I upgraded from (I believe) Firefox 43.0.1 to Firefox 47.0.1 on FreeBSD.

After the upgrade, I see that the scroll bars - both appearance and behavior - have been changed, and for the worse.

the fact that the scroll bar is narrower is annoying, but can be worked with. Though making a smaller space to grab the scroll bar indicator and move your viewport to where you want to be on a page is more difficult and more likely to cause frustration, it would be nice if the width could be restored.

Second, the "up" arrow and the "down" arrow used to click one line[ish] up or down have been removed. I can only see this as a decision to reduce the usability of the browser.

The major problem, and this may be a "look for a functional browser" problem, is that when you click in the scroll bar, instead of the expected behavior of scrolling up one "screen" if you click above the current position or down one "screen" if you click below the cursor, the behavior is to unexpectedly click to where the mouse cursor is. If you're on a short page, this isn't much of a problem, but if you are on a large page, the makers of Firefox have just made reading web pages incredibly difficult, as you have to fight with a narrow scroll bar to try to move an indicator a tiny bit by carefully dragging it - and in come cases, moving just a pixel or two down or up could cover several screens of a page. On any long page, firefox has just become unusable as a means of effectively reading that content.

In addition, double clicking on the blank space in the tab bar no longer opens a new tab. Instead, it does nothing.

Is there any way to get these two major usability issues addressed?

I'm running Firefox 57 on FreeBSD, and it's fine, blazing fast and all, but the audio is out of sync with the video... This is for YouTube, any streaming video, and local files opened in Firefox. Any video played locally in other software play normally without any issues.

Does anyone know what's going on?

In the troubleshooting information, under Audio Backend, it says "oss"; it should be PulseAudio... I think... Does anyone know how to change the setting? It *could* be that, but maybe it's not...

This MacBook Pro (15-inch-late 2011) 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB MHz RAM, Intel Graphics 3000 512 MB ... running MacOS High Sierra 10.13.4. ... It successfully launches Firefox (I downloaded upgrade on 03/03/2018 (Firefox 60.0).) But, then it just freezes until the machine times out on something critical -- and it totally CRASHES the entire MacBook Pro. After, crashing, I have had to reset the machine. I have EVEN replaced MacOS High Sierra and then re-downloaded and replaced Firefox 60.0 on a "clean" system. Apple Safari (NOTE: Safari is what I am sending this message on right now has NO PROBLEMs on the system!)

The system also has problems with Aspyr's Civilization V. They said that it is the Intel Graphics Card that causes the issues and they have NOT been able to correct the issue for their gaming software.

I have NO ISSUES ON RUNNING 99% of the installed application software that was downloaded via Apple MacOS App Store. What can I do? I have ALWAYS SUPPORTED MOZILLA and wish to use what is supposed to be a superior browser product -- FIREFOX 60.0!

FreeBSD artemis.boltsys.com 10.3-RELEASE-p18 dbus-1.10.14_2 firefox-54.0,1 thunderbird-52.2.1 sqlite3-3.14.1_1

starting either gets:

The application has been updated, but the SQLite library wasn't updated
properly and the application cannot run. Please try to launch the
application again. If that should still fail, please try reinstalling it,
     or visit https://support.mozilla.org/.

firefox-47.0.1,1 and thunderbird-45.2.0 work. In general since FreeBSD 6 updating any of the packages required by these products break them. This is just the lastest example.

I did not add browse information chrome is being used because it works.

Hi,

Whenever I attempt to upload a file or save as, the file selection dialog is immediately unresponsive, then Firefox crashes a few seconds later, and a dialog shows the options to "Debug" or "Close Program".

I'm pretty sure the problem is linked to Solidworks PDM*, because it only occurs when I'm logged in, and not when I'm logged out.

I realize that this isn't the most common piece of software, but I don't think that Firefox should should be crashing in this situation, as other browsers and applications don't crash when showing the file selection dialog.

There's nothing in about:crashes

There are two windows events associated with this, Error 1000 occurs first, then Error 1001 occurs about 2s later. Details below & attached.

Anything I can do to help get this fixed? (I have a workaround for the time being).

  • Solidworks PDM is a client-server Document management system that ties into the file system - the server location appears as a local folder, with extra controls when you're browsing inside it.

I used my own script to handle some types of files downloaded. It was easy to do before Quantum - just use "Browse..." button, and find your script. However, since I updated to 60.1.0esr (64-bit) my old settings are lost, and I can't make the same operation again because now Firefox only offers a list of installed applications, and I don't see any option to add there something. No "Browse..." anymore.

During my time online I've been experiencing firefox not working. I keep getting timed out error message while a website is loading. I always have to restart my computer because I can't do anything. I have tried closing out and opening firefox again which doesn't work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled which didn't help. I have rebooted which still hasn't help. Resetting my wireless connection also hasn't helped. This has been going on for about a week and I'm getting tired of it. My online time in the evening is valuable to me and I hate wasting my time because firefox isn't working correctly. Any suggestions on what I can do so I don't have to reboot my computer multiple times?

I have a new Dell Inspiron 7373 released in October 2017 with 8th generation i7 and Intel 620 graphics...

This is a new problem from sometime around (before?) the release of Quantum...

After some time using the browser, my laptop inevitably has a black screen of death (KSOD) issue where the device screen will not wake from display sleep (before the device enters sleep or hibernation) and the device must be shut off by holding the power button as the track pad or special key combinations do not work to wake the screen...

I have tried disabling hardware acceleration and uninstalling/reinstalling the Intel graphics driver (which is not testable for long since Windows Update re-installs it almost immediately, though I could try disabling wuauserv in the services manager...)

I also reinstalled Firefox and refreshed my profile, and tried running the browser in with the add-ons disabled...

...Please advise

Thank you for your time and consideration
