The same thing happens on my two Dell laptops (Inspiron and Latitude), and a Hyper-V VM (on my desktop PC). They all run Bazzite Linux 6.17.7-ba25.fc43.x86_64.

A video may play for a second or two, and then it's either a black screen, or an error message of "The content doesn't seem to be working."

On the same two laptops and VM, the Chromium Browser, and LibreWolf (a fork of Firefox?), have no issues playing the same videos.

Firefox version on all three systems is 147.0.3.

Any help/guidance welcome with thanks.

I recently refreshed my FF installation. Before I did that I had configured my tab settings to always display the x icon (close tab) in all active tabs. After the refresh, the x icon is gone for all tabs.

I cannot remember what I did to get them to display originally. I've tried to do this in the userchrome.css file. But it didn't work. Let me know if you have a solution.

I am unable to download a bank statement pdf from my online banking, using Firefox. I AM able to downoad it using Google Chrome. I am able download OTHER pdfs on Firefox - just not my bank statements! I HAVE been able to download bank statements successfully in the past, using Firefox, but now am unable to. When I try to download statement from the bank website, firstly I get a black screen with small message saying "No preview available", and an invitation to download. On clicking Download, I'm taken to a white page saying "Error No API key found in request. request_id: a2ad87061f2bed614b1d53708d35cb26", but no further options. I've exchanged messages with my bank, who've found no solution, and advised me to look into it with you guys - ie, Firefox browsing. I've played around with Firefox settings, cookies, security settings, etc, but all to no avail.

Any clues how I can resolve this?

I am using Firefox 149.0 (64-bit) with Yahoo.Com as my home page. All of a sudden, when I use the search bar at the top of the Yahoo Home Page, Firefox opens up a blank tab in response. Doesn't matter what I search for, same thing happens. Then, if I close that blank/empty tab and reattempt the same exact search again, it works fine.

This has been happening only for the past few days - was fine before. Is this Firefox? Or is this Yahoo? And how can I resolve the issue?

Thanks in advance.

I am using Firefox 149.02 (64-bit).

I access the website The Daily Beast (https://www.thedailybeast.com) and like to make Comments on some of their articles. Up until about 2 months ago everything was running smoothly. But now I am unable to use the Comment section. I get the following response from The Daily Beast...

"Oops, something went wrong :( We detected some connectivity issues therefore we’re unable to load the Conversation."

I do not have this problem when using either the Norton Private Browser or the DuckDuckGo Browser.

What's wrong?

As of today, every single time I try to download something, Firefox instantly cancels it and I'm not sure what the issue is. I've disabled adblock and Malwarebytes and refresh Firefox—same issue. Hitting retry from the download panel works but I can't figure out why the first download attempt is always cancelling, even if it's the same file. I'm not even downloading big files.

I've got an Angular project running locally on my machine (https://localhost:4300 using NodeJS 24.11.1 and Angular 20.3.0) and I can't get it to consistently load files for me when I refresh the page.

The network call shows the response coming back, but I'm getting a red ban icon in the Status column instead of 200. Sometimes it's styles.css and nothing looks right. Sometimes it's polyfills.js and I get an error in the console about "In this configuration Angular requires Zone.js". Sometimes, it's one or many chunk-*.js files. Sometimes, it goes back and forth about which it doesn't want to load. And then sometimes, everything is fine. When it fails, it takes between 1 and 20-some-odd refreshes of the page to get it to load properly. The passage of time doesn't seem to make a difference, as sometimes I can recompile the project and jump right into Firefox and it loads fine. Other times, it will only load after I've refreshed multiple times. If it's a JS file that fails, I also see a warning in the console window about "Loading failed for the script with source [filename]".

I've added an exception for the SSL certificate. CTRL+F5 doesn't make a difference in the behavior. The only extensions I have running are LastPass and Bitwarden. The only plugins I have in place are "OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc." and "Widevine Content Decryption Module provided by Google Inc." I've disabled Enhanced Tracking Protection for the site. I've rebooted and restarted everything.

