I wanted to bump this as I never received a satisfactory answer for the reason behavior was changed and it is still something that feels like a UX regression.
Always keep me update.
Hello, I'm currently writing an article about FireFox and was just curious: when/what year did FireFox introduce the idea of browser extensions?

I like the pocket suggestions underneath the the search bar but cannot easily read what I type in the address bar & do not want to be forced to. FF flatly calls this better which is flat out, arrogant none sense as the font size is too small for so many & only causes eye & overall psychological strain. Must I permanently switch to google absent all pocket suggestions to achieve search & navigation in the search bar, in the middle of the page? Seriously. There does not appear to be an option to do so as before. Not allowing the option is at least arrogant & short sighted. Is there any chance FF will show more respect for its users in this respect & allow it?

When I launch Firefox, it refuses to open My Yahoo, which is the home page I have been using for many years. My.yahoo.com is still entered in Settings as my home page. Even if I type the URL into a new tab, it will not load. I have now switched to Edge as my default browser and it is working just fine. I would like to go back to Firefox, but there is no way I can do that if it wont even let my use my preferred home page. This is the second time I have presented this problem. So far - no response. I can be reached at ... @yahoo.com.

The German word concoction "Verschlimmbessern" which translates into "constantly 'improving' something until it actually becomes worse or dysfunctional".
I'm at a point now where we all give up on Firefox as these constant updates and uncalled and not requested changes not only become annoying but also introduce new dysfunctionality. (just like Windows 10 updates)
Too many to list here. but this job securing through constant new updates and changes gets very annoying.
Now the search feature has changed into some absurdity having to be in the address bar. We don't need that we don't want that! we wanted like it is and always was before.
Searching support I found answers but applying them does not work: "browser.urlbar.suggest.searches" change to false Search "keyword.enabled" change to false Search "browser.fixup.alternate.enabled" change to false browser.urlbar.openViewOnFocus change to false browser.urlbar.update1 change to false browser.urlbar.update1.interventions change to false browser.urlbar.update1.searchTips change to false
About to uninstall this nonsense altogether and install an old version again or better yet just give up on it and find another browser! I need a reliable browser that works and not something that annoys me after every update.

All of the colors are gone from webpages in Firefox--I've attached two images of Outlook: One, largely in black-and-white, was taken on Firefox, and is how Firefox has looked for two days now; the other, the one that is colored properly, was taken on Google Chrome, and is how Outlook usually appears. Unread messages aren't showing up tinted blue on Firefox, either, but the words are showing up bolded, like they usually would.
All websites look like this. On websites that have an image background (i.e., Netflix), the image appears, but the links (Log In, Forgot Password, etc.) are all in white boxes. Also, some things just aren't showing up--for instance, at the bottom of this page, there's a box that says "Email me when someone answers this thread," and I can't see if I've checked it or not--the checkmark isn't showing up. The issue there isn't that I'm not clicking it--earlier, I uploaded a video to YouTube, and where it offers the options "Yes, this video is made for children," and "No, this video is not made for children," the checkmark didn't show up, but YouTube allowed me to post the video anyway, indicating that I had, in fact, checked the box.
I've tried restarting Firefox in Troubleshooting Mode, I've turned off all ad blockers and extensions, I've changed the theme, I've restarted Firefox, I've restarted my computer, and I've re-installed Firefox, and nothing is fixing the issue. The eye strain is so bad I can't use Firefox; I've been using Chrome.

Long time user of FF, currently on Mac OS 10.15.7.
I upgraded to FF 91 last night. Immediately after restarting FF I noticed visual changes to FB, twitter and my streaming services (Prime Video, Netflix, haven't checked the others).
When I go to play an episode on Prime, all the logo buttons (eg fullscreen, close player, next episode) are white boxes. Other clickables on the episode screen are faded.
FB and twitter don't look right either. Everything is very white with boundary lines around sections missing.
Prime have said it's nothing to do with them. Restarting the mac didn't change anything.
I've reverted back to 90.0.2, but ended up in a mess trying to restore my settings, bookmarks etc via FF Profiles, and now have a blank FF 90.0.2 version. I've possibly lost some of the old profiles/files in that process, although everything technically is sitting in Trash.
I'd prefer to sort the FF 91 issues, is this a known issue? Any troubleshooting I can do?
Failing that, in the meantime how can I restore my bookmarks, history, and settings to 90?
Just installed 91.0.1. Color is absent from all sites. Bringing up Firefox color is a black and white page, no color at all.

I'm stuck using microsoft edge and I feel so icky and out of place. All I did was download a video a name brand video editing program from their site, then uninstall it, then use a register cleaner (cc cleaner) to fix registry problems. Now Firefox will open but none of the buttons will work! All functionality gone! Even after cold reboot and reinstall of Firefox!

This is an issue with Mozilla Support. I'd like to be able to mark an answer as obsolete, as it's potentially misleading.
If you search on Google for "firefox toggle bookmark bar", the first result is this:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/865261
It indicates that there's no shortcut to toggle the bookmark bar, which was probably true when it was written, but isn't true now (can use Ctrl+Shift+B). As the question thread is archived, there's no way to add additional responses to indicate the current Firefox functionality, and users that search for this information may get the impression that the older answer is still accurate.
I don't mean to single this example out, I'm sure there are others and the author of the answer did nothing wrong, but I would like there to be some way to help direct users to more up-to-date information.
