Whenever I open up PDFs within the Firefox browser, they have a black background and the text and images do not appear. I can copy the text and images out of the pdf and into a word document and it works out fine. Also opening it up on other applications works out fine. Attached is what happens when I open up a known working pdf in Firefox. The browser version is the current version, 135.0.

I'm begining to regret installing v146.0!

One of the most useful features of Firefox is the PDF editor and with this update, I've found that after annotating a PDF with several text boxes, clicking the text box icon (as shown in the attached screenshot) does absolutely nothing and it is impossible to enter any further text. The only way out of this is to refresh the pdf (after saving otherwise all changes will be lost) and then starting all over again only for the error to repeat itself making the editor almost unusable. Would really appreciate knowing how to work around this especially since to make my notes clearer, I change the color and the font size which is all lost everytime I have to refresh the PDF :-(

Incidentally, why are there so many updates? I prefer stable software that works rather than 'new features' that I never use!

Finally, Firefox used to have an amazing facility of making the Firefox private browser the default browser for Windows 10 but this was removed some years ago and can only be reinstated by changing registry keys. Everytime there's an update, these registry keys are overwritten :-(. Why was such a useful feature removed please?

Thanks in advance.

I have uninstalled Adobe Acrobat from my Mac Mini running Sequoia OS. Acrobat is not listed in my Firefox extensions. Yet, when I open a PDF from a link in an email, it opens in Acrobat (clearly announced as such with its logo) in a Firefox tab. Also, I have my Firefox setting for PDF files set to "Open in Firefox".

Acrobat is a vicious plague on my life, and I want it gone. Please assist me in ridding it from my Firefox use.

Thank you, Tom

I have a question about using Firefox PDF Editor. I copied some text from a PDF document that is on my computer, by highlighting the text and then hitting Ctrl+C. The text copied onto my clipboard OK. Then I opened a blank PDF document in the Firefox PDF Editor and tried to paste that text into the blank document, but I wasn't able to do so because when I right-clicked on the blank document and then clicked on "paste", nothing happened. This apparently is because the word "paste" is faded-out in the drop-down menu (i.e., it does not appear in prominent bold print). Google's Artificial Intelligence seems to indicate that the technique I used would work (see screenshot which I've uploaded). But it didn't work, so can anyone please tell me how can I paste text into that blank document?

I am using the FireFox PDF Editor to annotate a PDF, however, no method of me saving the document (whether that is save as, or save as PDF) will allow me to save any annotations on the document. If I try doing save as PDF, the preview shows up as blank sheets of paper, when I click "save as" it only saves one page of the 31 as BLANK. If I try doing normal save as, the saved file is un-annotated.

Please help... thanks

Hi everyone,

After enabling `privacy.resistFingerprinting = true` in `about:config`, I noticed that Firefox’s built-in PDF viewer (`pdf.js`) is always displayed in **light mode**, even though my system and browser themes are both dark.

I understand that RFP forces `prefers-color-scheme: light` to prevent fingerprinting, but this also affects internal components like the PDF reader. Unfortunately, the PDF viewer doesn’t provide a manual dark mode toggle.

Is there any **official or safe workaround** that allows keeping RFP enabled while still having the PDF viewer use dark colors?

Thanks!

Hello all,

I know this feature is brand new and awesome! I have a question about the statement below from the FAQ.

What does the statement "When editing with Firefox, your documents generally stay on your local device" mean? I am just wondering about the "generally" portion.

I sometimes have to edit sensitive documents and want to make sure that this editor is a viable option. Will there be a prompt if the file has to be uploaded to a server?

Just some security concerns.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Lately, whenever I try to open a PDF from a website open in Firefox, the tab crashes and the PDF does not open. An error stating that the Windows file-dialog has crashed is displayed at the top of the tab. I tried to attach a screenshot of the error but that action only generates another error.

This condition does not occur when I try to open the same PDF from the same website open in either Chrome or Edge, the PDF opens properly which leads me to believe the problem is in Firefox and not my Adobe installation.

Thank you

I am using Firefox version 136.0.1 and we have multiple PDFs that are password protected (please see attached screenshot from Adobe Acrobat).

When the PDFs are opened in Firefox, it allows the user to add annotation/text/draw which we do not want to happen hence we added restrictions to the PDF. It seems to me that Firefox does not respect the security added to the file. How can I restrict annotations to the PDF or at least require password when the user tries to add text to it?

The following viewers/editors ask for password before you can edit them (expeted): - Chrome - Edge - Adobe Acrobat Pro

Thank you.

Trying to read PDF pages in Firefox. When I click on a file it says "You do not have OpenText Content Server Browser Web Extension 2.0.10 installed, or it is not enabled. Follow these instructions to install and enable the extension." I've looked in the extension add ons but cannot find the appropriate add-on and when I go to download from file, there are no files that would are appropriate either. Any suggestions? Also, I'm using a federal government laptop if that has anything to do with it.

Thanks guys for any help you can offer....

I am a Dropbox user. I have until recently been almost strictly a Google Chrome user. The PDF seamless behavior I have been seeing in Chrome is like this: 1. If I click on a search engine result for a PDF, I see the PDF opened in the browser. 2. If I click on Download at Dropbox, the PDF is downloaded to my PC.

On installing Firefox, the behavior I saw was like this: Whether I clicked on a search engine result or Download at Dropbox, I saw the PDF opened in my browser.

When I changed the Action for Portable Document Format (PDF) (application/pdf) and Portable Document Format (PDF) (application/binary)to "Save File", the PDF downloaded to my PC. But so did search engine links.

I seem to have fixed the issue by making my settings like this: 1. Action for Portable Document Format (PDF) (application/binary) to "Save File" 2. Action for Portable Document Format (PDF) (application/pdf) to "Open in Firefox"

Fingers crossed. ??? I was wondering why it wasn't set up this way on installation.

I opened a new window and dragged a PDF into it. While the icons in the upper right do not include Edit, I just went to the field I needed to change (an alarm permit renewal, change of email). A box opened "somewhat" over where I clicked, and I was able to enter the new email, but I could not delete the old one. After saving and opening in Acrobat, both emails are written over each other, making both unreadable.

I cannot highlight my old email in the original form in order to select Delete. When I type my new one, a trash can appears, but that is for deleting what I just entered.