Any ideas what might cause this? The other developers on the team don't have this issue. I'm using "ng serve --host 0.0.0.0 --ssl xxx-app-name-xxx --live-reload false" to run my environment. What should I be looking for on my machine that might cause this type of intermittent failure?

YouTube is playing 4K videos like they are in slow motion. If I lower the quality they work fine, but switch back to 4K and it's slow motion stutter-fest again. I have seen several topics about this but it's still happening to me despite all of the "fixes" I've tried. This is a list of everything that I've seen and tried, and not a single one or any combination of them fixes the problem for me.

In about:config I tried changed the following to False: gfx.webrender.layer-compositor media.av1.enabled media.wmf.dxva.d3d11.enabled

Tried uninstalling all extensions.

Tried a complete uninstall and reinstall of 149.0.2 with a fresh profile instead of updating from 148.0.2.

Tried installing uBlock Origin and used the following rule: ||www.youtube.com/web-reports$xhr

Tried unchecking the uBlock "Quick Fixes" filter.

Tried disabling hardware acceleration.

Tried disabling DNS Over HTTPS.

All that said... what DID fix it was reverting back to Firefox 148.0.2. I tried again to update from that to 149.0.2 using the FF built in updater but the same issue immediately came back. Zero issues at all playing 4K YouTube videos on FF 148.0.2 or the latest versions of Chrome and Edge. Issue is ONLY on FF 149 and 149.0.2.

Suddenly—with no changes made in Firefox, no power failures, no anomalous occurrences, and with the latest version of Facebook—Facebook would not display reels when clicked on.

What came up was at first a briefly (maybe a second) displayed image, but rather than remaining, the image disappeared, leaving an all-black screen except for the usual icons normally there: in the upper left, the "X" for closing the window and the Facebook logo; in the upper right, the Facebook menu, messenger, notifications, and account icons; at the middle right, the up and down circled arrows (which function but which lead to more displays of only black as well); and lower-right center, with the vertical display of the thumbs-up emoji, comment, share, the three-dots more options icons.

Firefox 149.0.2 is installed on a Windows 11 computer less than a year old (which has displayed no anomalous or unusual behavior at all).

Clearing the Firefox cache and restarting Firefox have done no good. What is wrong here?

Thank you.

Template literal not resolving as expected

I have a directory structure C: Gustafson Website ⋮ scripts global.js ⋮ ⋮ TestDirector… (funda kabanzi)

I have a directory structure

C:

   Gustafson
       Website
           ⋮
           scripts
               global.js
               ⋮
           ⋮
           TestDirectory
               baseUrl_test.html
           ⋮

In the <head> of a webpage, I determine a baseUrl for the page using the following:

 <script>
   // assumes website topmost directory is "Website""
   ( async ( ) => {
     const segments = document.documentURI.split ( "/");
     const index = segments.findIndex ( element =>
                                        element == "Website" );
     if ( index < 0 )
       {
       throw new TypeError (
                 "Website structure not constructed correctly" );
       }
     segments.length = index + 1;
     let path = segments.join ( "/" );
     path += "/";
     window.baseUrl = path;
     console.log(`${baseUrl}`);
     } ) ( );
 </script>

The console log displays

file:///C:/Gustafson/Website/

In the body is

 <script>
   console.log ( `${baseUrl}scripts/global.js` );
 </script>
 <script src=`${baseUrl}scripts/global.js`></script>
 <script>
 window.onload =
   function ( )
     {
     Global.initialize_globals ( );
     };
 </script>

The console log displays

file:///C:/Gustafson/Website/scripts/global.js Loading failed for the <script> with source “file:///C:/Gustafson/Website/TestDirectory/%60$%7BbaseUrl%7Dscripts/global.js%60”. Uncaught ReferenceError: Global is not defined

   onload file:///C:/Gustafson/Website/TestDirectory/baseUrl_test.html:37
   EventHandlerNonNull* file:///C:/Gustafson/Website/TestDirectory/baseUrl_test.html:34

The problem is the console.log displays what is expected but the src= is using something totally different.
