Running Linux Mint Mate 19.2 on two computers. Starting about 2 weeks ago, when trying to sign into providencejournal.com (with a paid subscription) using Firefox 97.0.1, just one of the computers displays an error message, see attached. We have used that site for years without issues, and the other computer still signs in correctly. On the problem computer I have just installed the Opera browser, for test purposes, and with Opera the sign-in succeeds. In F/F, I have tried disabling extensions, allowing all trackers and cookies, and reinstalling Javascript, all to no avail. preference is to use F/F, can anyone offer a solution?

Dear volunteers,

I am on Debian 11, Firefox 98.0.1.

Firefox reader mode only seems to render half the article I am currently on, example:

https://www.newyorker.com/news/q-and-a/the-purges-in-putins-shrinking-inner-circle

The reader view only renders up to "I think it’s a big challenge for them." but the actual article continues.

Is this a bug on my setup?

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

I have been having problems accessing part of a membership site. Can't get past the first step, it doesn't work for me.

Kubuntu 20.04.4 LTS Release: 20.04 Codename: focal Firefox Version 98.0 (64 bit)

Have been informed from the website owner that the IT person has tested this with Explorer, Safari and Chrome, and all work. The IT support person then goes on to state - "....... that the client needs to use a different browser as Firefox is very outdated."

So, I was using the latest version and it is "very outdated"  ???

How can I respond ? Is there a training course for the IT person to deepen their skill level ?

Having just upgraded my Debian 9 machine to Mint 20, this has updated my firefox browser.

Everything was going fine until I came across the problem where by all image downloads are saved as webp images, a format that my favourite image editing software cannot handle.

This is a bit of a pain and has made me start looking at alternative web browsers.

Just thought you should know how simple things can cause a loss of support.

When ever I start firefox, I receive two lines at the bottom of the home page - the first is a news feed (from Mozilla) and the second is a 'contributors' shout out. I've unchecked all the appropriate boxes in settings, and still no help. I've gone into about:config and ensured they are removed.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Firefox 99.0

I guess it's a problem with the latest update because it didn't happen to me before. Gmail keeps showing me this message: "Gmail is having authentication problems. Some features may not be operational. Please try logging in to troubleshoot the problem." I have relogin, deleted the cookies and site data but I still get that message. I have tried starting the browser from "about:support" in troubleshooting mode but the error still appears. This does not happen in other browsers.

When clicking on a link that does not include "www." in the URL, I am presented with an error SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN. But the certificate is good. the problem was the URL that did not include the "www."

This would be an easy fix! Just add "www." to the URL if it is missing. It could eliminate user confusion if they do not understand.

Just a suggestion

I've just started noticing in Firefox 99 on Arch Linux that Firefox is using the wrong font when the font-family is given as "ui-monospace/other fonts..., monospace". This looks similar to the issue mentioned here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1351497

The inspector for these websites underlines "monospace" as the active font, but then uses a non-monospace font (in my case, Bitstream Vera Sans) to display the content. This does not happen when the font-family is "monospace, monospace" or "monospace". I can't quite figure out exactly what causes the font to be chosen incorrectly: sometimes it does show up if I have the preceding fonts installed, e.g. Consolas or Liberation Mono, but other instances do not look as intended.

Currently, I have fontconfig set up such that: $ fc-match :family=ui-monospace VeraMono.ttf: "Bitstream Vera Sans Mono" "Roman" $ fc-match :family=monospace VeraMono.ttf: "Bitstream Vera Sans Mono" "Roman"

Firefox's fonts in about:preferences are configured as all defaults: Serif: Bitstream Vera Serif Sans: Bitstream Vera Sans Monospace: Bitstream Vera Sans Mono

The issue concerns the Flatpak version of Firefox on Linux. This issue only happens when I'm connected to my VPN router. For info, I'm using Fedora 35 Silverblue. This issue happens on Fedora 35 or Fedora 35 Silverblue. I been using Fedora since version 33 and such problem existed back then.

When connected to my VPN provider via my router, trying to start a Firefox Flatpak instance takes minutes upon minutes to load. I'm guessing it has to do with DNS query's Firefox does on start but I'm not sure. All I know is that when I connect directly to the internet without being hehind my VPN, Firefox loads in a split second. When I'm using the RPM version of Firefox supplied by Fedora, I do not have such issues even when connected to my VPN. This issue only affects Firefox Flatpak when behind a VPN. I tried opening the AppImage version of Firefox while connected to my VPN, and once again, it loaded within a few seconds. I been having this issue for many years and only figured out recently that my VPN connection was causing a problem.

I would like to point out that the Flatpak verion of Microsoft Edge and Chromium do start without any issues even while I'm connected to my VPN provider...
