I lost my old session and while attempting to fix the issue I overwrote my sessionstore.json backups in the process. Now all i have are the upgrade.jsonlz4 files, i know those are old session backups from when we upgraded. how do i go about restoring those as a session? when i follow the typical session restore steps nothing happens seemingly because its a jsonlz4 - XXXXXX file.

Any way to change it to a normal jsonlz4 file?

I've saved and can use the log-in details for a particular site, but they doesn't show up in the password list, so I cannot edit/delete them. Whilst it may not be relevant and may confuse the issue more, the reason I want to delete log-in + password is because I have to create a new account every 2-3 months, which I then save. So when loading the home page, the current and all previously saved log-ins get listed. I've tried to manually delete one when on the home page, but unlike keystroke searches which do get deleted, this one remains in the list. I suppose I could clear everything and save all the log-in details for each site again, but why are the log-ins for one particular site not showing up ?

Thanks

As a Teacher I load SCORM modules into Canvas. Up to last May they all worked just fine. School just started and I'm now finding my SCORM modules will not open with Firefox. If I use Chrome they work just fine. I have refreshed Firefox and also gone into troubleshooting mode. They still won't load. They do load when played directly from my hard drive. I can't help that some security feature in a newer version of Firefox is blocking this.

Using Windows 11. I'm using a free Proton VPN. My Firefox version is 103.02. I want to be able to continue to use the VPN when using Firefox to check my gmail accounts. If I disconnect the VPN, Firefox lets me access my mail site without a problem. When I use the VPN connected, I'm getting a PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR

Is there a way to keep the VPN on and connect with no error? Is there a Firefox setting I can change? I don't have proxy selected in Win 11 connections. Cache is cleared.

I can no longer use Yahoo Mail on Firefox and have had to move to Chrome and Bing in the short term.

1) Contacts no longer show up when starting to compose a mail

2) Writing a mail - the CTRL key no longer work. CTRL I opens a Page Info CTRL B Opens Bookmarks etc....

3) None of the buttons work at the top -Move -Delete -Spam

Basically, Firefox is useless for Yahoo Mail now!

Firefox is normally the best, but not yesterday or today.

Hope it can be fixed soon.

When using Google Sheets in Firefox, it's impossible to access the Sheets menu shortcuts (e.g. typing Alt+D+R+S to open the advanced sorting dialog) because Firefox captures the Alt keystroke and doesn't pass it to the web app.

Of course, Chrome passes the Alt keystroke to Sheets just fine so the keyboard shortcuts work as expected. But I don't want to use Chrome or any other Chromium browsers. Has anyone found a workaround to this issue? (Hint: don't say use chrome)

I was surprised today to visit a site and notice the "permissions" icon appear at the left of the address bar, showing me that cross-site cookies were allowed for this site. I have Enhanced Tracking Protection set to "Strict", so obviously this was a worrying thing to happen.

Looking into it a bit further, it seems Firefox provides a backdoor for cross-site cookies: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/third-party-trackers?as=u&utm_source=inproduct#w_managing-cross-site-cookies

  • "While cross-site cookies from trackers are blocked in Firefox by default, a site may signal to the browser that it needs to use them for important functionality. In this case, Firefox will allow a third-party website to use cross-site cookies the first five times (or up to 1% of the number of unique sites you visit in a session, whichever is larger) without prompting you. After that, Firefox will prompt you to block these cookies. Without your consent, Firefox blocks these cookies from that point because a site requesting access that many times may be a tracker."

This is most definitely not what I want!

I want every cross-site cookie to be blocked by default, unless and until I explicitly approve it. Is there an about:config preference I can set to achieve this?

Taking a look at the screenshot attached below you will see the librewolf browser which is a fork of firefox, blocks system font detection by default. How does librewolf do that? I hope by reading your reply i will be able to achive the same outcome with firefox. I'm also interested on how to block system local time readout/detection with firefox as i have so far not found a solution to this issue. As a privacy focused person i do not see any reason why any website would be interested in the timezone of my operatingsystem. This information is most likely not even necessary for functionality. From my knownledge the android browser named bromite (source: https://www.bromite.org/) does block timezone detection by default, since firefox is a privacy browser i fail to understand why this feature is not included to the settings tab.

PS: I'm not interested to making any suggestions anywhere, i want to modify firefox to block both system font and system timezone detection, any help is welcome...

When downloading files, Firefox no longer remembers the directory path the file was previously saved to on a per-URL basis.

