I'm suddenly having a problem where images don't save as .jpg unless I add that myself. At first, it wanted to save images as WebP, but I was able to fix that in the about:config. Now when I go to save an image, it wants to save as Chrome HTML document and I have to click all files and then add .jpg.

This setting, "Always ask you where to save files," is definitely broken.

In a related article, they provided this solution: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/que.../1534384 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1534384]

Proposed solution: "I believe you also need to go into Tools -> Settings -> General and set the Action for the types of downloads (Applications) to Always Ask for those types you want it to."

But this workaround should not be needed. "Always ask" means always ask. As in always. No other additional steps should be needed.

Can you folks please open a bug to get this fixed? This used to work just fine in (much) older versions of Firefox and Netscape. "Always ask" is supposed to mean always ask. Like, always.

Hi, I've recently discovered that Firefox replaces the % with underscore while downloading file.

I've read that question: https://support.mozilla.org/fr/questions/1439267 but there is no answer.

Is there a way to prevent that? I use a online tool I've made myself and the % is used as a separator.

Hi. I'd like to know that there is a way to stop download torrent files and just let my torrent client /qbittorrent/ handle it. Even after i set it to open them with qbittorrent Firefox still downloads those files. I mean can delete them manually, but it is quite annoying.

Whether the file is opened internally or directly downloaded to the desktop, the file name will be automatically changed to garbled text。This led to me manually correcting the file name to be correct every time I downloaded, and my installation of the "Download File Name Encoding" plugin was also ineffective.

Hello! See the screenshot please: so, I downloaded à pay-bill, with Firefox (under ubuntu), in private navigation, and I get the file with a padlock-symbol at the end. What means that? What means that for me (on my computer), what means that for à friend, when I sent him the pdt-file (can he open it?). Nota: I understood that I can choose between "delete downloads when closing the privat window" or not. And I choosed not to delete them (but there appears this padlock-symbol). Thanks for your help! O, woe, I feel like Jacob Marley wailing in torment, ha! My correctly-set selection of "Always ask you where to save files" still does not function in 146.0 on Windows 10 after I have gone through every permutation of settings, updates, restarts, etc., I can think of. Why does it always every time only automatically download to the download "Save files to" location (which one MUST set with no option to not set a download location). I have even selected "Ask whether to open or save files" on the "What should Firefox do with other files?" section. I want to be asked each time where to download just like Firefox used to allow and still falsely promises. Am I doing something wrong, or is it a vast Left Wing conspiracy with which Firefox is colluding to oppress people who want choice over their lives like me? :-)

My settings: Downloads: save files to: [custom default folder, unimportant] Always ask you where to save files: ENABLED

Applications: PDFs: Open In Firefox (because when the browser has such a nice built-in pdf viewer of course I would like to use it)

Expected behavior: Browser will open the dialog box for where to save the pdf, save the pdf, then open it in the in-browser viewer from the location it just saved to. Or possibly: save the file to TEMP and then open it in browser, I can see the argument for that behavior, though it wouldn't be my first instinct.

Actual behavior: Browser blindly saves the pdf to the specified default folder, then opens it in the in-browser viewer.

What is the actual point of the ALWAYS ask checkbox here? From what I can find extant on the forums the devs somehow don't seem to consider this a bug, so does anyone know how to wrangle the config page and/or some kind of extension into producing the actual logical behavior for these settings?

One of my jobs requires me to download work related documents on my personal pc. I would like to assign the website of the platform we use to download those files in a specific folder so i could delete them easily afterwards. Are there any plans to add such a feature to the browser? Is there a way to do it already? (without having to use the "always ask" option) Thanks in advance. Cheers from Uruguay
