I had a system crash, probably with Firefox opened.

After restarting PC and starting Firefox, most of the addons I have had lost all of their settings and were reset to default - Tampermonkey lost all the scripts I had installed, uBlock lost all settings and rules, etc. Weirdly some extensions kept portions of their settings, like TreeTabs saved tree structure despite also getting reset to default.

Additionally Firefox also got its own settings reset to default, while the tabs from my session and bookmarks were saved.

Is there any way to recover addon and Firefox settings, is there any backup of them?

I am getting apparently random redirects to mostly r.svrtrack.com, there has been one other.

I checked my addons and installed programs and can't find anything unexpected.

I have scanned with Malwarebytes and Windows Security and they can't find anything.

I haven't captured a screenshot, will do so next time it happens.

Pls halp, Tim

I recently migrated from Chrome to Firefox, and have been facing problems during Google sign-in.

I have two Google accounts, A & B, and I use either one to register on most websites.

After migrating to Firefox, I'm facing a problem whenever I try logging into a site using my Google ID.

Here's what happens:

1. I click on the "Login with Google" button. 2. Since I have already signed in to Google using both accounts, I see both A and B in the Account Picker page. 3. I choose A. 4. The page changes to a loading screen, where I get a "One moment please..." message.

After this, the loading circle keeps rotating, but nothing happens.

I think it has something to do with content blocking, but since I'm quite new to Firefox, I'm not sure how to fix this.

I'd really appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance!

I have been using firefox for years and am very happy with it. I have a Dell optiplex 7010 desktop. I am running Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS. I do not have a firewall turned on. Apparently, my desktop browser was updated to Firefox 78.0.1 (64-bit) on 7-1-2020. Since that time, I have been unable to access any websites from Firefox including mozilla.org. I am connected through WiFi. After downloading the Opera browser I have been able to access any website with no problems. I read community troubleshooting on this issue and tried various fixes including turning off IPv6. I read the community article about turning off my personal firewall. I was unaware of using any firewall so I installed Gufw Firewall 18.04.0. Running this program shows my firewall status is "OFF". I checked my AT&T modem and could not find any firewall settings that specifically mentioned Firefox. I would like to continue using Firefox since I use it on my phone and laptop also use it.

My laptop is a Dell Vostro 1520 running Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS 64 bit. It also accesses the internet through the same WiFi. It currently has no problems loading web sites with Firefox version 78.0.1

Please help.

Current situation: My Firefox brower search default is Google. But it has settled into a pattern of being is hijacked to a site named primeinfospot.com. Initially, the search redirection was to several different sites, but now it is just one site. This might be a result of my attempts to remove the hijacker. Chrome and Safari browsers are not hijacked.

Cause: Attempting to get a better corded connection between my Galaxy and MacBook, I downloaded a file named Android.zip from http://d-h.st/nl5l#!/ This included an install of ADB and Fastbooks. This led to an attempted auto-download of Flash, which I rejected. My browser search then was hijacked first to a number of different sites: readysoft, ikolag, ncontentdelivery, everydayconsumers, primeinfospot, search-switch.

Attempts to remove: Looked through plug-ins and extensions in Firefox, but couldn't find anything that looked like the hijacker. Uninstalled/reinstalled Firefox. Scanned with Malwarebytes (report= clear), Went to Mac hard drive > Applications > Library and uninstalled any files installed on Ocotber 24th (when the problem started).

I have two Windows 10 PC with Firefox.

Since several weeks in forms like gmail compose or facebook messenger or hotmail both sujbect and message, I cannot type the letter q in lowercase.

Fine typing Q but no q

I tried to find any solution to this but no results. I found a similar topic here with letter Q instead. I followed the steps but no luck as well. (Cannot type letter Q (weird bug!))

The issue is simple, typing q doesn't type anything. I can paste the Q from clipboard and works fine (this how I survived)

I have Spanish (Mexico) language and Latin American keyboard by default. Tried with the standard English (US) and US international keyboard with the same behavior .