Previous Firefox behavior: #1. download file from website "aaaa.com" to a folder on your computer, "user/frank/companies/aaaa/". #2. download file from website "bbbb.com" to a folder on your computer, "user/frank/companies/bbbb/". #3. Now, go back to the website "aaaa.com" and attempt to download another file. Firefox used to present the previously used directory for this particular URL, in this case, "user/frank/companies/aaaa/" - but instead, now it presents the most recently used directory path, which was "user/frank/companies/bbbb/".

This issue has appeared before and the advice to fix it was to go about:config, search for browser.download.lastDir.savePerSite and make sure it is set at TRUE. I have done this, but the issue remains: Firefox no longer remembers saved file directory paths on a per-URL basis.

MacOS 11.6.6 (Big Sur); Latest Firefox (103.0.2) Attempts to fix: Safe Mode - issue still present; Refresh Firefox - issue still present

Is there any advice on how to fix this problem? - Thxs.

I am pasting this video link first to show exactly is happening when I use Google Images Search results. https://youtu.be/HD-GPkORQPA

This happened suddenly. Everything was fine when I last used google image results, I was playing a game and when I alt+tabbed to search for something, this was happening. I have no idea what could have caused it since I didn't install any new extensions, CSS styles, programs in my PC nor any big changes that would give me an idea of where to start.

I already tried disabling all the extension and that didn't help at all. The only way I've managed to make this stop, was when I opened a private window. There the image search results were fine and I could zoom in, and out and no weird scrollbar issues were happening.

I went back to a normal window in Firefox, and noticed that if I log out from my Google account, this will also fix the issue. And when I logged back in, the issue was happening again.

Anyone have any idea why this would happen, and how I can fix it? Thank you!

When I use the scrollwheel, I prefer the image/spreadsheet table/webpage, whatever, to move when, and only as long as I turn the wheel, and immediatly stop moving as soon as I stop turning the wheel.

But FireFox has some sluggish 'creep', by which I mean that the pages keeps (slowly) moving before it finally stops. I personally find that very annoying. It's like having old and rusty brakes on your car.

I checked about:config, but there are many options regarding scrolling, and none of them makes it clear to me what it does.

Can some kind soul tell me how to give me back full control of my mousewheel? Turn = move Don't turn = don't move

TIA!

Hello. I have had an issue with new tabs not opening in Firefox for about two days. My browser is updated to the latest version. The best way to describe the issue is like this: every time I boot up the browser, everything will be working fine. Then, within 4-5 minutes, tabs will stop opening. Every time I want to open a new webpage in a new or already existing tab, it will get eternally stuck on the loading stage. However, if I have something like a youtube playlist running in one of the tabs, it will switch from video to video with no problem. If I close the browser and try to open in again, it won't open (although I've already figured out that the latest issue can be solved with an administrator mode). Other browsers are working fine and don't have such issue.

I have tried reloading the browser, reloading the computer, cleaning cache/history/cookies, running the browser without any addons, running the debug mode, reinstalling the browser (twice), running the antivirus check, creating a new firefox profile. Nothing helps. Also, the problem persists in the debug mode - when I open it, the pages load for 3-5 minutes and then the tabs stop opening as well.

Please suggest what can I do to fix this issue.

Every time Firefox updates itself, all of the text and images and page layouts become huge. I have tried every single fix that is usually suggested for this issue:

Zoom out with scroll wheel: Makes text smaller (and images, if I disable zoom text only) but does not fix page layouts (ex. Google search still has a horizontal scroll bar, even in full screen.)

layout.css.devPixelsPerPx: No effect at all. Can be made bigger at values over 1.0, but not smaller.

Compact mode: Sizes down the toolbar, but nothing in the webpages themselves.

Refresh Firefox: Still huge.

Safe Mode: Still huge.

Disabled all extensions: Still huge.

Complete uninstall with all leftover system files removed with RevoUninstaller, then reinstall: Still huge.

Other browsers: Display correctly. Absolutely no issues with size, including Firefox forks like Librewolf. (See attached image for direct comparison between the two browsers.)

I can temporarily alleviate the issue by using a restore point on my computer from about a week ago but when I opened Firefox this morning, it bumped me to an update page, and everything was huge again.

I was previously using a non-native screen resolution while I was recovering from surgery in bed and the screen was too far to see at 1920x1080. But I did not have this problem for two months of recovery. It started just a couple days ago. Returning the screen to its native resolution has not resolved the issue. Firefox, and only Firefox, is still enormous.
