I'm setting up a user on a new computer. I've exported her bookmarks from her old computer. On the new computer I go to Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks > (select bookmarks toolbar) > Import and Backup > Import bookmarks from HTML. I browse to my folder containing the bookmarks.html file, Open it, and nothing.

I've tried all the suggestions I can find. Places Database Verify Integrity gives me: > Task: checkIntegrity + The places.sqlite database is sane + The favicons.sqlite database is sane > Task: checkCoherence + The database is coherent etc. Opening the bookmarks.html file shows a list of bookmarks. That file is not empty.

This shouldn't be this hard. How do I accomplish this?

When I click on a Firefox menu (File, Edit, View, etc.) or the hamburger menu, or a drop-down menu on a web page, the menu appears. Then, when I move the mouse to hover over the menu, the menu vanishes. If, instead, I hold down the mouse button, I can move over the menu without it disappearing.

I'm using a focus-follows-mouse window manager (VTWM) and I think, somehow, Firefox is getting a focus change message when the mouse moves onto the menu. I think this because of the way the Firefox titlebar flickers from showing it's the active window to the inactive window, then active again, once the menu disappears.

Please advise.

Thanks, Richard

Hi, I have the problem that Firefox restarts after a crash, re-opening exactly the same windows that were open at the time of the crash, which most of the time reproduces the crash.

I want Firefox to restart with an empty window, like it is configured.

I have read a support entry that hints setting browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash to false, which does NOT to the job (anymore).

about.ef2a7dd5-93bc-417f-a698-142c3116864f.mozilla This ‘cookie’ (no size shown) has been showing up on my Firefox ‘manage website data’ since at least March ’23 and it will NOT delete. It may not be 'a real cookie' but I still can’t get rid of it.

When I searched online for that apparent address I found: https://gitlab.torproject.org/tpo/applications/tor-browser/-/issues/40175 The info near the top of that site’s page: Torbutton INFO: tor SOCKS: http://expyuzz4wqqyqhjn.onion/static/images/home/png/block-trackers@3x.png?h=70991bcb via --unknown--:cc55771ba6d6e8c6542066863a47e223 SOCKS is a username? And the ‘onion/hidden service’ address cannot be accessed unless using the Tor browser? So that seems a dead end for me.

I have seen 3 other people posting here in the past year about this particular cookie. hobro1 did an uninstall & still had to remove directories manually after getting some answers from several others. blazee decided – based on the answer given by jscher 2000 – that it probably wasn’t dangerous. mekishev 1 received an answer from cor-el that is incomprehensible to me, except for saying ‘it isn’t a real cookie’. I understand it may not 'a real cookie' but then why is it showing up in 'manage website data' where everything else is a cookie?

Can anyone help, please? I’m about to migrate over to a new computer and really don’t want to take this with me. I don’t like the fact that it persists, and that the cookies ‘keeper’ – SOCKS maybe? – is completely hidden.

Thanks much in advance for any assistance!

PS The only possible explanation I've come up with for how it got this cookie is when I was checking out some Firefox extensions; I didn’t even know what Tor was till trying to figure this out.

It worked totally fine yesterday, but today I cannot access ANYTHING in Hotmail. Firefox says it's up to date, but usually when I start having issues with Hotmail, it's because Firefox needs to update. Please help fix this problem! All other websites work fine! Thank you!

The print-out with Firefox captures only half on the picture and relevant info. Luckily, Safari prints correctly. I am wondering why can't Firefox do the job so I do not have to go to Safari for printing? This issue is not specific to this website, it happens often in many other cases. Is this being worked on? Thanks.

While on MacOS 10.14 (Mojave) Firefox desktop updates transitioned to an ESR channel. This was expected and worked just fine. I recently updated the MacOS to 12.7 (Monterey) but Firefox desktop updates are still on the ESR channel.

When I go to Firefox -> About Firefox it says the desktop browser is up to date and that it's on the Extended Support Release. This ESR is only good until September 2024. I don't think it's supposed to be on the ESR channel since the OS is now 12.7, rather, it should just be on a "regular" update channel. Is that correct?

If no, will updates for MacOS Monterey cease in September 2024 too? If yes, how do I get back to the regular updates?

TIA

Hello

I hope you can help.

Trying to sync my logins/passwords from my laptop to my desktop. It just doesnt work.

I have reset primary password, logged into both devices, selected sync on both devices. But it does not sync to desktop. Both machines come up in the Connected Services setion of my mozilla account.

When i try to manually enter logins & password on desktop list - it keeps asking me to enter my primary password (despite already being logged into firefox).

This is very frustrating so any help is greatly appreciated.

I've tested my certificates on SSLShopper and WhyNoPadlock and there were no issues on either. I've cleared the cache and history on my browser.

I've closed and re-opened the browser.

How do I fix this?

Im trying to halt fingerprint tracking, whoever designed Firefox's privacy.resistFingerprinting rule makes fingerprinting even more prevalent.

With privacy.resistFingerprinting set to FALSE, my resolution is reported : 1920x1080x24, set to TRUE its 1920x968x24

1 in 6 browsers has resolution 1920x1080x24 1 in 6000 browsers has resolution 1920x968x24

Who in Firefox decided this config rule? and what is the logic behind it? Looks like intentional sabotage to make peoples browsers more trackable.

Whilst leaving resistFingerprinting set to TRUE, How can I force my resolution to the more generic 1920x1080x24?

Is there another setting in about:config I can change? if there isnt, where can I request this feature? Id rather not resort to an extention for something so small like this.

I am using Firefox-ESR 115.6.0esr (64-bit) on Debian GNU/Linux 11 and I am trying to figure out how to get firefox to clear all the cookies except for a select few.

I had an issue where if I reboot my system and then re-opened firefox, it would automatically open my previous tabs, including my protonmail account, which was good. But if I tried to open a new tab for my protonmail account, I would get hit with a login page. This happened even though I had another active protonmail session going on in the existing tab.

I contact Protonmail and they linked me to this question and I tried to follow it but noticed something odd. the selected solution says > Make sure you use "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" and not "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear the cookies as the latter doesn't honor exceptions.

But, on my firefox, clicking "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" automatically results in "Clear history when Firefox closes" also being clicked and I can't seem to undo the association.

Is that answer outdated?
