The following URL does NOT work in Firefox. However, it DOES work in Internet Explorer and Google Chrome:

https://www.ascap.com/ace/

The main ASCAP URL works just fine. The problem seems to be confined to this link alone. Please fix; thank you!

Ok here is the deal... I have played with all the option in the about:config settings but I cannot get FF to treat links like it does on my other computers.

The settings I am trying to achieve:

Search engine links to open in current tab Forum links to open in new tab External links from facebook to open in new tab

Pretty much if I am navigating within a single webpage I would like the links to open in the current tab. If I am going to be linked externally I want them to open in a new tab. I can only manage to get FF to either open all links in the current tab or in new tabs or windows. I cannot get certain ones to open certain times... My about:config settings for browser.link* are all set the same as my other computers which treat links the way I prefer.

I have Flashblock already installed to prevent malicious Flash. Firefox still insists that I manually Allow flash on every website I visit - this is really annoying. I found a flag that disables the nag bar in about:config (extensions.blocklist.enabled). It took weeks to find - what a pain in the... neck.

Also there is a control in the Add-on for the Flash plugin that appears to be redundant (Always Activate) as it is ignored. Currently Flash handling is a mess. Could you put all the controls in one place and no special handling with obscure flags?

OK so while I'm here ;) ... what's with no "Ask to Activate" for the IcedTea plugin? Isn't Java the No. 1 attack vector?? It makes a mockery of all the hoo-haa about Flash.

For the past few weeks, Firefox's window has been often disappearing out of the blue as if the browser crashed, but the browser's process keeps running in the task manager and I have to kill it to restart it. No crash report is ever generated. This happens often on websites that use Flash such as Youtube, Grooveshark and Imgur. I've disabled hardware acceleration but the crashes still occur. Please help.

i7 930 @ 3.8GHz, 6GB RAM@1600MHz, Intel SSD and Nvidia 660 Ti 2GB. That's my PC. It starts up in seconds, it's 100% stable, can run any video/audio production software with ease, and play any game at high/max settings.

But somehow, Firefox doesn't seem to care. It keeps freezing up, lagging, and driving me crazy in the process. I've tried everything: reinstalling, resetting FF, removing addons, reinstalling addons, doing clean installs.... nothing. I've tried chrome. Works fine. IE even works better than FF.

All this started in the last year or two. Slowly. I've felt each version getting slower and slower, and now it's just ridiculous. I open like 10 tabs and FF grinds to a halt, it takes 5-10 seconds for it to un-freeze sometimes. And facebook timeline scrolling?! forget about it. the more you scroll, the worse the freezing gets, to the point where I'm forced to restart FF and start all over again!

I've been with FF since v1, I've watched it grow into the best browser of all, but I've also watched chrome rightfully take that title away in the last few years, because of what FF has turned into.

I'd much rather stick with FF, but the frustration is getting out of hand. I can't take the slow and buggy performance, and I can't seem to find a solution.

So is there a way to make firefox work as it should on a fast PC, or do I have to switch to chrome to get the performance back?

I'm currently on 36b. This is actually the first time I've used beta in a long time because I wanted MSE enabled with "mostly full" support for HTML5 video for sites like youtube. I decided to uninstall Flash due to its ongoing security issues so that's basically why I went to Firefox beta.

Fast-forward a week, and now I find out that Mozilla pushes through a very sneaky (no release notes) update to beta a couple days ago that disables MSE. So now I'm left in the dark on what I should do -- that's basically question #2. My main question was, what is my current beta going to auto-update to when an "update" is available on 23 Feb...version 37beta? That's a hard question for Google to answer apparently. If I change my update channel in about:config to say "release" is that going to blow up my extentions and bookmarks when an update comes and gets "downgraded" to the "release" version? I'm kinda hesitant to jump to "Nightly" just for the sake of getting a functional MSE again...and btw, is "Aurora" now = "Nightly"?

Thanks bye.

Mozilla does not warn or explains what will happen if or when someone clicks: "Refresh Firefox".!!! Mozilla does not explain what happens when someone chooses to have a "New Profile". Mozilla did not say that after clicking "Refresh Firefox" it automatically replaced the user firefox version at the time, Ex: mine was 26.0 and after clicking: "Refresh Firefox" the version was changed or 'updated' to 35.0.1 After clicking "Refresh Firefox" I found myself without any passwords, bookmarks, history etc... So what good was to click: "Refresh Firefox". Mozilla should explain in advance the purpose of using "Refresh Firefox". Of course it was not my desire, intention or decision to change versions; I wanted to keep the same version. It was when I was watching "YouTube" and it had no sound that it suggested to check with the browser, 'biggest mistake I've ever made.!!!! Today is Feb.17.2015 and I clicked: "Refresh Firefox" on Jan.25.2015 And there is no one or any help available to restore the PROFILE. I can find where the Profile but I lack any computer savvy to integrate to the way it was, before. There is no software that could put it back, or downloads to fix it. I do not know how to continue after finding the PROFILE". I want the old profile" back; I do not need a new profile now that I understand, just a bit too late what it is. I cannot afford: Tech Support at this time.

TODAY. Feb.18.2015 is 25 days since I enjoyed MOZILLA 26.0 Version and I committed the mistake of clicking: "REFRESH FIREFOX" ever since then it has been hell. I trusted MOZILLA like one would trust his mother and more than the Bank. After years and years of having MOZILLA as the default browser, now is all crap. There is no MOZILLA or person to represent MOZILLA to look into the issue. The feeling may be described as being mugged by surprise. MOZILLA does not warn in advance what the consequences are if one CLICKS: "REFRESH FIREFOX". It only says that MOZILLA will save all passwords, bookmarks, history, etc... in a PROFILE. It does not say what happens when a new PROFILE IS STARTED. It also does not say that by "REFRESH FIREFOX' the browser is updated without asking. And MOZILLA does not offer a simple 1,2,3 download easy fix to incorporate back, re-integrate, retrieve or restore: the previous PROFILE.!!!!!! ONE had before. All one gets is like being thrown to the lions in the coliseum like the early christians, being up for grabs to find out from computer tech specialist to fix the issues or problem. And so far no information found in Google Search, You Tube, or Computer Technicians, and now MOZILLA SUPPORT have turned out anything to fix the problem. The feeling is as if someone had money saved in the Bank, there is no way to get it, or someone says one cannot get it, and one needs money and has no money. I guess it might be productive to write this story and send it to the New Papers and blogs online.
