I-Firefox Isithangami Sokwesekwa

When I first click on Firefox my monitor shows an all black window for a home page. A small rotating circle shows up on the black window; the indicator that a web site is loading. After a few seconds the circle goes away and for a flash the screen shows the url itself of my established home page, with a bit of an outline of that opening. Just as quickly, that disappears and the window goes black again. I can close it by right clicking on the Firefox logo and selecting "close all windows," and I can minimize it by using the windows key and the letter M. I feel that the correct screen is underneath the black window, but to which I have no access.

Before all this happened the search engine Ask had made itself the home page for Firefox without my consciously asking for that. By going to the control panel and the Internet entry, I removed what had become the url (of Ask's supplied home page) in the choice for home page, with my usual one (www.excite.com). That's when the above trouble started and remains.

Obviously, I am writing this contact to the Internet and a different machine. On the computer with the problem I couldn't see what I am doing. I could have also used Windows Explorer on the troubled machine; it has not been affected with the same problem.

After updating to Firefox 27 all webpages take a few dozen seconds to several minutes to load. When loading a webpage Firefox's status displays "connecting" and the CPU gets maxed out with 95 to 100% of its cycles taking by Firefox.

The computer is older so it is a little slow but Internet Explorer 8 has no trouble opening the webpages and neither do other computers on the LAN so it is not a network issue. I have tried restarting Firefox, disabling add-ons, deleting add-ons, disabling hardware acceleration, restarting the computer, and reinstalling Firefox after wiping every trace of it and its user data from the hard drive and registry.

• Workaround,
  A chrome hack to disable the throbber may resolve the issue as a workaround allowing pages to load quickly. See my post /questions/985969?page=4#answer-595327

I've been using firefox for a really really long time, i notice that it is happining when I use any flash video , website, game especialy when enter to youtube , i got these shockwave errors. I can't recall downloading anything and I must have uninstalled and reinstalled the flash player at least many times. It's honestly starting to frustrate me. I love firefox, but if the browser refuses to work, I probably won't be using it for much longer. I tried every thing that I found in this forum but it is unusefull to me .

I opened a you tube video sent by a friend and it infected my computer with the S3 ytimg virus. The anti-virus software I use does not seem to remove it and it has caused my computer to operate very, very slowly.

Security exceptions have NEVER worked correctly for me, and I'm sick of it. Someone please help with this.

First of all, I posted about this months ago, the thread can be found here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/965352 . No personal ill-will toward the folks who responded, but none of the replies were helpful. Most were not even APPLICABLE. (This includes the final one, that I didn't respond to.)

Briefly: Occasionally, seemingly at random, a site (often one I've previously accessed with no problem) will start giving me the "This connection is untrusted" screen I'm sure you've all seen occasionally, ostensibly because of invalid security certificates, but in reality for no damn reason at all, at least not that I've ever been able to discern. I then click on the "I understand the risks => Add exception" option - unlike some others who have similar issues, I DO get this option, it's not greyed out or anything. This brings up the "Add Exception" dialog as expected, but apparently it's merely decorative, because when I click the Confirm Security Exception button at the bottom, LITERALLY NOTHING happens. The box doesn't close, no error message comes up, there is no visible change of any kind. I hope I'm being clear, when I say LITERALLY NOTHING happens I mean LITERALLY NOTHING happens.

(Sorry if that sounds condescending, but you'd be amazed at the number of times I've said something like that and the *immediate* response is something like "What did the error message say?". And looking at it from the other side, having done tech support, you'd be equally amazed at the things customers described as "nothing happening" that could not possibly be further from "nothing", including error messages that plainly spelled out what the problem was! I'm just trying to (a) avoid the first scenario, and (b) make it clear that this isn't an instance of the second one...)

To belatedly respond to the last message in the previous thread:

* I am NOT in private browsing mode
* There are no intermediate certificates involved (and even if there were, I would have no clue, based on that message, about HOW to get them). 
* Also, it's a very bad sign that this message expressed doubt about whether I had an option that my original post quite explicitly spelled out that I *did* have. Again, no personal ill-will, and I know the OP in that thread was rather long, but even so, that kind of thing makes me wonder what *else* about the problem the person responding might have misunderstood.

Anyway. Hope that's clear enough, if anything isn't, please ask. I'm happy to answer questions about my settings and whatever else might be relevant, much less happy to correct faulty assumptions after the fact. It seems that significantly more people than me have this problem, let's see if we can get it resolved once and for all.

