4 Oct 2015. This question is directed more to developers than users. With the introduction of New Tab Controls an hour or two ago, the about:Config, browser.newtab.url setting no longer works. I found this feature very useful, and don't much like new tabs displaying my favorite pages as icons (or otherwise), or just being blank. If this question does reach the developers (people to whom I and every user of Firefox are indebted, albeit not financially), could they consider adding a New Tab Control setting that provides the option of setting a selected page that need not necessarily be the Home Page? Thank you.

So I had to reinstall Win10, So a fresh install with Firefox and a new profile (I imported bookmarks). And now everything is sluggish. Videos and .gif are fine, but the UI is lagging. If I open and close tabs I can clearly see them stutter, before it was fluid movement. It's the same if I zom an image (the images get larger and "pops up") I can see it stutter. Same with right click, it takes a moment before it opens.

It was working fine before, but now it's not working properly. I tried to create a new profile and reinstall Firefox, with and without addons, but didn't help.

I am trying to update to the latest version of Firefox on my MacBook Air, with OS X 10.7.5. When I drag the Firefox icon to the Applicaitons folder, I get the message, "The operation can’t be completed because some items had to be skipped. For each item, choose File > Get Info, make sure “Locked” is deselected, and then check the Sharing & Permissions section. When you are sure the items are unlocked and not designated as Read Only or No Access, try again."

Huh? How do I even know what each item is?

I started off being unable to print anything. Firefox says it can't find my printer (I paraphase). When I try to find any settings to check, I can't find them. The options that others have listed to resolve these things are options I can't find.

So, then I tried to log on th the Firefox site but can't, as I can't remember my password. hit the lost password option, key in my email address, it says email has been sent. Nothing received although other emails are arriving in my inbox. Check spam, waste bin and so on, but still no email to reset my password.

Wait an hour then go through the same process again. Still received no email after checking trash and spam as well as inbox. Don't have a separate folder for Firefox or Mozilla either.

Have had to create a second account to be able to post this message. I don't know where to turn or what to do next. Does anyone have an idea of what's going on please?

Silverlight 5.1.40728.0 reported by Firefox 41.0.1 as vulnerable/'update now' when I check my plug-ins are up to date. Clicking the button takes me to MS Silverlight download site, but all I get from following instructions is same version of Silverlight and same outcome from Firefox. What is the vulnerability? Why can't Silverlight update? Am I safe to leave Silverlight as is or should I disable it? Or what? Why report it as vulnerable and needing update if there is no remedy?

Everytime I attempt to start Firefox, it crashes. It gives me the crash reporter, but that's it. It won't let me start in safe mode either.

I have tried all the suggested fixes, including resetting factory defaults, and downloading and reinstalling Firefox. I have Norton, which indicates no viruses present. I'm running Windows 7, and have downloaded all the required patches/fixes/etc. from Microsoft.

The odd thing is, I went to bed with it working, then woke up the following day with it crashing, and there weren't any downloads or program installs in between.

I attempted to 'automatically add' troubleshooting information, and apparently all that did was try to open Firefox with predictable results (crash) so I opened the details and pasted them below. So now, the above crash is not my most recent, as the directions told me to post, the below crash is. Both are the same issue however -- Firefox just won't start.