Any help is appreciated.

Updates – Last updated 14:35 PST May 14, 2019. We expect this to be our final update.

  • If you are running Firefox versions 61 – 65 and 1) did not receive the deployed fix and 2) do not want to update to the current version (which includes the permanent fix): Install This Extension to resolve the expired security certificate issue and re-enable extensions and themes.
  • If you are running Firefox versions 57 – 60: Install This Extension to resolve the expired security certificate issue and re-enable extensions and themes.
  • If you are running Firefox versions 47 – 56: install This Extension to resolve the expired security certificate issue and re-enable extensions and themes.

Updates – Last Updated: 17:04 EDT May 9, 2019

A less technical blog post about the outage is also available. If you enabled telemetry to get the initial fix, we’re deleting all data collected since May 4. (May 9, 17:04 EDT)

Mozilla CTO Eric Rescorla posted a blog on the technical details of what went wrong last weekend.

Updates – Last Updated: 19:28 EDT May 8 2019

We’ve released Firefox 66.0.5 for Desktop and Android, and Firefox ESR 60.6.3, which include the permanent fix for re-enabling add-ons that were disabled starting on May 3rd. The initial, temporary fix that was deployed May 4th through the Studies system is replaced by these updates, and we recommend updating as soon as possible. Users who enabled Studies to receive the temporary fix, and have updated to the permanent fix, can now disable Studies if they desire.

For users who cannot update to the latest version of Firefox or Firefox ESR, we plan to distribute an update that automatically applies the fix to versions 52 through 60. This fix will also be available as a user-installable extension. For anyone still experiencing issues in versions 61 through 65, we plan to distribute a fix through a user-installable extension. These extensions will not require users to enable Studies, and we’ll provide an update when they are available.

"Updates – Last Updated: 11:51 EDT May 8 2019 (From Mozilla Blog)

Firefox 66.0.5 has been released, and we recommend that people update to that version if they continue to experience problems with extensions being disabled. You’ll get an update notification within 24 hours, or you can initiate an update manually.
An update to ESR 60.6.3 is also available as of May 8th. We’re continuing to work on a fix for older versions of Firefox, and will update this post and on social media as we have more information."

A Firefox release has been pushed — version 66.0.4 on Desktop and Android, and version 60.6.2 for ESR. This release repairs the certificate chain to re-enable web extensions, themes, search engines, and language packs that had been disabled (Bug 1549061).

There are remaining issues that we are actively working to resolve, but we wanted to get this fix out before Monday to lessen the impact of disabled add-ons before the start of the week. More information about the remaining issues can be found by clicking on the links to the release notes above. (May 5, 16:25 EDT)

"Last Updated: 00:54 EDT May 5 2019

Updates:

Some users are reporting that they do not have the “hotfix-update-xpi-signing-intermediate-bug-1548973” study active in “about:studies”.

Rather than using work-arounds, which can lead to issues later on, we strongly recommend that you continue to wait. If it’s possible for you to receive the hotfix, you should get it by 6am EDT, 24 hours after it was first released.

For everyone else, we are working to ship a more permanent solution. (May 5, 00:54 EDT)

There are a number of work-arounds being discussed in the community. These are not recommended as they may conflict with fixes we are deploying. We’ll let you know when further updates are available that we recommend, and appreciate your patience. (May 4, 15:01 EDT)"

Hi all,

I hope you are well. I'm facing some weird problems with Firefox after upgrading to the latest version. One of these is that the IBM Rapport add-on keeps getting added to Firefox automatically every time I restart my computer. I remove it each time, but next morning there it is again.

I no longer need the add-on since my bank has changed the online banking methodology (which the add-on was used for), but it refuses to stay away!

I have run 3 full virus checks, and nothing came up.

I have made a new profile, but this didn't help.

Can anyone please advise how I can remove this add-on permanently?

Thank you very much for your help.

Michael.
