I'm using Windows 10 and Firefox 97.0 x64. It was working just fine for a long time now, but I shut down my computer and when I turned it back on Firefox would load, but I couldn't navigate to any webpage not could I pull up about:config or anything.

I tried uninstalling it, restarting it, uninstalling Microsoft Visual C++ redistribute 2015 x86 and x64. Nothing worked.

I then installed the x86 version of Firefox and it was able to load pages. Any ideas on how I can get Firefox 64-bit working on my PC again?

To the best of my knowledge I have not added any new extensions any time recently.

Submitting using Chrome, which may have to become my default browser.

Firefox 96.0. Windows 11 Pro Version 10.0.22000 Build 22000

Since installing FF 96, the program has stopped loading pages. Will not even load home page. Starting in troubleshooting mode sometimes works, but sometimes does not.

No extensions are installed.` I have tried Refreshing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Neither helps. Multiple instances of FF are started with every launch, even when the launch results in a blank page.

Any advice would be helpful.

Thank you,

Firefox updated to 97.0 (64-bit) this morning for me and immediately ceased functioning. It could not even load about:addons or about:settings. Other browsers worked fine, and by processes of elimination I found it to be Webroot that was causing the dysfunction. I've already opened a support ticket with Webroot, but I wanted to make Mozilla aware of this conflict and to ask if there is anything that I can do to remedy this besides completely disabling my anti-virus/spyware to use Firefox?

After MickeySoft's Patch Tuesday today, I found that KB5010342 prevents Firefox from running. I'm running Win10 Pro with FF 97.0 64-bit and with this patch installed, FF opens with a blank screen and no DNS lookup or anything. Other browsers like Chrome or Edge load and work without issue. After manually uninstalling this patch, Firefox again works like it should.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.

After the Firefox 97 upgrade, no pages will load. No hourglass. No error message. Just blank. Internal FF pages like about:config are the same. Ctrl + B for the bookmark sidebar works intermittently on new tabs, but not on the stuck/blank/non-loading URLs.

Tried reinstalling FF, no luck. 1 old profile worked briefly w/ 97, but only until the next restart. Creating a fresh profile w/ 97 had same error.

Reverting to FF 96 and everything works fine. Assuming you have a backup of your user profile, as 96 won't load the profile once 97 had broken/upgraded it...

This is a Dell Precision 7760 w/ Win 10 Pro, about 6 months old.

1 older machine, running Win 10 Home & synced FF to same account upgraded to 97 and is working fine.

Have temporarily had to disable auto updates until some way to solve this issue is found.

So yesterday I got a new computer and downloaded Firefox to be my default browser. It worked fine the first few hours -- I was able to log into my account, set up my extensions, and use the browser as intended. A few hours in, though, it completely crashed on me. I am unable to go to new websites, refresh a page, open bookmarks, log in to my Firefox account, or even open settings; the home screen also doesn't load when I open a new tab. Literally the only thing I can do is freeze the Bookmarks Toolbar and customize the Toolbar. I tried closing and reopening, refreshing/resetting the browser, restarting my computer, going into Troubleshoot mode, deleting and redownloading the application, but nothing is working. I have no trouble with Firefox on my previous computer or my phone, and Edge is working fine on this computer. I don't know what to do anymore. Any help would be much appreciated.

Firefox upgraded to 97 overnight and now using a pen in the browser just drags the page around. It was working normally yesterday, and now it doesn't. I'm trying to write using a pen on D2L's Brightspace, and now the pen just drags the page about. Doesn't do that with the mouse, but one can't write with a mouse. Microsoft Ink setting is set to use let me use a pen as a mouse, just as it was yesterday, but now Firefox is absolutely useless in this regard.

I can't get my work done.

The Firefox on my PC abruptly stopped working for pretty much no discernable reason and I don't know what to do. I've tried restarting the PC, uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox and nothing.

I dont get an error message. It just...doesn't start. If I reinstall it, I'm able to get the browser pulled up but then nothing on it works. It won't take me to any websites, it won't open the settings, it won't do anything. Refreshing the browser doesn't work either.

Failing that, I hopped on my phone and attempted to troubleshoot using information on this very site. I discovered that the problem might be stemming from corrupted profile data. I attempted to load the profile manager from Windows using command prompts...but that command doesn't do anything either.

I attempted to find the profile data on my computer and delete it...didn't work. I tried to reinstall Firefox to have it generate new browser data and that didn't work either. I dont know what to do and I dont know I'm supposed to fix this.

