Hello Support,

some day ago I tried to download a .zip file which was instantly blocked by firefox and my antivirus program. So this was obviously some bad shit. I didn´t even try to open it or whatever and I directy deleted the file completely and cleared my firefox browser history and cookies, website data and cache. My settings also clear everything when I close firefox.

So the problem is, that every time I open firefox, still the note pops up that the download of this file, which "contains a virus or malware" was blocked (see screenshot). And every time I click "clear browser history". But the next time same again. The file is also not in the download folder or somewhere else so idk...

How can I stop this and be sure that this file (which somehow does not exist on my computer) doesn´t try to do any strange stuff?

I've run the complete scan of my antivirus (bitdefender pay version) a couple of times, no results.

Can anyone help me plz?

I am using Linux Mint for about 4 years. Recently upgraded from Linux Mint 19.3 to 20.1which came with what I believe was Firefox 85. Worked fine. Problems started when I received the update to Firefox 86 Firefox 86 keeps on crashing upon startup Removed and reinstalled Firefox but the issue remains. Updated Firefox, updated Linux. Started Firefox in safe mode and it crashes.

It's probably a simple one line of code solution, but I don't find the answer or how to do it.

I started yesterday writing add-on code for Firefox using javascript. I'll try to explain what I want to accomplish here.

There is a feature with the browser where we can drag and drop the website URL to the desktop to create a shortcut file that will open the website at the URL address. This works fine, but it can be tiring manual work.

I'm trying to accomplish the same result, but with code so that when I download a file with the add-on its URL shortcut is also automatically saved.

I searched enough to see at least one other add-on that seem to be able to save a URL as file, but there's a few problem. One is that the file does not contain the thumbnail like the original URL created from the browser itself. Another is that the file size takes 10 to 100 times more storage space. Lastly, when I open it Windows display a warning message that needs to be answered to continue. That extra step gives a bad experience. I admit that I haven't looked at the code yet, but I suspect that it won't do the result that I want even if I understand how it works which I'll take a chance to do.

Overall, I would say that I found nothing like the default drag and drop option.

I'm afraid that if I ask if is there such feature the answer will be negative.

According to Mozilla help there should be an option to import from file https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-login-data-file

I only see import from browser.

It is my understanding that in Private browsing mode, tabs aren't isolated from each other and all tabs share the same (in memory) cookie jar and thus, for instance, existing third-party cookies are possibly sent in the same private session.

Why multi-account-containers addon is not avaliable in PB when it can be beneficial?

I'm not that tech savy. all I want to do is add print preview back to drop down menu, complete with sizing options, etc. many are unhappy it's gone as a default. can you tell me how to, simply, assume I'm an idiot, how to restore it?

Firefox 86 has introduced a new print preview panel which I like. What I don't like though is that the unit for print margins has changed from millimeter to inch (see screenshot, in German). In previous versions, it was possible to set the unit in the prefs by changing "print.printer_PostScript/default.print_paper_size_unit". Value 0 meant imperial units, value 1 meant metric units. This entry does no longer exist.

There is still the entry "print.printer_printername.print_paper_size_unit" for every printer that's installed. Those values are all set to 1 in my case but this doesn't seem to have any effect.

So how can I set the margins of printed pages in millimeters instead of inches?

Curiously and annoyingly icloud.com demands two-factor authentication every time when my Firefox is restarted, or even without restart, if long enough time has elapsed. Why is that and is there some way to let Firefox be continuously trusted by that website too?

I'm on Windows and Chrome and Edge do not have this problem. Interestingly Firefox on Mac does not seem to have it either. Could this be caused by our corporate security settings somehow?

Hi, I'm trying to find out what's causing this behavior. My firefox sometimes, specifically when opening a second tab (doesn't happen on a third, fourth, fifth, etc. tab) and pressing F (like starting to type Facebook), makes my entire screen to fade to black for 1 second, and then comes back. If I do type facebook, it shows "acebook", ignoring the F entirely. It doesn't seem like a crash, it seems a lot like a functionality of sorts that's acting up, because it doesn't go black just like that, it fades. And it always takes the same amount of time with that fade.

What's worse, it doesn't always happen. If it happens once I can replicate it and keep doing it, but as I use the browser and it stops doing it, I can't do it again. Until, well, it does.

This is the weirdest thing. How does firefox control my entire screen like that? What's it doing? What instruction on my keyboard is F sending to firefox?

I haven't found anything like this happening to anyone online.

Hello, Is there a way to use a different theme on one machine (light) and use the dark theme on a different computer but still be able to sync the data?

I have tried this from a previous question https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1242818

Set services.sync.prefs.sync.lightweightThemes to False, but this does not work.

Did it on both macOS machines, closed and restarted the browser, and changing the theme on one browser ends up changing the theme on the other machine.

Is there any way to have to separate themes on two different machines?

So I was on a theme spree trying to find something that fit my tastes better before deciding I would opt for the custom CSS Firefox route, however, I added Dolan's Dynamic theme (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/dolans-dynamic-theme/) and when I tried testing it on other sites I came to realize it was not actually dynamic and decided to use a different theme. However, even after a complete browser refresh/clean-up, as well as a fresh installation of Firefox, my browser still reverts to the light / dynamic theme when I click out of the Add-Ons page. I will disable and remove all added themes and select the default and it will take effect on my browser, however when I ctrl+t or click new tab my browser reverts back to the light / dynamic theme.

Really upsetting seeing as I can't stand light themes and I prefer using Firefox for my web development work however now Firefox is sidelined for Chrome (which I cannot stand using). Any and all help or input will be appreciated and if I can provide anything else to help I will gladly do so.

Whenever I open an Instagram profile or anything on that site the Back button will be greyed out as if the current (instagram) site was the first site that I visited in the current window or tab. No matter how many navigation moves and page/site changes I made previously in the same window/tab, it all just vanishes and I can't go back!

When I visit "elofootball.com" with Firefox, "Atlético" is shown as "Atl�tico". When the page is not yet completely loaded Atlético is shown correctly for a brief moment (first screenshot without country flags). After the flags are displayed "Atlético" becomes "Atl�tico" (second screenshot with country flags). So it doesn't seem like the characters themselves aren't supported by the browser because Firefox can display them, just not once the flags are displayed as well.

Edge and Chrome do not have this problem, they just show the page like you'd expect without the � in the place of characters with accents. Any idea what might be causing this and can it be fixed?

Every time I download anything a status bar showing the item I downloaded as a tab appears at the bottom of the screen. I cannot find any option to disable that so that it ceases to appear. It is a rather recent addition to Firefox so I'm guessing there's a hidden option somewhere that will allow me to achieve my goal.

Any suggestions, please?
