I'm using Firefox (77.0.1) as my default and primary web browser on Windows 10 Version 1909 KB4497165.

Every time Firefox runs an automatic update, the pinned shortcut in my taskbar becomes a blank page icon. It is also unusable, saying the application has been moved or deleted. This has happened many times (with every update over the last few years). Clearing the icon cache does nothing to prevent this from happening in the future.

It is not difficult to restore the taskbar icon. The blank page icon must be deleted, and then I must navigate to the location of the Mozilla Firefox folder under Program Files (x86). There I can find the firefox.exe file and pin a new shortcut to the taskbar. Everything will then work fine until the next Firefox update.

Is there something about the update process that recreates the firefox.exe file making it break the pinned taskbar icon? Does anyone else share this repeated problem? I have no idea if there's a way to change the update process so it does not happen, but I appreciate any information.

Thank you.

I use a lot of pinned tabs.

For the most part it works fine, but every now and then I keep shooting myself in the foot. It happens when I need to open a tab in a new window (for example if I need two tabs side-by-side). The pinned tabs stay with the "main" window, which is fine. However, if I now accidentally close the main window before the "secondary" window, Firefox restores the "secondary" window on the next start and all my pinned tabs are gone. I have them all bookmarked, but I'm wondering if there is an easier way to get them back? Note: I've tried the extension "Startup Apps", which sounded like it's doing what I'm asking. However, I found it kept creating duplicates of some pinned tabs, which I don't like.

FF 75, but this has been the same for a couple of versions. I have Feedly as a pinned tab. When I choose to log into it, then choose log in using Google, the Google login page launches in a new tab instead of the current, pinned one. After logging in successfully it's not even possible to refresh the pinned tab to be logged into it; I have to pin the new tab and close the original.

This doesn't happen if logging into Feedly through Safari or Chrome.

I want to have 4 windows open when I open firefox. I want to have these 4 windows pinned. When I clear my cache/history, for some reason, my tabbed windows go away and are forgotten.

Is there an option where, when you select the pages you want to open when Firefox opens, that you can say open them as pinned windows? And that it would be smart enough to know those pinned windows are opened, and not open copies of those pinned windows in their non-pinned form?

It's really annoying when I use the "Delete the last two hours of my history" feature, and it deletes my pinned windows.

There are several pinned tabs when I open my Firefox.

The problem is when there is no Internet connection, these tabs are displayed as requiring network connection. However when the network is connected, these tabs are not automatically updated - they still displayed as requiring network connection. I have to refresh each one of them.

Is that my configuration has problem, or the automatically refresh tab function is missing?

Thanks wxie

I have RA with fine motor control problems.

At times I have difficulty in getting the cursor on the pinned tabs. I don't have problems seeing so don't need to zoom in to make everything larger, I just need wider pinned tabs.

I use FF 63.0.1 on my Win10 laptop and need to make the pinned tabs wider for ease of use.

I found information about making unpinned tabs wider in about:config but can't find anything for the pinned tabs.

Thank you for your time.
