I have a question regarding PWA support on Firefox desktop. I am not sure how to frame this correctly, but I hope I am able to list the problem statement.

Basically, I plan to migrate my existing mobile and desktop website to single PWA based responsive website. Right now, I have mobile website which is a PWA, and a desktop website. Goal is to have a single PWA based responsive website for both mobile and desktop platform. However, I want to make sure the proposed website will work with Firefox desktop. From what I could find Firefox doesn't support option to install PWA as an app with it's own shortcut as it is possible in Chrome. But I want to make sure it supports rest of the features of PWA, and website still works correctly in terms of UI and experience as in case when it is accessed from Chrome browser.

Appreciate a response on this. In case you require more clarity on the problem statement, do let me know.

I run ecommerce site, which was using standard ‘Positive SSL’ using the following SSLCipherSuite ALL:!ADH:+HIGH:+MEDIUM:+SSLv2:+EXP.

I’ve not had a problem with Firefox users accessing the site, but today, I removed the Positive SSL cert and replaced it with a ‘Positive Wildcard SSL’

The site is fine with other browsers but when testing on Firefox (no other changes made) I get the following error: --- Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection to www.sussexcookers.com. Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s). (Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap) The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified. Please contact the web site owners to inform them of this problem. --- Now I’m obviously the site owner – and I suspect I will be contacted by my users shortly! So I want to address this problem for them. So any help is appreciated!

Now I concluded that – after performing clean install of Firefox on test machine, that the problem is related to SSLCipherSuite, I tried implementing a number of CipherSuites which corrected the problem on test machine, but doesn’t fix the problem for customers who have already visited the site and are returning. The problem is still present on my main development machine and second test machine I use. I’m currently running the following CipherSuite as specified by the Wiki: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Security/Server_Side_TLS ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256:ECDHE-ECDSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256:ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384:ECDHE-ECDSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384:DHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256:DHE-DSS-AES128-GCM-SHA256:kEDH+AESGCM:ECDHE-RSA-AES128-SHA256:ECDHE-ECDSA-AES128-SHA256:ECDHE-RSA-AES128-SHA:ECDHE-ECDSA-AES128-SHA:ECDHE-RSA-AES256-SHA384:ECDHE-ECDSA-AES256-SHA384:ECDHE-RSA-AES256-SHA:ECDHE-ECDSA-AES256-SHA:DHE-RSA-AES128-SHA256:DHE-RSA-AES128-SHA:DHE-DSS-AES128-SHA256:DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA256:DHE-DSS-AES256-SHA:DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA:ECDHE-RSA-DES-CBC3-SHA:ECDHE-ECDSA-DES-CBC3-SHA:AES128-GCM-SHA256:AES256-GCM-SHA384:AES128-SHA256:AES256-SHA256:AES128-SHA:AES256-SHA:AES:CAMELLIA:DES-CBC3-SHA:!aNULL:!eNULL:!EXPORT:!DES:!RC4:!MD5:!PSK:!aECDH:!EDH-DSS-DES-CBC3-SHA:!EDH-RSA-DES-CBC3-SHA:!KRB5-DES-CBC3-SHA

Is this a bug or is there setting I need to change to address this problem. At the moment I fear that anyone who as viewed my site in Firefox prior the certificate change won’t be able to view the site with the new certificate unless they re-install Firefox or rinse the certificate database. Which is not viable steps for my average customer.

Any help or advice would be super appreciated thanks!

I see others noting this problem beginning in March 2015, but no solutions.

Just updated to 39.0, still the problem.

No word wrap within a text posting box on a website, instead the sentence just continues scrolling horizontally.

Apparently Firefox began doing this with 36.0.1.

Was hoping it would be fixed in the newest version, but no.

A search found this post with an illustration of the problem, in case anything is unclear:

http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/help-desk-site-news-site-problems/676425-word-wrap-text-entry-boxes-not.html

How could this not have been fixed between March and July?

How do I get word wrap within a text box?

Thanks.

Dear Mozilla team,

We are a company that develops web systems. The customer’s security service asks us to close all old encryption keys on the server in order to avoid system vulnerabilities and use only new keys. We disabled most of the old keys and the system works fine on all browsers. As soon as we turn off the encryption key TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA (0xc014), then all web systems stop working through the Mozilla Firefox browser. (At the same time, everything works correctly on other browsers). The Mozilla Firefox Documentation says that this browser supports new encryption keys and can work without old encryption keys. Link (https://wiki.mozilla.org/Security/Server_Side_TLS). Also on our server are included all the necessary encryption keys for Mozilla Firefox to work.

Do you have any ideas on how to solve this?

Greetings,

I'm setting a staging server on a VM, and issued a self-signed certificate.

When accessing https://staging.my.site firefox is giving me the following error:

" The owner of staging.my.site has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website.

This site uses HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) to specify that Firefox may only connect to it securely. As a result, it is not possible to add an exception for this certificate. "

Clicking on Advanced shows:

" staging.my.site uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed. Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER "

There is no way to add an exception.

I went into Preferences-Certificates-View Certificates / Servers-Add Exception. Typed "https://staging.my.site", clicked on Get Certificate-Confirm Security Exception. But I got the same message

Restarted FF. Same message. Checked in SecurityPreloadState.txt but cannot see mention of "staging.my.site"

Kindly indicate me how to add an exception for my staging site.

I've been building a website for the last 5 month for myself and it's quite intensive in code, especially with SVG animations and such.

