Please help,I never use the social media bar. I don't understand twitter, never use facebook, don't have g+, pinterest or instagram account. How do I make it GO AWAY! It doesn't have the small arrow to close, and it's not even transparent, just annoying.

A step by step for dummies would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx!!

I'm not sure what I can say except that I click on the Firefox icon in the dock to pull up my gmail account. It seems preferable to click on the mail icon in the dock instead. Does it really matter or not how I obtain my mail? As you can probably tell, moving info around is somewhat challenging for me and if my question is doable, that would be great. Thank you, Theresa

Could Firefox 36.0 be the conduit that allows compatibilitycheck.exe on my Acer 32 bit Vista laptop? I suspect either it or TBird 31.5.0 ?

My 32bit Vista Acer Aspire 4730Z has recently fallen victim to the "compatibilitycheck.exe" problem. See (http://forum.kaspersky.com/lofiversion/index.php/t313939.html) for details on this problem.

I repeatedly go into Safe Mode and using DOS functionality delete the offending files ,compatibilitycheck.exe and others in a directory named "Compatibility Verifier" which often have spawned into all user's account on the PC. I do this with WiFi off, ie. not connectivity to the greater web. I reboot with WiFi off in normal mode and the PC is lightening fast. However after I reconnect to the web via WiFi the infection/virus or whatever it is returns, hogs CPU, and brings my Acer to it's Knees.

I can watch the spawning take place before my eyes in Windows Task Manager "Processes" where multiple instances show up each grabbing CPU.

Am running FireFox 36.0 with NoScript 2.6.9.16 and TBird 31.5.0, CLAMWIN ver 098.6 AV is also installed with current Virus DB always updated.

No other browsers are even on my machine except the built in IE which I never touch.

Could this infection possibly be coming in through my web connections through either Mozilla application

AM NOW ENTERING THIS ISSUE ON A MACBOOK PRO MacBook appears to be immune from compatibilitycheck.exe issues so whatever "Troubleshooting Information" i send in by pushing "Share Data" IS IRRELEVANT to my PC issues.

Hello! I have Windows 8.1 and I’m trying to make changes to my internet options. I can’t see any emotion smileys at all on facebook and I’m using firefox. I have heard that this will help: go into internet options, advanced tab, tick the box at the top that says software rendering instead of gpu.

But when I go to the settings I think my computer thinks I’m using internet explorer even though I have set firefox as my default browser.

I don’t know how I should do to get the settings iI wrote above in firefox. There were not in Firefox -> Tools -> Settings either. Do you know how I should do to make this settings or any other settings that will make me see the smileys again? English is not my mother language so I hope all the words I wrote were right.

Thank you!

I've followed all the instructions for enabling the cookies, but I still can't get Gmail to open up. I can get Google to open, but not any of my Gmail accounts. I also can't force Google to set as my home page, but that's a minor problem compared to not being able to access any Gmail accounts from Firefox. I am NOT computer literate, so all advice needs to take into consideration that I won't automatically know every step to take along the way. I sure wish Mozilla would have a 1-800 number to call. That'd make this a whole lot easier.

Hi,

Firefox these days has an annoying habit of starting videos on every news page that I open and when I scroll through my facebook newsfeed. There is only a very select amount of these videos that I would actually want to watch, and it's annoying to be bombarder with this media constantly.

I have tried disabling auto-play in the config page to no avail, and am not interested in installing add-ons to accomplish a task that should be handled by the browser itself.

So, does anyone know of a method to accomplish this with FireFox's own settings, or alternatively recommend a browser that does not have this offensive behavior ?

Thanks in advance...

Firefox is working fine except that it hangs and forces me to Force Quit the application every time I try to choose Add-ons from the Tools menu. I have never had this problem before.
