I want vertical tabs on the right and vertical bookmarks on the left ALL THE TIME. LEFT and RIGHT are important here, and should not be disregarded. It was perfect back in firefox 4x, but then something happened. I have something like 700 bookmarks, and it takes forever for them to load from the 'bookmarks' button. I export them to html, which file I use as a home page, but the vertical list on the left is better.

Hi! Unlike in some other browsers, "Home" button in Firefox menu can be linked only to the page, which is set as Firefox home page. For example, if you want to start Firefox with new tab page, than you can't assign google.com as a load page for "Home" button in menu.

I think it will be a good idea to have a setting in "Personalization" that will allow tie "Home" button to the desired page. Best Regards, Bogdan

I would like to have a region search button available right under the search bar, basically like google chrome - you can just select tools then country and "my country" or "South Africa" or whatever region you are in.

Right now you need to click tools - advanced search - (then you cant even type the first letters of your country, you have to scroll down through hundreds of countries) then select advanced search. Takes me roughly 20sec per search when it could take me 2 clicks. This seems ridiculous when it could be - Tools - Country - click (like chrome)

So the user can customize it with a value (hex). The current about:config command is too general, as that one will also change the color of websites that allow customized background colors. (meaning that sadly the current about:config command will change both new tab AND the background color of specific websites.)

In Chrome if I want to do either of the following:

1. Click link on a page using Ctrl+Left mouse click or 2. Click a bookmark using ctrl+left mouse click

The link opens in a background tab without leaving the page I am on or closing the bookmark menu.

This does not happen in FF and no key combinations I have researched or tried will duplicate this action which Chrome allows.

Since going back to FF it is hands down the best browser there is - however I am finding my inability to open the tabs in the background like I could in Chrome to be frustrating.

Any help to achieve this would be great.

I am using WIn10 FF 6301 (64)

Thanks in advance.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/change-fonts-and-colors-websites-use

I have pinned about:preferences#content to access Colors and switch between Always or Never but a toolbar button would be much better.

There are a few addons related to this like https://addons.mozilla.org/bg/firefox/addon/toggledocumentcolors-198916/ but after firefox 57 is released they would probably not work and most of them are too complicated.

Is it even possible to write a simple addon using web extensions for a toolbar button to simply switch between the colors defined in Prefences > Colors and the default web page colors?

Despite incessant FF versions/updates and obvious complaints and demands from FF users, FF Quantum fails to provide FF users with simple settings for changing font/font style/font size of FF tabs/bookmarks/toolbars! Prior to Quantum FF57, the easy to use add-on Theme Font & Size Changer worked but yet despite FF user complaints, no Quantum version (now FF62!!!!!!!) integrates the accessibility features and functionality of such add-on. We need FF tabs in arial black font, e.g.! Inexcusable! Pisses us off! Time to switch browsers!

Using FF 62

When I click on show all bookmarks I get the library window and can easily search for bookmarks. Unfortunately the folder is not identified. I looked at the column heading thinking I could add the folder to the columns but to my surprise... folder is not available as a column choice.

Is there any way to add FOLDER LOCATION to the columns in the bookmark library? If not, how can I submit this suggestion to Mozilla?

Is it possible to disable Typeahead on some pages? Typeahead works great 99% of the time but sometimes it interferes with an interface's keyboard shortcuts, therefore an 'exclude' list would be very handy.

A good example is Google Calendar. I want to use the keyboard shortcut to go to 'Today', which is 't'. Instead this kicks Typeahead off, searching for anything that begins with 't'.

Before the big update there were A LOT of very small but extremely useful addons; e.g. show parent folder of favourites in the bookmark manager, go to parent directory (especiall helpful when using the search there), pick an icon of your own choosing for the folders in my favourites bar - which was extremely helpful because it saved spaced (I now didn't need a label for a folder!!!!) not after the update these addons don't work anymore, and also you guys didn't implement these things by yourself - sadly I can not code, so coming up with my own addon is out of the question as well.

When viewing a picture in Firefox, it used to display the picture itself as a bookmark/favicon in its tab. That was super useful for anyone working with multiple tabs of pictures. But it stopped working somewhere between versions 62 and 63. Now it won't show anything or, at best, just the website's favicon if it's an online picture (please refer to the attached picture). How can I get that feature working again?

Note: "browser.chrome.favicons" doesn't exist in "about:config" in current version. So I guess solutions involving it won't work.

This is not an issue of being inflexible to change. Some people are unable to function without text for identification. Icons need to have three options. Text. Text under icon. Icon. This was previously available, and MUST be returned to the interface. Likewise, the ability to use pages, not tabs, and to have the tab disappear when it is a single tab, is a function that is necessary. The narrow screens that now exist lack vertical real estate, and anything that wastes that space is a fault, not a perk. Until Firefox fixes these issues, I have ceased using it, and now use other, more adaptable, browsers.

Mozillas regularily forces updates in some applications, regardless if plug-ins will run in the updated version. This mechanism is obviously not meant to be blocked by the user in any way.

For me - and I think, I am not alone - Firefox is only the browser of choice thanks to certain plug-ins. Speed, security, design, usability - Firefox and Thunderbird are worthless, if my essential plug-ins are absent.

I design my systems to be near maintenance free, so the last thing I need is a browser update that smashes everything and makes my users mad. Workarounds for the annoying screwed up update policy is costing me ever more time.

Please, can you: - build in a routine to check the availbility for selected plug-ins BEFORE updating - advanced: if there are multiple target versions, automatically select the newest one that

supports the whole set of selected plug-ins

- ask the user if he wants an update

and first of all:

- refrain reliably from updating when the USER or ADMINISTRATOR does not want it; ask him so.

--> Do not update just because someone clicked on 'About'

PLEASE.

Since I'm sharing all bookmarks between my firefox for desktop and firefox in my android smartphone, I use to take all my bookmarks in the menu bar of my firefox for desktop, then accessing bookmarks from firefox in the smartphone by selecting "desktop pc bookmarks" > "bookmarks menubar" > ... What I don't like at all is firefox always opening bookmarks selection menu in its "root" folder, so that I always have to navigate the bookmarks selection menu to go to the last used bookmarks folder. I suggest firefox for android to retain last selected bookmarks folder, like chrome does! (much smarter behavior)

The Mozilla Answer page: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recovering-important-data-from-an-old-profile#w_copying-files-between-profile-folders, provides some pretty good information about which files to recover, but, doesn't include the general population's need to recover their last sessions, so a mention on this same page would be extremely helpful. Next, I found the places.sqlite file will update automatically without shutting down Firefox (most likely when the computer is put to sleep and then awakened). A warning about this little known file updating would be helpful to those who learned about their lost history, but choose to wait until later, like recovering it prior to shutting down, but they will have lost the opportunity when the places.sqlite file self updates itself automatically (who knows exactly when or why) I'd like to see this important information placed your answer on this same (above) troubleshooting page, because when I loose history caused by a proper shut down, I'll need to your page infor to remind me what to be cautious about. And I don't believe you have created a back up file to places.sqlite to which I can recover and rename yet, because I believe the closest name to it has very little memory in it, but I could be wrong.