Please help, thank you in advance.

yesterday firefox worked fine. Today when I opened it, it was slow loading my homepage (my email account) and would open new windows but never open anything in them. It would open new windows from links in an email. It would give no error messages and there was no spinning circle or anything else to indicate that it was working. When I typed in an address and entered, nothing happened. I tried the refresh, but that window wouldn't open. I did a reinstall and now my home page won't even come up. Firefox went floppy today. Had to remove and replace, now with 97.0. Browser only partially works. my about:new tab lost all functionality, it is blank. Also, when I try to load any site from the Firefox Troubleshooting site all I get is a blank page with no actionable items. Formerly active about:newtab now gives a blank page.

Actions tried: (Computer is a new Dell Optiplex 3038) Removed and reloaded Firefox Restarted computer several times Powered down both modem and router and restarted after 5+ minutes Nothing helped.

Here's the kicker, I have a Dell 9010 Optiplex in the same room and a laptop in another room. Both of these computers are running Firefox with no problems. The about:newtab functions as before with all web pages showing.

All units are running Webroot SecureAnywhere software as the anti-virus software.

On this page we have: "We've made some educated guesses about your current browser and operating system. Show details »" Trying to access this link gives, again, a blank page. Help Norvell Nelson

Firefox has been awesome. But, my computer just updated to windows 11 and now it doesn't work. Sometimes I try to open the browser and nothing happens (but I somehow end up with something like 7 instances of it running in the background, according to task manager), sometimes I get it to open, but it won't load my homepage or anything, and sometimes it seems to work fine but only for a little while - then it just stops responding.

I have no idea why this is happening or how to fix it. I tried the browser reset, which helped for a little bit but then the problems came back. I think having a theme installed makes it worse, but now I can't even get settings to open so I can try turning it off to see if that helps.

Any ideas? Not being able to use the internet on my computer is a pretty big deal. I'd prefer to not switch browsers, but I don't know what other option I've got at the moment.

Thanks!

I've had this browser installed on my computer for about a year. It is worth noting that, all of the browsers worked perfectly fine before. However, after roughly 3 weeks of regularly seeing that all of the browsers on my Windows 10 PC (Opera, Firefox, Tor) except Chrome browser don't seem to start up. When I run Firefox.exe, it opens for a fraction of a second, displays a text box, and then closes. I tried recording my screen to understand what's written more clearly, and it said "Profile Missing". But not the familiar profile missing error. this one closes immediately, and with no text, only the title. It is also important to mention that all of the files associated with the browser also won't open, except helper.exe. For example, this command "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P to open the profile manager will show the same error.

Things I tried:

1. Refreshing the browser. 2. Uninstalling and reinstalling. 3. Removing the appdata profiles folder. 4. Installing other versions of Firefox. 5. Scanning for malware with 3 different Antivirus programs.

And so far non of these methods worked. I would like to get an answer on how to fix this. Thanks.

Hi, We are the computer support company for a client who is having an issue with Firefox.

Firefox will either not open, or it will open to a blank page and the client is unable to browse to anywhere.

Task Manager shows a number of instances of Firefox are running. Ending these tasks does not help.

The computer is running Windows 10 Pro - 21H2 - with all Windows updates installed. It has Webroot anti-virus. Google Chrome works OK.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled, after renaming the folders in C:\Program Files and in C:\Windows\Users\Norma\AppData\Local and Roaming

Is there a current issue with Firefox that I am unaware of? I use it myself and I am not having any issues.

Manyy thanks

Long story short, today I received v97. Firefox would no longer open websites. Settings would not open. about:config would not open. Tried killing my profiles. Complete clean installs. None of it worked. Something is 100% wrong with v97, at least for my system. I can install 94 no problem. 96.0.3 no problem. As soon as 97 hits, everything breaks.

I love firefox and would love to troubleshoot the issue, but it's not possible. Most of the time, v97 won't even open, so launching the troubleshooter mode is impossible. And if it does open, selecting troubleshooter results in a crash.

No idea if any of this is helpful, but this is what one of them spat out:

My firefox on my laptop was working just fine until it stopped displaying anything under the search bar. I tried reloading, End Tasking the browser, Refreshing the Install, Uninstall re-install, reboot computer and nothing is letting my laptop firefox display.

it wont even let me access settings or other menu options. It sometimes books up troubleshoot mode but that also has the same issues.

laptop is windows 10 lenovo. firefox is 97.0 64bit version. was working 2 hours ago.....