- YouTube videos do not load the first time. All I see is an empty box. - If I refresh YouTube, it works. - The comments on YouTube NEVER load, no matter how many times I try to refresh. - This same problem occurs in various forms on other cites (Such as CBC.ca) - Certain video playing websites like VideoWeed simply do not work. - I've tried updating Flash, but it doesn't work. Trying to install it simply takes me to the Adobe home page. I had to use Chrome, do the same process, and copy the link that actually starts the download and put it into Firefox. - It still doesn't work. There are a plethora of small examples like this, but the simplest way I can put it is that Flash player is not working in a way that allows me to update Flash player, which is really, really, annoying. I've also tried updating through the addons section of Firefox, and the links there don't do anything for me either.

I just had to do a fresh install on my laptop after my hard drive fried. I reinstalled Firefox, and apparently it gave me a new version. I am an online student, and I need Java to run my school's website. However, when trying to find the appropriate tick box in the Options/Content menu, it is not there. I need Java to be on at all times, not just for one site. I also do not see anything about a red plugin icon on these websites; I don't see a plugin icon anywhere. I need this fixed ASAP, so I would appreciate a quick response. I cannot get homework done without it.

I regularly get a nonresponsive script, especially in a browser session that has been around for awhile. I find that if I end nonresponsive scripts, the browser remains stable. Heaven help me if I leave a browser window open for several hours, and return to the computer to find it tied up and it will take 15 minutes to respond to a mouse click or a keyboard entry until I can finally get Firefox shut down or forced to end.

I tried to use the "Always perform this action" check box and select to end the script. I figured if I choose that option it would always end a nonresponsive script when it's time for the box to appear.

I would prefer that over finding the computer tied up with a nonresponsive browser four hours later.

OS Windows XP SP3 and now Firefox 27.0.1

Gmail and YouTube seem to be two sites that are especially troublesome.

I can access Gmail on any other browser, but not Firefox. I have looked at other suggestions, and nothing works.

I have cleared Cache, History, etc. In fact, I have it that Firefox automatically clear cache and history when I close the browser. I also removed any cookies pertaining to Google or Accounts.Google, and I even tried disabling a few plug-ins and extensions that I use, yet it still won't load.

The error I get on the page is:

"The page isn't redirecting properly. Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete. This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies."

Prior to the last couple of weeks, once in awhile after closing Firefox and attempting to relaunch it, I would get an error message that it was still running and I had to close it before I could relaunch it. The last 2 weeks this happens just about every other time. I'd like to figure out if I have a setting that's bad or if recent Firefox updates caused this to increase or what. If anyone can help, I'd be greatful.

I updated to the latest version of Firefox, and ever since I did, I keep getting a tab on my pages, called, "Hot Deals". How do I get rid of this, and how do I stop new windows from opening, when I click on a link, or email, it opens a new window, instead of a new tab! Please help!!

Hi , I want to change the page when i'm opening a new tab. when I'm opening a new tab i see this page : http://i.imgur.com/J2LfDh7.jpg I've tried to change browser.newtab.url to about:blank and it didn't work I even tried to change browser.newtabpage.enabled to false , but no results. any help? ty. and other thing , I have lastpass extension for firefox , and when i'm trying to acess the vault it sending me back to the quick start page. how do i solve it?

So I recently switched from Opera to Firefox because they had a horrible updated that stripped all the features I loved. Anyways, the first week or so after using firefox it worked fine and never crashed, now recently it crashes almost every 30 minutes or so. I get a crash report asking me if I want to restart. I have no idea why it keeps crashing and I have tried closing all my tabs (I usually have about 6-7 open at all times), but the problem is still there. If you need any information ask and I'll give it. Thanks!

Mozilla was working fine at about 12pm yesterday February 5th. A couple hours later the flash player began crashing. According to Mozilla my software is up to date. Mozilla itself and flash player. I'm getting really annoyed by this issue.

This has been going on for at least a year. Every time I update Firefox I hope the issue will be resolved, but if anything it's worse. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling. I reset. I turned off Hardware acceleration. I updated all of my plugins and Firefox. I tried Safe Mode. I turned off protected mode in Flash. It has something to do with flash, I'm sure. I used flash blocker and it seemed to help, but not totally. I'll open a tab and it will freeze. Says (Not Responding). Little green processing circle will freeze as well. This happens with flash intensive sites, which these days is most sites. I tried using IE and the sites worked. It's gotten to the point that I actually have to stop using Firefox. What's the deal? Why is it STILL like this? The only resolution is to open task manager and close Firefox.
