been having issues with files lately. i can dl a file and open the folder. if i try to open the file from the browser or the folder directly, the browser window will freeze. additional browser windows are still functional. how do i fix this? no files will open even in safe mode.

Using Windows 10, an Nvidia GTX 1080, and a Panasonic VSX-40 receiver, connected by HDMI.

I recently got a new stereo receiver and have been seeing problems with the HDMI connection. The the image becomes discolored and green at times and stays that way until the receiver is restarted or the input is switched off HDMI and back.

After extensive troubleshooting (replacing cables, updating drivers, testing to reproduce the problem) I have determined that Firefox is the issue.

Playing a youtube video or a twitch stream has a small chance of causing the error. Mousing over a tab with a video in it causes the error almost 100% of the time. The same videos and streams do not cause these problems in Google Chrome.

I have disabled hardware acceleration in Firefox settings and that has solved the issue, but now I have the problem that Firefox is not using hardware acceleration. It scrolls poorly and generally sucks to use this way.

Is there a way to change the way Firefox displays these videos without disabling hardware acceleration completely? Chrome renders them without causing issues, and I've been unable to trigger this error in any way outside of Firefox.

When navigating through video websites, the browser often becomes unresponsive and refreshes the interface. When accessing other websites, the browser tabs frequently experience crashes.

Details regarding the operating system, laptop model, and browser version are provided below, and the screenshot of unresponsive website has been attached with this, um email or message.

Hello all.

I chose "Use Adobe Acrobat Reader" for open PDF in settings and it works fine until I closed Firefox and open it again. The setting bounce to "Open in Firefox". Then, I tried choosing "Always Ask", closing Firefox and opening Firefox again. The setting preserved as "Always Ask" and did not bounce to "Open in Firefox".

I checked handler.json in user profile folder after I chose "Use Adobe Acrobat Reader" for PDF, action is 4: {"defaultHandlersVersion":{},"mimeTypes":{"application/pdf":{"action":4,"extensions":["pdf"],"handlers":[{"name":"AcroRd32.exe","path":"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Adobe\\Acrobat Reader DC\\Reader\\AcroRd32.exe"}]}},"schemes":{}}

But then after restarting Firefox, it changed to 3: {"defaultHandlersVersion":{},"mimeTypes":{"application/pdf":{"action":3,"extensions":["pdf"],"handlers":[{"name":"AcroRd32.exe","path":"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Adobe\\Acrobat Reader DC\\Reader\\AcroRd32.exe"}]}},"schemes":{}}

Checked handler.json with "Always ask". Before and after restarting Firefox, action is 1, which is expected and correct.

Some other colleagues reported the same issues as well. I am thinking if this is a bug from Firefox.

Some more notes here:

• The issue only happens to PDF, for other Content types, all good.
• Already disabled all plug-ins and extensions.
• Tried refreshing Firefox in safe mode
• Tried choosing another external PDF reader Foxit
• Firefox version is 140.0.2

When I download Firefox initially I am able to set the home page the way I want with the shortcuts I use. After a few weeks the shortcuts disappear and the only way to get them back is to delete Firefox and reinstall. I am also not able to save bookmarks anymore. This has the same resolution methods.

This has happened 3 times already.

I keep getting a message that Firefox is running but it’s not in my task manager.

I can’t uninstall it without closing it but I can’t close it while it’s running.

I've powered off and on and I've done everything I read online to do but keep going in circles.

Hello, I have a question and don't know how to fix it. Is there any ways to have similiar shortcuts in home page in my all devices, because by syncing it doesn't help. Unfortunately I don't want to add all shortcuts manually.

where can I set my default location in Firefox? Windows 10 (desktop) has removed Maps so the computer's default location cannot be determined, and now Google Maps in Firefox has the wrong location for this computer

When opening Firefox, the screen turns white before page opens! There is a version that was updated for this issue however,at that time I did not have this issue! After downloading the newer version, I now have this white light issue! I like to mention, my computer never crashed! I believe (134.0.3), was the update that was a fix for the White Screen problem. And, I am using ver-139.0.4 (64 bit) (win. 10-64 bit) I appreciate any help with this issue! Thank you!!! geo (7/6/2025)

Hi,

I am in the process of migrating away from Chrome, and I am considering Firefox as my new daily browser. In Chrome, I was able to get surround sound playback through my major streaming services (e.g., YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, Spotify, etc.). As I recall, there wasn't anything specific I needed to do in Chrome to enable this. As long as I was listening through my 7.1 surround sound headset, it seemed to work. In Firefox, it seems that audio from all the listed streaming services plays in stereo mode. Is there a way I can get surround sound to work on this browser? I couldn't find any audio related settings or documentation about this issue.

I'm getting quite irate because since Firefox asked to update and restart this morning all my Amazon orders don't happen and the passwords don't work? I've always just ordered on Amazon very easily as I've been on here for many, many years!? Now Amazon keeps asking for a sign in password which I never have to do and it won't accept anything I sign in with? Its all because of Firefox's update this morning? They told me they were having difficulties and its never got put right?

Please do something about it I'm elderly and its hot and I can't keep being asked for passwords which it refuses to accept now? Please put this right?

Я попробовал множество вариантов(какие то были описаны на сайте twitch, какие то предложены технической поддержкой twitch). Вот некоторые из них: 1) Убедитесь, что используйте последнюю версию браузера. 2) Отключите все расширения. Особенно это касается расширений для разработчиков или схожих типов расширений. 3) Очистите кэш и файлы cookie. 4) Перезапустите свой браузер и повторите попытку. 5) также я пробовал запустить с включеным vpn и без него Ниже представлены предложения от тех. поддержки twitch:

  1) As a first step, make sure you're using a supported, up to date browser. The Twitch.tv site is currently developed for the latest versions of the most popular browsers, you can find a specific list here: https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/supported-browsers
  2) Replicate this issue in an incognito window/private browsing mode while your browser extensions are disabled. 
  3) Log out of VPNs or similar software which might reroute requests through an IP address other than your own (how to do this will depend on whatever software you're using).
   4) Avast Antivirus, AVG Anti-Track, and similar software may also affect your connection - make sure to add Twitch as a trusted website or disable it temporarily to see if that resolves it.
   5) Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies (you’ll need to log into your account again). You can find instructions on how to do this depending on your browser here: https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/supported-browsers

1) I use a supported browser (Firefox latest version) 2) I tried to log in incognito mode and nothing worked either (no extensions installed) 3) I tried to log in to my account with and without VPN 4) I don't have any antiviruses 5) I tried to clear browser data and that didn't help either (running in incognito mode does the same thing)

In FF, in the password utility, the entries are sorted by domain. That establishes that a domain sort is possible.

However, every export utility I have encountered, if it sorts at all, sorts by line.

One use I make of a printed copy is as a maintenance markup document. Some of my accounts - eg mozilla.org - have multiple access addresses in the same domain. A line sort scatters them, and I need to somehow collect them.

Would it be a big effort to output sorted by domain?
