A while back, I discovered a Google plugin hidden within Firefox. I figured maybe one thing was fine until I realized that Widevine actually did some bad stuff to your OS, since it needs to access the internal OS to block screenshots and screen recordings. Today, I discovered that geolocation also uses Google servers, and in the process of turning it off I also discovered that there is this "Safe Browsing" that also uses Google. Looking even further, even some of the privacy things redirect to Google. I haven't even mentioned that the default search engine is Google. Even if Google paid you to make them the default, you could create a prompt on the first launch asking for search engine, with Google selected by default but another search engine (like DDG) recommended. All of this Google software is likely sucking on our data.

Now while writing this post, I noticed something even worse. Why are Google servers on the filter whitelists? This is uncool. I understand, maybe your website needs to detect Firefox to function correctly, and antifingerprint would break it. But WHY GOOGLE? All of this seems to be going against the goal of privacy. How are you supposed to expect a random person to go directly to about:add-ons, disable Google Widevine, go to about:preferences, disable safe browsing, go to about:config, enter the "danger" zone confidently, and delete Google from the 10,000 times it appears in the config?

It's so frustrating that the keyboard shortcut for closing tabs is right beside the one to quit Firefox. I've lost countless hours because of this, and it's so easy to accidentally do. Is there a way to keep this from happening? A simple "Are you sure" confirmation dialog would be great, or I really like the Chrome "hold command-Q" to exit feature. This seemingly simple function is proving extremely difficult to accomplish.

Yes, I'm aware of session restore, but (1) It does not preserve my window arrangement. I use multiple desktops for various tasks, and they each have related browser windows. (2) I need to see webpages exactly as they were when I opened them. Sessions expire, dynamic pages are refreshed, content is removed etc. That is all lost.

I do not want to disable session restore completely. It can still be useful. But, I do not want to trigger session restore automatically every time. Manual activation is ideal.

regarding: "browser.tabs.warnOnClose" I do not want a warning for closing multiple tabs. I often have many windows open and that warning gets annoying. It also doesn't prevent me from accidentally quitting when I only have one tab open.

I tried setting browser.warnOnQuit to true, but it's ignored.

I simply want a confirmation when I use the keyboard shortcut to QUIT. That's it. No side effects. Can Firefox do this?

I have a basic html index page being served by Ubuntu/Apache at `https://localhost/test.html`. I have `browser.enabled.ssb` set to `true` in about config.

When I open a regular browser window (Firefox 78.0.2) I can navigate to, and load `https://localhost/test.html` no problem but when I run `firefox --profile /home/ubuntu/.mozilla/firefox/a5pwja44.default-release --ssb https://localhost/test.html` I get a connection error. (This is the same profile I'm using when I open a new browser window).

Anybody know why this doesn't work or how to fix?

I've used Firefox to access my website for years. Suddenly this morning, it won't load after I've signed in. Before logging in, everything looks normal. After logging in, the home page does not load completely and I cannot navigate through the site. I tried on Safari and everything works normally.

I've cleared the cookies and cache, re-started Firefox, even re-started the computer. No luck. The website host thinks it's a firefox issue.

My Firefox version is current (78.1.0esr (64-bit)). I'm on Mac OS 10.11.

I have two issues that seem to be related. I have a Mac (Catalina 10.15.6) and I use the Firefox browser. I've adjusted my preferences and selected Google as my Default Search Engine. My issue is that when I "Quit" Firefox and open it again my Default Search Engine gets changed to the Browser Default (which seems to be Yahoo but isn't listed as that). I then have to go back to my preferences and change the setting. I've tried Removing all the Search Engines in the One-Click Search Engine list except for Google but when my settings get changed, the Browser Default search engine pops back up in that list. My related issue is that I'll be in the middle of doing things in the Firefox Browser when it will suddenly close. I don't get a warning nor a crash report. It's just suddenly closed as if I "Quit" my browser. When this happens, my Search Engine settings change as well.

To fix this issue I've tried changing settings, tried uninstalling/deleting the Firefox application and reinstalling it from the Firefox website using a different browser. None of these attempts fix these issues. I'm getting quite frustrated with this glitch. I'm a relatively new Mac user so am not as familiar with how to troubleshoot things as deeply as I do in the PC world. I didn't have these issues with Firefox on other OS's (Ubuntu & Windows). Is there a fix that doesn't involve me installing any other external apps?

Firefox on MacOS Catalina fails to save/restore tabs, whether pinned or otherwise, after shutdown.

I have extensions: Bitwarden DuckDuckGo Privacy Amazon smile sponsor redirect Amazon Unsponsored YouTube Sponsor block

Tried it with and without these running and FF fails to save my tabs, regardless of shutting down the browser or the OS. This does not occur on Win10 or my Linux distros. I've been trawling forums and help pages and the Interweb casually for weeks now, without success, but getting quite frustrated now; so posting this as a last resort. Thanks in advance of any suggestions.

Okay, so, quick question - I just got a new computer and installed the entire OS (MacOS) directly from my physical backup on . However, Firefox is working quite poorly. It's not loading sites properly, e.g. Facebook, and it won't load pictures on a Danish sales platform - and quite a few other places - most importantly it won't load Tinder profiles to swipe in desktop version. Damn it all to hell!

Also, several of the tabs have a weird, white line under them, and it started blinking with this weird red line in the very top of the browser.

However, if I were to reinstall Firefox altogether, would that delete all my open tabs (of which I have a couple of hundreds)? As per advice from a few geeks, I cleared my entire history to see if it made a difference - alas, the problems continued and multiplied.

If reinstalling and/or refreshing the browser will delete all my tabs - what are my options?
