Merely typing an email when the tab and window it was in shut down (am using linux mint and most recent FF build.) I have difficulty understanding programmer directions as typically given but can follow a path > to files and folders. I found firefox old backups and sessions folder but none of the session restore files are dated, won't open and won't restore. I wish there was a straight-forward path to restore "my sessions" when issues develop. Just show me where the file path > where the files are > and what to click. Thank you.

Default Bookmark Folder

It's a recommended addon, but It seems that it's no longer being supported. Version is two years old, and issues reported on github are not responded to.

I wonder if anyone could recommend another addon with the same features.

bold text My FF web pages are way too wide and I have to scroll all the time from side to side, to see the whole page, back and forth! Hate it! Not workable. Not only that, the menu texts (not the fonts on the page) are way too small, unless I reduce the whole page with the limited percentage size, and then none of it is readable to me. For a while 67% size helped but not even that works right and I am CONSTANTLY trying to adjust things so I can see them! It used to work great and now it is a CONSTANT BATTLE TO FUNCTION!

Firefox version 106.0.1 Windows 11pro. Youtube videos will not play, unless they are Live. Weird. Checked internet. Loads on phone, loads fine in Edge. Restarted FF, cleared cache and cookies, tried private browsing, started in troubleshoot mode with no addons-- even the ad video at the top won't play. What else am I missing? Why will the live videos play but not the others? That seems like a clue, but I've hit the end of my ideas. I was able to watch youtube two days ago, the only change (afaik) is a Firefox update this morning.

Dialing a phone number with Google Voice worked before, but now fails. It prompts me to Register for that feature https://voice.google.com/calls?forceBanner=tel-registration but when I click on that link, nothing happens. [See first picture]

Settings | General | Applications seems to show 'tel' is assigned to Google Voice [see second picture] so as per a Google Voice help dialog, I changed it it 'always ask' [third picture]. This did no solve the problem.

I have removed any private information and kept the balance for everyone review and comments and left dead Mozilla addresses, which is not private or personal.

Start paste ________ Re: Your case, 00119811: Contacting anyone

20 Oct 2022 13:24NZST (20 minutes ago)

to Mozilla I note this total lack of focus on the users continues, with more forced unwanted "functionality", forced start menu shortcuts and no fixes of the reported previous issues etc., some of which can be "fixed" via a not recommend code, patch or "playing" in the config settings.

I believe most of this is driven by a race for dollars before totally pissing off the bulk of the users and will end up with much less dollars.

Urgently, regain your focus on the users themselves, provide settings in the main window that allow the users to manage nearly all settings, allow them to add or remove extra functionality, i.e. list all tabs, Firefox mode, backspace issues, search positioning etc etc. remove "Personalize new tab" does not need to be there at all, include in settings.

Further, the issue reporting requirements and process are still onerous and Mozilla's/Firefox shutting down topics on the community pages is a "We know best" approach which highlights this complete lack of user focus.

I suggest: -A new group of coders that focus on the users first and foremost, while not all of their recommendation may be implemented, they should have some priority -An open and honest discussion amongst all stakeholders on each issue as and when required -A commitment to rollback all of the unnecessary "fixes" that pissed off some of the user groups that complained, remember it must have really pissed them off to start to complain and most will be silent regardless. -and any other items that revert Mozilla and Firefox back to its original drivers

Actioning all of the above, will longer-term, retain users, drive recommendations and gain new users and will have a material impact, again as per my last email attached and as I predicted, the current user share is diminishing and will continue to do so unless significant change in methodology and focus is rolled out ASAP.

Sent late Sept 2021 Hi Tom, and team,

Somewhat ironically, the "new features" mostly include unfriendly removal of normal configuration as has been standard across all browsers since year dot as well as unneeded overheads and other.

Continuing the irony, my apparently unified login, previously known as my Mozilla login, now my Firefox login is invalid for ideas.Mozilla.org for which I apparently need a separate one, reporting this as a bug or as a requested feature update I need another separate one.

The whole process of reporting and communicating to the Dev team directly (via support or other), the navigation to such, the escalating of such is horrendous. You may end up with multiple reports and somewhat incomplete reports form average users, however asking users to have all of these extra log-ins, to read the bug treatise, to navigate through this laborious - totally the reverse of a streamlined, thought-out process is symptomatic of the lack of focus on user feedback and I believe, the users themselves.

I understand during a reconfiguration there may be teething troubles, however this is not the case, it has been this way for a long time and continues to get more distant from a user friendly experience.

If you read between the lines above, I will not be gong through to deas.mozilla.org via 2 log-in's, to go to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/file-bug-report-or-feature-request-mozilla to try to select the correct repository and having read the clumsy tome, report a "fix" needed for something that should never of been rolled-out, to go though to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Firefox (or other) to log-in again and still be no closer to any kind-of direct, meaningful and constructive solution when I can "hack" the about:config and these issues IMO have been reported via https://support.mozilla.org on more than one occasion.

