When I normally open the firefox browser on my laptop the firefox account is signed in all the time and has no issue but as soon as I start sync it disconnects and when I login it shows the login success page but when I click on the "continue to navigate" the account disconnects again. Tried with temporary mode without add-ons and gave whitelisted firefox.com but it's still the same. The sync never bothered me before but I'm changing computer and I need transfer the browser data on the new computer. Can anyone help? Using Window 10, firefox version 78.0.2 (64 bit)

I saved my settings prior to windows upgrade in hopes of having a smooth transition post-upgrade. i created a firefox account quickly and didn't pay attention to the auto-generated password created (and clearly didn't read on to understand the impact of a forgotten password in this setting).

after upgrade- because i couldn't remember my password and had to reset, everything is lost- bookmarks etc. is there any hopes of recovering this?

However now i have to change my phone and the old one will be given to my friend, and obviously i have to reset it. I have Firefox sync on three computers, has worked flawlessly for years, yesterday had to reinstall Windows 10 Pro and all the software that I use, after installing Firefox on this machine by the way it installed the latest version which happened to be Firefox 79. I signed into sync as usual because this is not the first time I've had to do this over the last few years actually about two months ago I did the exact same thing to another computer with no issues on the same account. This time however sync did everything except for all my add ins after waiting, trying to find solutions online etc. etc. gave up, but gave it 24 hours more to try to figure out what was going on. Ran across a few articles that Firefox 79 change something with sync but don't understand exactly what they're talking about why this would affect this installation, so I then looked at the versions installed on each system, my main system is running Firefox 78 or I should say was running Firefox 78 I thought upgrading it to 79 would fix the issue so I did and that did not work. in the meantime I proceeded to uninstall Firefox 79 on the second machine that refuses to sync the add-ons and replace it with Firefox 78, during this process I removed all Firefox entries related to profiles installs updates etc. I tried to wipe every mention of Firefox on the machine as if it never have Firefox installed on it before. Installed 78 signed in to sink expecting everything to work as normal and still nothing it's been two hours since the install I have re-synced multiple times in hopes of getting it to work with no success it appears to sync everything but the add-ons, and yes I have add-ons on the sync list on all computers have double triple and quadruple checked that to make sure . I really don't want to have to manually run from computer to computer to figure out what add-ons I have and all the settings of each one to make it perfect because I have had issues in the past of installing an add-on on one machine and the settings being different on another causing issues between the add-ons would appreciate if somebody could tell me how why or what the hell I'm supposed to do here to make Firefox think actually work again the way it had worked for years I really need these computers identical in every way as i am disabled and have mobility issues such related to all be installing and uninstalling. Thanks for your help in this matter and I'll do my best to answer any questions to help you guys figure this out. Also I'm not even remotely familiar how to file bug reports or anything else so somebody wants to suggest that I would appreciated if they are able to do it on my behalf and I will give them all the information so it's done properly. Thanks againI just noticed that there's troubleshooting information able to be shared this information is being shared from the computer that works absolutely perfect and is the computer I want to sync from below if somebody wants to explain to me how I can get that data and add it to this post so you guys can compare and figure out what the heck the problem is I will do it.

I recently did a clean install of Window's on my computer. I have a Firefox account and am signed into sync, but I don't know how to get my add-ons and settings back. When I go to "Manage Your Extensions" I see all of them there, but I don't know how to make it so that their icons are viewable in my Toolbar where I can click and use them. What few add-ons I am able to get to show up in the Toolbar I got by either going directly to the add-ons website and installing from there, or by uninstalling them via the add-ons Manager page and then reinstalling. Which in my opinion defeats the whole point of having a Firefox account and sync activated.

Of critical importance is my need to get back the information that I had stored in Notes by Firefox. I was finally able to get the add-on to show up in the Toolbar buy following the above mentioned steps, however I am unable to sign in to Sync. Below I have listed each of the step I take along with attaching screenshots. 1) Click on Sign in to Sync - This opens a new Firefox browser window that prompts me to enter my email to continue to Notes. 2) I enter my email and click the blue Continue button. 3) I enter my password and click the blue Sign in button. 4) I enter my Two Factor Authentication. 5) The browser window that opened when I clicked Sign in to Sync closes and I'm back where I was when I started the Sync process, but now instead of showing Sign in to Sync Notes shows Reconnect to Sync with a warning triangle on the left side. 6) I Click to Reconnect to Sync and got through steps 2 - 5 but Notes still shows the warning triangle with the Reconnect to Sync message.

At no point in this process do I get any error message or invalid credentials prompt.

Please help!

I had a laptop with a broken screen and needed repair. Before sending it in, I created a firefox account and synced everything (with the intent to be able to get my bookmarks on a friend's desktop if needed while my laptop was in repair.)

I had only switched from chrome about six months ago, and had not made a firefox account until I was about to send it in for repair. I did not double check that this was working (beyond the fact that it synced successfully), nor did I connect a phone or other laptop, as I figured I would be getting mine back soon, and syncing things was just on the off chance I needed to get a bookmark in the week my laptop was away.

I was then told that the screen was not repairable, and that I would be getting the cost of the laptop as credit to buy a new one. NOT IDEAL. But I figured hey, I save all my files on an external anyways, can reinstall the programs I use, and can sync firefox and chrome to get my bookmarks and history back. None of my files/info was actually lost at this point.

So I did that. Got the new laptop, started reinstalling everything.

Downloaded firefox, logged in to my account to start the sync. It did not load a single bookmark, history, anything, although I had set it to save all of that, and made sure to sync and make sure everything was up-to-date before I sent my original laptop away.

So now I no longer have access to the original laptop, did not plan on this, and I can not manually export bookmarks to transfer them over. Synching firefox is my only hope for getting them back.

I've lost links to wedding planning, research articles, and several more things, and only now, when I started panicking about sync not restoring everything, have I been googling and finding articles warning that sync is should not be used as a backup.

Chrome, on the other hand, restored everything perfectly, but does not have any of the current bookmarks I'd needed and used in the past few months. Y'know, the most relevant ones I'd like to have.

What can I do now, and is there any even slight possibility someone behind the scenes as firefox can find my bookmarks/history saved on a server somewhere? I wasn't able to find a direct email or contact us form to fill out and ask.

Dear community,

I use Firefox on a Linux laptop and an Android phone.

For the past several months, I have been successfully using the Lockwise app on the Android phone to access passwords synced from my computer. I was not logged in to Firefox proper (the browser) until much more recently. Apparently, I have failed to notice that my passwords never synced to Firefox browser.

I have now reinstalled the OS on my laptop and all my passwords are gone there. They still appear in the Lockwise app, but none of my Firefox browser installs (which I all added to Firefox Sync much more recently than Lockwise) can access them. Essentially, it is as if they are only stored on my phone, anymore.

How can I get them back to the browser?

Kind regards, fNek
