have repeatedly cleared cookies and cache. This has started within the last 3 or 4 updates to Firefox.

In a nutshell: Click dock icon when Firefox is running but no windows are open. Nothing. Check Window menu, I see a no-name page, or several no-name pages in the menu. Clicking them only puts a checkmark next to the blank item and no window shows. Only quitting and relaunching Firefox completely solves the issue.

FF 27.0.1 on Linux Mint 16 XFCE, up to date.

I have my Preferences set to 'Show my home page'.

Every time I close FF with the X in the top left corner, it comes up and asks me "Do you want Firefox to save your tabs for the next time it starts?". I check the box not to be asked next time, and have tried both Save and Quit, and just Quit. When I open the browser again it seems to randomly decide whether to open all the tabs I had last time, or sometimes (rarely) just my home page tabs.

I don't want it to open all the tabs I had open, and I don't want the question every time I quit FF. I've used FF for years with XP, but I am new to Mint.

Firefox used to be working fine, but ever since the upgrade to version 27.0.1, everything that I do inside the browser lags from time to time, quite frequently. I try to watch a video on Youtube, it lags for a bit in the middle of the video. I try to open a new tab, it lags a bit. I try to scroll down a page, it lags. I try to write an email, it lags while typing. The lag is a few seconds at arbitrary intervals.

I've tried restarting firefox with all addons disabled and it didn't work. What do you suggest I do next?

This is a new issue, as of today. I have not changed any of my settings for email defaults.

When clicking on the reply link on Craigslist, a window opens, giving options. I always choose the anonymizer. Today, when I clicked on it, Internet Explorer opened. When I right-clicked on IE to close the window, it rapidly opened up numerous tabs, each of which had the message "Navigation cancelled". I was unable to click on "close all tabs" for more than 30 seconds, by which time more than 50 tabs had opened. It took multiple attempts to close all those tabs.

Now, before you tell me to check IE settings, keep in mind that: 1) I NEVER use IE and 2) I have never had this problem in the past and 3) I have not changed any email default settings. Also, 4) I had no problems accomplishing my task on Chrome.

Something is haywire in Firefox 27.0.1 and I am at a loss as to what it might be or how to fix it. None of the online help pages has been of any use, up to this point. I have restarted Firefox and I have rebooted my computer.

Any ideas would be welcome

I am using Firefox 27.0.1. I can access the New York Times home page, but not load a page with a particular article. I cannot load the Guardian home page, but can load other webpages on the Guardian website. I do that by googling "Guardian" and clicking on, for instance, "Sport". If I click on "News" (the home page), I get the message: "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading." This happens with many websites and there is no change over time: I can always load some pages and I can never load other pages. With some websites, I have no problems at all.

My location bar only shows "Bookmark this page" and the history drop-down on the right-hand side. It used to have a button that switched between Refresh and Stop depending on whether a page was currently loading, which is no longer there.

It happened after restarting FF to install an add-on. I'm not sure if FF updated at the same time; it might have. I'm now on 27.0.1 and I had installed HideMyAss, which installed its own toolbar button, and in addition the Refresh and Stop buttons were no longer in my URL bar, but now they were separate buttons in the Navigation Toolbar.

I cannot get them to go back into the URL bar. I have uninstalled the add-on, I have tried to drag-n-drop the buttons onto the URL bar, and I have tried "Restore default set" in the toolbar customization dialog. None of these work.

Hello. Recently I have been getting this popup. I can close it and everything is fine, but it pops up every time I open something on a new tab.

A weird thing is it pops up on most pages but still not on some. For example I don't see it on facebook, google, youtube but it always pops up anytime I open a different page on my mozilla browser.

I tried the restart mozilla without addons and the popup wasn't there. So I checked my addon page and I have nothing but adblock running there. So I'm not sure how to get rid of this thing. I also checked my recently installed programs and there is nothing there either.

Here is a screenshot of the popup: http://i.imgur.com/LYTW0dl.png

Does anyone know how to get rid of this?

Thank you for your time.

When I try to get any Google page I get;

Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection to www.google.co.uk. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the web site owners to inform them of this problem. Alternatively, use the command found in the help menu to report this broken site.

I have cleared all history, restarted with add-ons disabled, reset Firefox, uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and just about everything else I can think of and what is suggested by web searches. I have scanned using Malwarebytes and Avast whilst in safe mode and found no nasties. This happens when I try to connect to https://www.google.co.uk/ or maps etc. If I remove the s from https it comes up with a page that says my flash player is out of date. Obviously I don't click on it. Adobe Flash Player is up to date. No problem connecting to ebay, Amazon and other sites.

I realise this isn't specific to Firefox as it happens with IE as well but I have to start somewhere and have found Mozilla support very helpful, so could you help please? Thanks Andy
