I deleted a Firefox profile while troubleshooting a selenium/geckodriver issue. Doing so deleted many unrelated folders and files, but long story short my Python folder was obliterated but for a single file called vcruntime140_1.dll. It also rendered Firefox unusable.

I reinstalled Firefox with no success. I tried the refresh option from the installer instead — no success. I deleted everything I could find in regedit and my C: drive (no clue why several folders are left behind after uninstalling...). Re-install still failed: during all attempts I could open a Firefox window but I couldn't do anything within.

On a hunch I went into my recycling bin and restored the vcruntime140_1.dll that I had deleted, and Firefox started working again. I moved it from my Python folder (cause surely it doesn't belong there, apparently it's a Microsoft file) and Firefox stopped working...

I want to know where this .dll actually belongs, and if possible I would like to know a way to obliterate Firefox from my PC. Uninstalling should accomplish that, but sadly does not. Any other advice/commentary is welcome.

I realize this may be trivial, but I like it when things work the way they're supposed to. The Google calendar favicon has a number in it that is supposed to be today's date. It is never correct. The calendar itself is correct, but not the favicon. See attached screenshot. Today is the 28th, which the calendar correctly says, but the favicon says '14.' I tried it in Chrome, and it works correctly. So, there may be something FF (78) or one of my add-ons that is blocking that information. How do I track it down and correct it?

When using voice.google.com in Firefox the recipient can't hear me at all. This problem is intermittent. After I've restarted my Mac, things seem to work fine for a while. Then, after a while, the recipient can't hear me when I make a call.

I've given Firefox permission for google to use the internal microphone. The mic symbol flashes red. Another issue: the flashing red mic keeps flashing even after the phone call is ended.

I've tried clearing out cookies/cache, closing/reopening the page, closing/reopening the browser.

I've tried google voice in Chrome. I was not mute in that call. Thanks for any help.

I am running Firefox Ver. 79.0 (64-bit); Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu canonical - 1.0; on Ubuntu Bionic 18.04 I use the following javascript code in <head> to open a new window: <script> </script> The body is as follows: <body bgcolor="#F2E8DE" onLoad="nameThisWindow()">

Click <a href="javascript:openHomePage()">Open Homepage</a> to open Homepage.htm in a new Window. </body> This code will not display the menubar in the new window (HomePage). The new window opens, resizes, relocates, has scrollbars, has address bar and has the [Open menu] option to the right of the address bar. The way it should except for the menubar on my desktop. If I right click on [Open Menu] in the new window it shows a check mark before Menu Bar. If I uncheck it, it closes the menubar in the window that opened it (HomePageCaller). If I click on Customize in HomePage, it opens the customize window in a new Tab in HomePageCaller. If I open a link in HomePage with "Open Link in New Tab" it opens the link in HomePageCaller. If I open a link in HomePage with "Open Link in New Window" it opens the new window with a menubar like it should. I have opened about:config to change all nine of the "dom.disable_window_open" options to "false" and restarted the computer. This did not change anything? I have removed all content from the<head> except the <title> in the new window page. I have removed all content from the <body> except a line that says it is the new window. All to no avail. Thank you for any help someone can provide, Rob

Hi. Here's how it happened. I've using FF portable for a long time. I recently updated from v.69.0.1 to v.78.0.2. But the newer version installed in a different folder and now I can run both versions. Yesterday I had the v.69 working with around 500 tabs open. Suddenly it crashed and then freezed. Luckily, I had managed to save my current working session by accessing Tab Session Manager addon. But when I go to Tab Manager Session and click to open this saved session, FF v.69 will keep freezing, no matter what I do. (Tab Session Manager has another option „Export”, but I don't know to use it or what it does.) I will quit using FF v.69. But how can I get the new v.78 to open this 500-tab session? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I want to dictate in the on-line version with MS Word. When I select the Microphone icon, I get a message that the Website can't access the Microphone. I have already scanned all articles about the topic, but I can't get the microphone to work. When I go to Options > Privacy & Security > Permissions > Microphone > Settings I can enter the URL, but the Enter button doesn't work. There is no microphone icon in the address bar neither. When I select the Lock icon, it tells me in the information pop-up that I have given no permission to anything. I have neither found something in the Windows 10 setting. I tried to dictate with the on-line version of MS Word with Chrome, and there it works. I would very much appreciate the help of someone who came across the same issue. Regards Bernhard

windows 10 64bit, latest firefox install. i see an issue with my keyboard typing the wrong characters in firefox, it seems to randomly replace the character i press on the keyboard with a different one. I can be typing something into a webpage, either ebay or facebook, or even an address on any ecomerce site, and i get ridiculous spelling issues. E.g i type "firefox issue" into this page, and i get "firefix issue" if i goto the the "O" btton on the keyboard, and hold it down, i get "iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiioiiiiiiiiiiiiioiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiooiiiiiiii" or some other random pattern. I don't have any emoji extensions installed, and have zone alarm installed, and its up to date too. Any ideas??

In the last few days, a process called MainThread, using a lot of CPU time, has started appearing in my Ubuntu system monitor "top". I was worried that it was malware, and checked to see if it might be part of software I had recently installed. After checking with the software providers I had most recently dealt with, I didn't find any that said the MainThread process belonged to them. Then I noticed that the "firefox" process had disappeared from the system monitor. I suspect that MainThread is the new name for firefox, but I would like some confirmation of that theory. If that is the case, why change the name of the process from something recognizable to something unrecognizable? Thanks for any help you can give!