Yours sincerely Phil B

Sent late Sept 2021 Please forward to Dev management. There is no link between the support volunteers and Mozilla, there is no way to contact Mozilla, there is no way to ask for a simple roll-back of a "new" unwanted feature i.e. backspace not working, search tab/bar/screen position. Firefox is losing it's way and ignoring and not appearing to want any constructive feedback and no way to monitor or act on it. People are leaving. _____ end paste.

the labels toggle button on google maps is unresponsive in both satellite and maps views. where do i find a setting to allow this button to become active? can i program the button to become active? thanks for any help.

i'm on windows 11 and use firefox web browser. both are up to date. i tried it on the microsoft edge browser and it works.

i've tried disabling all addons, restarted firefox, and problem still exists.

next i went through all of my firefox settings and toggled those that might apply. problem still exists.

next went into about:config and checked all settings not set at default. toggled any that might apply. problem still there.

any other suggestions in the community? is there a particular area of firefox i should look into closer. i would prefer not to have to reinstall or reconfigure firefox on a wholesale level. i have it highly customized and it would take multiple hours over a number of days to get everything back to where it is. this is the only site giving me a problem, and only this function on the site.

under layers/more the globe view toggle works fine, only the labels view toggle is not working.

i inspected the button element in 'firefox inspect' and found the attribute disabled="false". google maps is not honouring the attribute. when i remove the attribute, the button works. i cannot apply this across sessions though.

Not sure which update caused the issue, since I've been delaying updates for a little while (maybe 15 days or so). Immediately after starting Firefox, the Intel graphics driver stops working, which causes Firefox to hang on a white screen. The windows warning is something close to "Intel graphics driver stopped responding and has recovered". The only way I can start Firefox is in troubleshoot mode. I tried disabling hardware acceleration, which solves the problem but I'd like to keep using the GPU so it's not really a good solution. So I forced Firefox to use the NVIDIA GPU (gtx 960m) on the NVIDIA control panel. This worked, Firefox starts and works as normal again but within just a few hours has already caused the NVIDIA GPU drivers to stop responding once, prompting Firefox to stop responding too and hang on a white screen. Restarting Firefox fixed the problem. This might have been a fluke but I'd like to keep using the Intel integrated GPU, if possible.

I'm using Windows 8.1 and my laptop has an i7-4720HQ (Intel HD Graphics 4600) and a GTX 960m. I'm using the latest version of Firefox 106.0.2

Any idea what might be causing the problem? I haven't had any trouble with either GPU on any other occasion

Need help here for a long time Firefox user. I really don't want to have to use another browser, especially one that is not open source. I embrace FOSS for what I believe are the right reasons, I'll spare you the stump speech. As noted, I'm a long time Firefox user, on desktop and Android. I've grown to take some measure of hiccups to stay FOSS. However, this past week, has been unbearable. YouTube is just flat out broken. Pages just stall, fail to load entirely or I get a "not connected" message. This of course makes me want to scream with my Verizon gig connection. I had numerous extensions set up for blocking adds and maintaining a spy-proof (yeah, I know...) experience. I turned them all off, although not uninstalled. I'll go there if need be. So right now, I'm using Firefox as much as possible and only using Chrome for YouTube and/or when another page just flat out doesn't move. Edge sucks, we all know that. Where and what should be done please. I've performed the basics and reviewed other troubleshooting that included turning off hardware acceleration and deleting temp files, etc. Hoping for a hail Mary, or new information that will allow me to get back to surfing with a safe and reliable FOSS option. Oh, and this is mainly just happening with Windows 10. Ubuntu, not so much, but I need to have Windows for all of the bad reasons we all do. Thanks muchly. Appreciate you reading and responding.

Firefox Updates:

Automatically install updates (recommended) = OFF When Firefox is not running = OFF (It's on but greyed out because of the above setting) Check for updates but let you choose to install them = ON

Is it normal that firefox still creates this "telemetry" folder even when auto updates are OFF? C:\ProgramData\Mozilla-1de4eec8-1241-4177-a854-e594e9c1fb38 UpdateLock-CA7422744AE1A41C

As suggested i added these two lines to firefox.cfg lockPref("app.update.background.enabled", false); lockPref("app.update.background.scheduling.enabled", false); Seem like firefox doesn't give a ****? How can i once and for all fully disable both these settings? Automatically install updates (recommended) = OFF When Firefox is not running = OFF

By the way, during the installation i DID NOT install the maintenance service, so why exactly is the exe in the directory anyways??
