Please continue here: [/questions/997927]

I've been using firefox for many years. It's by far my favorite browser. I love everything about it.. but the spellcheck. Firefox's spellcheck is so terrible is to the point of being a joke.

For example, in this post I'm using the work "spellcheck" but firefox is underlining it as spelled incorrectly. My options to replace it are "spell check" "spell-check" or "spellchecker"

If "spellchecker" is a word, how on earth can "spellcheck" not be? Yes, I could add it to the dictionary, but I'd need to add a large portion of the english language to get the dictionary fixed! It's that terrible. And while I'm at it, "ENGLISH" isn't in the dictionary unless its capitalized, which isn't correct because English has an entirely different meaning than english! I have a google table open constantly so that while I'm making posts I can jump over to google to check for the correct spelling of works that firefox can't recognize.

Yes, I could replace the dictionary. But why should I need to? Shouldn't one of the most popular browsers in the world default to a dictionary that actually has something of the same quality as far less popular browsers? A new dictionary wouldn't solve the most basic problem Firefox has which seems to be its complete inability to do decent pattern recognition. When you do spell a word incorrectly, it rarely has options that are even remotely related to what you're trying to spell. Again I have to jump over to google search to find the correct spelling.

Since there is no way, of creating a poll, please all that want the old GUI back, post "me too". The reason behind it is, that people should not be forced to create a social media account to do so and that this is the only way developers get a feeling of what is wanted.

This is not meant as a demand towards the developers, it is just a means of evaluation to help considering decisions.

Why, do I do this? Because, "classic theme restorer" add on isn't really reversing it.

Others that had that problem and a crippled solution: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1018434?esab=a&as=aaq https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1032824?esab=a&as=aaq solution: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-make-new-firefox-look-like-old-firefox

Someone did put it down very nice elsewhere: "it is a shame that people actually HAVE to create an addon for it".

Please continue here: [/questions/975289]

I'm currently running v24 in Windows 7 Pro x64.

Since one of this year's updates (21? 22? 23?), several web sites that I've been visiting weekly or monthly (to pay bills, etc.) for years no longer work smoothly. Clicking on links/buttons that execute actions (e.g., "Submit", "Next", etc.) don't go directly to the desired page. Instead I get a page with a text message that's something like "This page has moved. Click here for new location." (And no, they're not the "redirecting in 10 seconds" kind of messages.) I can still get to where I need to go by clicking that second link, but all those extra clicks in the past 2-3 months are getting on my nerves.

Needless to say, this is really annoying. Since I've not added any new add-ons in many moons, my suspicion is that Mozilla changed a default setting somewhere in a recent update (from "Off" to "On" or "True" to "False" or vice versa). Anyone have some insight into how I can eliminate this annoyance?

So my question for the community: Does this article not sum it up perfectly or what? The quote above especially I thought, was exactly correct and plain genius. Only thing about this whole debacle that made me laugh.

Hello,

every so often you can find people moaning, that they want tabs on bottom back (which can be fixed by an add on) and further things that would make FF like it was before australis. I understand, that for you developers, a decision had to be made and it is no way possible to maintain both GUI-versions, but:

Can't we just do a poll to decide, what GUI is preferred?

(I actually ask with a bit stranger background. It doesn't have to worry you, but I include it for sake of completeness. I use TenFourFox for old unsupported PowerPC Macs. I can install "classic-theme-restorer" for version 31.3.0, but it doesn't work without glitches. For example the Apple specific traffic light buttons disappear from time to time.)