I started coding in December of last year, and was using firefox as my base browser and everything was going smoothly. Until however March 13th when V52 of Firefox was released and my browser updated automatically. The site became extremely sluggish (Still functional) but nothing would animate on time. On average there would be 15-20 seconds delays on functions running.

I've had to switch to Chrome to continue my development of the website, but I am still determined to understand why my site no longer works in Firefox. I downloaded Firefox Version 51.0.1 to make sure the site works, and it runs smooth and as it suppose to.

Is it possible to send a link to one of your team developers to look into this further?

I would appreciate any help I can get.

Hello.

I would like to Install a certificate programmatically on Firefox version 59. I read that i need CertUtil, but the certutil code that i got on github is built from old NSS. so it only generates cert8.db and not Cert9.db, which Firefox 59 needs i assume.

So if i am correct, i need to build NSS 3.35 or higher to have a Certutil right? i went to this site to set the Windows Prerequisite and downloaded the mozilla build. and was able to build it. but it was very long so i cancelled it. I have also installed Visual Studio 2017 community Edition with the C++ compilers.

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Developer_guide/Build_Instructions/Windows_Prerequisites https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Projects/NSS/Building

So i have a working mozilla-build folder and working bash prompt . And i have cloned the nspr and nss into my local folder.

So when i execute the command to build the nss, i get this error. that C compiler not working. And when i check the console.log, this is what i got.

configure:2383: checking build system type configure:2397: result: i686-pc-mingw32 configure:2417: checking host system type configure:2430: result: i686-pc-mingw32 configure:2450: checking target system type configure:2463: result: i686-pc-mingw32 configure:2543: checking for cl configure:2570: result: cl configure:3054: checking for whoami configure:3072: found /c/WINDOWS/System32/whoami configure:3085: result: /c/WINDOWS/System32/whoami configure:3481: checking for C compiler version configure:3490: cl --version >&5 ../configure: line 3492: cl: command not found configure:3501: $? = 127 configure:3490: cl -v >&5 ../configure: line 3492: cl: command not found configure:3501: $? = 127 configure:3490: cl -V >&5 ../configure: line 3492: cl: command not found configure:3501: $? = 127 configure:3490: cl -qversion >&5 ../configure: line 3492: cl: command not found configure:3501: $? = 127 configure:3521: checking whether the C compiler works configure:3543: cl conftest.c >&5 ../configure: line 3545: cl: command not found configure:3547: $? = 127 configure:3585: result: no configure: failed program was: | /* confdefs.h */ | #define PACKAGE_NAME "" | #define PACKAGE_TARNAME "" | #define PACKAGE_VERSION "" | #define PACKAGE_STRING "" | #define PACKAGE_BUGREPORT "" | #define PACKAGE_URL "" | #define DEBUG 1 | /* end confdefs.h. */ | | int | main () | { | |  ; | return 0; | } configure:3590: error: in `/c/mynssbuild/nspr/WIN954.0_DBG.OBJ': configure:3592: error: C compiler cannot create executables See `config.log' for more details

I do not understand why its not able to run the cl compiler. Cause when i ran the developer command prompt for VS 2017, i can execute cl.

I don't know what is causing this error. Is it because bash cannot identify the c Compiler cl? do i have to set additional environment variables?

I hope someone can help me to solve this problem. Or if someone has a precompiled NSS 3.35 with Certutil.exe, that would greatly help.

Thank you very much, Rommel

I am managing a group of network booted Ubuntu 14.04 workstations at a small town (public) library and the current version of Firefox for Ubuntu 14.04 crashes. The machine have all of the file systems NFS mounted. Installing an older version (Firefox 52.6.0 ESR) works however. The new version of Firefox works just fine on the pair library owned laptops, that also run Ubuntu 14.04, but the laptops are self-contained -- they boot off their local disks. Why is this? I have pretty much determined that the only definable issue is that the network booted machines are using NFS for their file systems. No, the workstations are not sharing logins -- each machine auto-logins to a *different* user, each with their own *separate* $HOME directory and they are *not* trying to share firefox configuration trees ($HOME/.mozilla/firefox/...). But all of these directories are NFS mounted. Oh, the server for the /home file system is running CentOS 6.

I am developing a website. I have uploaded the files to my webhost server. When I visit the page I get the following error.

The page isn’t redirecting properly

An error occurred during a connection to www.themindcreative.net.

This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.

Never seen this before, been using this webhost for over a decade and numerous websites. This only started with the new website and after the latest Firefox update. I have a support ticket in with Dreamhost but have not heard back.

Obviuosly I cant just allow all cookies - thats ridiculous. Every other website I visit displays just fine and I have most cookies turned off with the strict/strong tracking protection turned on in Firefox preferences.

Any idea what this 'redirect' error message means? And how to fix it?

Cheers Adam

Very recently (was working perfectly just a few days ago) my videos (stored on YouTube) will not play from the playlist (shockwave flash) which I have used for many years and which is used all over my website with hundreds of videos. Everything still works perfectly with Safari. When I use Firefox, the thumbnail image for each video selected shows up in the display window, but has a horizontal bar with the error message in it (Error #2035) - no more information. All individually-embedded videos from the same source (YouTube) play perfectly. I have made no changes to Firefox and I have made no changes to the flash player.

I refreshed Firefox with no change. Same on all my computers, my website users are calling to complain also. Wesite is http://www.genevalutheran.ch - there are many pages with video playlists on, they all show the error 2035.
