In the past, I've been able to access our SharePoint hosted service without a problem.

Although I've not accessed SharePoint for a while, when I tried today (upgraded to Foxfire 30 in the meantime) I get the error message above.

Am able to access the site via Google Chrome.

SP hoster help desk tells me other Firefox users are having the same problem accessing their own (separate) SP servers.

I've noticed that YouTube only offers three quality options for some videos when viewed on the video's page (240p, 360p, and 720p) even while the offered video elsewhere is significantly higher. One example of this is the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvY5irWC7kA (/u/aygoman of /r/Oman); when viewed in Chrome or when embedded in a page (such as through the RES addon), the video options are more verbose: 240p, 360p, 480p, 720p, 1080p, 2160p.

While I do not typically view above 720p, sometimes I would like the option to view a video in either 1080p or 480p and cannot for some unknown reason.

PROBLEM:

Firefox ignores the presence of the hosts file, never using it to resolve a URL. Even if the name appears in the hosts file and has been entered correctly, Firefox uses it as a search term in the default search engine. Assuming that Firefox developers browse the web, they know about this problem and have willfully and negligently—and perhaps maliciously—ignored it for at least eight years.

SCOPE OF THE PROBLEM:

This is a problem with Firefox, not the local computer. This is Firefox's behavior in OS X and in Windows, thus also in IIS and Apache. It does not happen in Safari. Therefore the problem is Firefox. The operating system, the web server, the entries in the hosts file, and the user's typing skills are not the cause.

WHY THIS IS A PROBLEM:

Anyone using virtual hosting on their local computer for web development cannot test their sites with Firefox. Viewing a web site in the file system causes the links in the site to go to the computer's root, not the site's root. Viewing the web site with the computer's IP address cannot possibly work, because all of the virtual hosts have the same IP address, which is the whole point of virtual hosting.

The only way that virtual hosting can work is if the virtual hosts have different names. Firefox disables this major feature of IIS, Apache, and any other web server that might exist.

Firefox must not disable features of the web server.

RESOLUTION:

Repair Firefox code so that it attempts to resolve the name BOTH on the web and in the hosts file before using the URL as a search term in the default search engine. After all this time, there is no excuse for not fixing it now.

I accidentally had Firefox remember to deny access to let videos go full screen in a particular website. I cannot find where those settings are stored. The accidental selection of having Firefox remember to deny access to let the videos on the page in question to go full screen does seem to be specific to Firefox, since they will go full screen from that page if I use Safari. I tried the solution in the section entitled: "Disable Flash hardware acceleration" on https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/flash-video-wont-play-full-screen which seemed to be the closest to what might be helpful in what I could find by searching Firefox help, but that did not work as I described in my feedback for that page: "I have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player. I went to the page where I cannot get the video to go full screen, but when I hold down "Ctrl" and click on the video I do not see a context menu that includes "Settings" as an option, instead I only see a box that says "About JW Player 6.8.4616 (Premium edition)". I know that I have to change the settings because I accidentally told it to remember to deny access to full screen for videos on this page, but I cannot figure out how to get to the settings and this solution didi not work." If anyone knows how I can go about to get Firefox to once again allow videos to go full screen from this page, I would really appreciate your help. Thanks.

I find the color change in this version 57.0 (64-bit) To a black background with white letters is vary harsh on my eyes. Reversing the colors with the Tab that is open. It is easier to tell which Tab is open. I have a mac-book pro and it's tool bar is black so your browser just blends in and seems like part of the desk top making it a little harder to separate the two and easier to click on a drop down then a tab. This change is harsh on my eyes and more fatiguing, a subtle blend of colors is always easier on the eyes. If the color can't be changed how do I go back to the previous version? Thank you for any assistance. John McLeod

Firefox version 48 (OS X) disabled an add-on of mine that I am developing after Firefox updated. The add-on is unverified. After removing the add-on I am now unable to reinstall it despite xpinstall.signatures.required being set to false in about::config (I've toggled this on and off whilst restarting Firefox).

Although I am not interested in getting Mozilla to verify my personal add-on, now I'm hypothetically unable to work on my add-on to make it verified.

Hello,

While trying to watch "big" mp4 files, I get the error: The media playback was aborted due to a corruption problem or because the media used features your browser did not support.

Smaller files seem to work fine. The problem seem to start around 3-4 GB.

Things I tried:

- Safe mode

- Refresh firefox

- Completely wipe and reinstall, the problem remains.

Since I was due for an OS upgrade, I upgraded to High Sierra. Fresh install (wiped the disk), fresh Firefox install, and the problem remains.

Chrome will load it up after 2-3 seconds. Safari gives the same error.

The file also works in all the players I tried: VLC 1.x, VLC 2.x, VLC 3.x, MPV, MplayerX.

So to recap: Fresh High Sierra install, fresh Firefox install (without sync - no addons), unable to read MP4 files bigger than 3-4 GB.

Help?

On a Mac, tried to come back to firefox after many years but is there no way now to import my passwords from Chrome to Firefox?

On the support pages there are supposed to be: 1) an Import button on Password Manager - not there for Mac 2) Import password check box for when you import data - no there for Mac (only importing bookmarks etc)

Can I not use the csv file from Chrome in any way?

This seems to be a pretty significant way to deter anyone wanting to try a new switch, not on Windows.

Firefox STILL won't let me add a security exception. This problem was raised zilions of times.

A partial solution is found here (If I uncheck the permanent exception box, it will save it.)

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/987476

But I need to do everything twice to go through.

A second solution, i.e. remote the CA as explained here

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1020629?esab=a&as=aaq

is temporary and it doesn't work when you clear your history (the CA is again there).

Can you please, please, fix this? It was working fine with just 1 click on "confirm security exception" till 1 year ago. Why do you want to complicate easy things????

I am running OSX 10.9 Maverick on a Macbook Pro . I observe this problem in Firefox 25.1 The scroll bars in any application window all dissapear after about a second. If you resize the window or select an item with subdirectories in a list, the scroll bar in the pane you are in reappears, but it does not dwell long enough to allow you to move a cursor over it. (What is the point of making it dissapear anyway?) Two finger scrolling does not work for some reason, using a function and direction key or just a direction key works to scroll only in some websites but not all of them. This little bit of cleverness, if intentional is both un-needed and dysfunctional.

Recently I am unable to download anything in FF. It briefly acts as if downloading, but the file is corrupted and the next to the file in the DL manager it just says "Failed".

I tried Resetting FF. No luck. Then I tried all the steps in the "downloading problems" support doc. No luck. I tried with all add-ons disabled. No luck. In desperation, I searched for "Firefox" and moved two folders called Firefox, the application, and a .plist file to the trash (still there) and redownloaded Firefox and reinstalled. No luck.

If I click on a .pdf it will be be viewable, but it won't download. It's not just .pdfs that fail, it is any file I try and download.
