I am getting notices to upgrade to the latest Firefox, which Firefox on my computer says I already have. When I click next, a box asks permission to use acquireappstreams.best--which I cannot find on Google or Firefox. What is acquireappstreams.best, and is it a phishing scheme?

Hi --

As of the latest version of Firefox (v78.0.2 x64), all new tabs open at the end of the list of current tabs. If I only had a few tabs open, that MIGHT be okay, but since I keep many open, it's incredibly annoying. All I want is to open a new tab and have it appear to the right of the current tab. So far...

  • I've tried setting "browser.tabs.insertAfterCurrent" to true, with no effect.
  • I've tried the add-on "Always Right", with no effect.

Since I've noticed this behavior in many previous versions of FF, I doubt that uninstall/reinstall will address the problem, so I didn't try.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance to all!

Dave

I set the "Master Password" in Windows 10. When I initiate Firefox, sometimes the pop-up window asking for the master password does not appear. When I go to a site which uses user/password that I stored, I have to go settings, view the password and return to the tab where I need it. At that time my user password appears. After a while, the pop up window appears asking me for the master password. Does anyone has this problem? Is this a bug? in Mac OS I never had this problem.

Thank you for any help in solving this.

So let's say that I have a bookmark in my Firefox bookmarks sidebar with this as the 'Location': file:///E:/Name%20Of%20File.txt

If I were to click that bookmark, the contents of that text file will appear in the browser which allows me to read the contents of the file.

I want to be able to left-click that bookmark from the Firefox bookmarks sidebar or right-click it and select from a context menu and have that .txt file launch in a separate Notepad window, as in launching Notepad as an external application separate from Firefox.

Is that possible with some tweaking and hacking or whatever?

Hi, so recently, with firefox on windows 10 I haven't been able to use the address bar to access the list of sites which should be there that I visit every day.

Usually I just click in an empty address bar, and instantly the list of sites would just pop down from there, with highest frequency of visited sites at the top, down to other, less frequently visited addresses.

I'm not talking about top sites, like I can access in a blank tab if I activate that option. That was always where I pinned sites that were important for me to visit, but weren't as high frequency as email or facebook, which I would have at the top of the list of addresses in the address bar.

I can't seem to find the answer, but how do I get that to work again? Currently I can access top sites, which is really not what I want, as that is usually on a new blank tab if I choose to have that option chosen for there. Or I have access to history though only if I start typing in the address bar, which again, is not what I want.

Click and pop, and the list appears is all I want please.

About a week ago, 'Firefox' told me due to an update, I had to reboot. Since that time 2 of the programs I use 'Firefox' for cannot be opened. 'MeWe' was first, so I switched to 'Chrome'. Today my bank I can't get to, so switched to 'Chrome'. Getting help here seems like I am to read REAMS of bumph that has nothing to do with my troubles. Ask me of my frustration, and you'll learn a new language. I started using 'Firefox' when it first came out, and until 2 weeks ago, all worked fine. Now I can't trust it for anything.

2 related problems. 1) Lately having difficulty playing vids on Twitter. Sometimes fine, other times they start, then reboot, repeatedly and won't play.

2) I used to see prompts on explore.org for 'pop cam', to create a new window of just the live-cam. This prompt no longer appears in FF. When I open the site in Vivaldi, it appears, as you can see in the screenshot I've attached. Eg., https://explore.org/livecams/africam/olifants-river

I have read through a number of FF articles, tried changing audio/visual permissions, cleared cache. No difference. I have way too many tabs open, though not loaded. I sincerely hope this isn't creating the problem, as my brain is very slow, it takes me a long time to complete things I've been researching. And until very recently, there were still many tabs, without my current problems.

Thanks for your help.

Hello, probably something stupid but suddenly I cannot get to https://chat.mozilla.org/ - has it moved or something? I just get a blank page. This is using Firefox 78.0.2 (64-bit) under Windows 10 (Home). I am pretty sure that SSO (via my github account) normally works. Thanks Spike

I've changed my personal device and currently I only have Firefox installed for the device I am using. When logging in, I've restarted the account password, expecting that sync data from previous devices will be there even after password reset.

Now I've lost all my data, so is it possible to recover Firefox sync data in this scenario?

Starting Firefox under a Wayland compositor (sway, in my case) with MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 and copying some multi-line text results in newlines of the form \r\n, i.e. Windows-style, instead of the expected \n. Starting Firefox with the X11 backed, i.e. without MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1, doesn't exhibit the issue.

This is most certainly a bug since Wayland is a Unix-like protocol, and as such newlines should be of the form \n. However I am finding the bug tracker a little daunting and I am not sure how to check whether it is already known or not.
