My malware program keeps saying that this: ecp.yusercontent.com is constantly trying to send information out of my computer and is calling it RISKWARE.

Why is this constantly wanting out and is hooked to the Mozilla file? Do I need to remove the epc file?

Thank you for your insight and help, Bill

Whenever a mistake is made in typing a url, http://searchguide.windstream.net automatically appears to try and search an alternate result, but instead fills the URL box with pages of jibberish that takes minutes to remove or delete, and then apparently times out and flags its own unsolicited efforts:

414 Request-URI Too Large

Simply X-ing out the tab and starting over is an option, but still a nuisance.

Blocking this particular web site, http://searchguide.windstream.net, would probably resolve the issue without blocking other services provided by Windstream.

Here is an example: If "democracynow.com" is entered instead of "democracynow.org" a huge amount of garbage is thrown into the url window by this unsolicited "searchguide" website and the following error message is presented by this unauthorized search effort: "414 Request-URI Too Large"

Other websites redirect appropriately, like "http://www.vitaletherapeutics.com" redirects without to "http://www.vitaletherapeutics.org" without automatically invoking http://searchguide.windstream.net and without creating the error message: "414 Request-URI Too Large"

If this is a form of web censorship and denial of access, I want to know more about it and help other web sites to take action to help ensure 1st Amendment inspired net neutrality, and to curb censorship.

Partial URL box/window content after unsolicited "searchguide" activity:

Google has taken over my computers, and have control of my browsers, phones, all my devices to include my printer. I just want to completely clean Firefox but there are files that they have made unavailable for me to delete. They went into my windows system files and loaded me down with add-on's and are using Parental Controls to limit my access to my own computer. Maybe it would be better if I closed my account and opened a new one after all my devices are clean, and back in my full control?

When Firefox loads it sometimes opens a new tab "from Firefox" using robot voice stating comp is infected with multiple viruses, says Firefox will be forced to disable comp if tab is closed ( I close it anyway, cause that's how I roll ). The rest of the time it opens a new tab (or more) for a company or search engine.

When Firefox was reopened after a reboot, Norton detected an intrusion attempt from a fake website. What's strange is two things: 1. The website was last accessed erroneously (misspelled it when entering it on address bar) three weeks prior. 2. The fake website was not being opened by any of the tabs reopened when Firefox loaded! Note that the reboot and reloading of Firefox mentioned above happened after another Norton warning that it detected a large amount of outbound network traffic. That warning occurred while I was cleaning up my long browsing history in order to reduce memory usage by Firefox. As a result of the warning, I ran several scans using Norton's Power Eraser, none of which resulted in any related security issues detected.

So, short of the offending website having hijacked a legitimate Add-on already installed when the site was first accessed, which I'm finding hard to believe, I cannot understand how that website could attempt to do anything if none of the tabs being opened from the previous session are pointing to it! Or can it, and could it have been running in the background all this time, stealing keystrokes and/or data from my computer - all from one quick linking to it, without any further access therein????? Is there a way to see what commands Firefox is executing at start-up and during a session?

I get a popup that says I need to update Firefox. When I come here I am told I am up to date. The site is this: https://iechuertu.org/7411633472363/e6b239166920a7a9223e628dc0fbde58/a8aed7c95297920e953ba5270e4b62ef.html

Is this valid?

My main Ubuntu Linux system has been in daily use for about 8 years. I have had two malware events that required reinstalling Ubuntu from a DVD with the feature called "leave user files unchanged."

Directly replacing the altered files and erasing the malware is a much easier and less aggravating way of recovering from a malware event. Linux is modular and the pieces are well understood.

The first thing, for Firefox is I wish all the browser add-on files were in a directory and could be examined and tinkered with. It would be nice if they showed up in the top analysis program.

The second thing I wish for is the Firefox website would have annotated pointers to the best instructions on the internet for Linux malware removal.

I wish I could go to the Mozilla support website and find links to step by step instructions for examining and reinstalling the X display (startx and the programs it calls) and the networking configuration and executable files. There should be several of these articles out there, written for different distributions and different levels of technical skill.

The operating system disaster began when I switched Firefox to "Restart with add-ons disabled" and I unplugged the ethernet cable. Apparently the malware was doing several things. When I interrupted it, the malware left networking broke or turned off. The malware had made some change to the startx or X display software. I could not restart the X display after I interrupted the malware. On restart, the computer was at a root account text console, with the additional trick that the computer would forget the USB keyboard existed after 20 minutes idle. Probably the malware appended some stupid dorm trick instruction to the config files in the user writable dot-config file area. I wish I thought of that yesterday! Duh.

I have been running linux 15+ years and the problem when you have a malware infection is remembering the many details of how Linux works. I know "startx" starts the X display but I don't remember where is the config file. Same for networking, I dimly remember how to restart networking but I don't know the modern details. If I could have cleared out the original malware file, and reset networking and the X display and then ran a utility like rkhunter with the latest configuration. I would have been all fixed in a few hours.

WebRTC is, essentially, spyware. It has extreme privacy and security implications. Yet Mozilla keeps turning the bloody thing back on by default with every update!

Mozilla, it's bad enough you cowed to the DRM people. Let's not cower to the webRTC folks too. Please make the default for Hello to be disabled, or at least honor the about:config settings of previous installations.

My wife runs firefox on a Surface with W10. When she opened it today the homepage looked like the control panel and a message was displayed at the bottom of the page that stated "Windows 10 Build is corrupted....". A dialog box displayed asking for login and password credentials. The only way to get out of this was through task manager. I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox and that seems to be working for now. However, this is the second time in a week that this has happened and I would like to know where it's coming from and ensure that it is removed completely from firefox.

I have been getting pop-ups blocked by my malware program, however it does not tell me how to get rid of it. It is called sync-en.exe.bid and shows different IP addresses each time it is blocked. I researched this problem and found that there are services that will scan your computer for free but charge to remove it. The other resource indicated to remove all "cinemaplus-4.2V29.07" from the add/remove programs; this name did not appear anywhere. How do I find this program and all of it's friends to evict them from my computer?

Upon search in my browser, the site launches and at times has the Firefox gold bar across the top stating it blocked pup ups, when I click on the bar and select to allow the popups to a known site my Norton advises it blocked an attack by a Fake App Attack. At times I get redirected to another page via ptrr18 or another type of adware. I have already ensured there is no upload that should not be on my computer and run Norton Power Eraser with no found malicious adware.
