For many years a happy user. (handicapped with shattered wrist, may be typos.)

My mac spontaneously crashed and rebooted overnight, a rare event. When I came up firefox wouldn't work.

Many, many times I clear out all vestiges of firefox from downloads, applications and every place I can think of.

I then empty trash and I use safari (ugh) to reinstall firefox. Everything proceeds well. When I activate the newly installed firefox application, nothing happens. Eventually in the "Force Quit Applications" it says Firefox "not responding"

I cannot think of anything else to try. Everything else on the Mac seems to be functioning well. The os is 12.7

The support archives do not have a case like this—0 responses

This is not the first time this has happened, another idiot browser update: For whatever reason the checked box for "Always ask you where to save files" is out and instead defaults to "save file to" which over rules the checked box for "Always ask you where to save files" and then also auto opens attachments in pdf... Hello, 1. How do I bring history back -since mid March - after a windows system reset and laptop clean up recently? I signed on but I cannot find the prior history nor tabs closed. I use Windows 10. 2. Why when I open a new tab, the 'profile or account' icon does not show my picture, so as to indicate that I am signed on? Each time a new tab is opened, Mozzilla does not recognize me!! 3. When I click on the account icon on the second row, instead of taking me to my account, it takes me to settings, Synch. 4. I have selected the dark mode - from customisation - but the first two rows are in light blue-gray color same as the task bar of Windows 10. 5. I tied to use the take a screen shot function to send you a screen shot of the page that appears in dark except the top rows, but when I click the screen shot icon - that I have placed in the second top row - it does not activate-work. 6. From the Menu some info shows in Greek although my selected language is English. Is it possibly due to my location, under the profile, being Greece? should I change it? I am sure I ll come across more issues, as it feels as I am driving a new car since the change and all is annoying Thanks

duplicate of /questions/1443841 thread.

I cannot get firefox to update. It is set up for automatic updates but they don't happen. Even if I try manual installation of updates it says the update fails. I ran it in troubleshooting mode and the problem still exists. I restarted my computer and the problem still exists. I am using a mac running on Monterey. How can I get it to auto update again? (and even though it says failed to check for or install updates, it looks like I do have the latest version of firefox)

Firefox for windows update/download

I have been using Firefox for 64bit Windows (now Win 11) for years. Occasionally, when I open Firefox a message will appear informing me that a new version is available, and it gives me a choice to download it or not. I normally select not to download it, and instead go to Help/About which then automatically checks my version to determine whether or not it is up to date. Lately, that has not been working properly, or at least not the same as it used to work.

Today the message opened to tell me a new version was available. I closed that message, and went to Help/About which showed my current version, 100.0.1, is "up to date". So I then went to the mozilla website, and found that there is a later version, 101.0, available. As you can see by that the auto check in Help/About seemed to not have worked correctly. So, wanting to be up to date, I attempted to download the new 101.0 version. When I clicked on Download it immediately displayed the message, "Your download was interrupted. But all is not lost. Your system may not meet the requirements for Firefox, but you can try one of these versions."

No matter how many times I tried, it continued to give me that message without allowing me to download the 101.0 version. So I went back to Help/About to try that again. It still said my version 100.0.1 is "up to date". I started over on Moxilla.org, and instead of immediately trying to download I clicked on "See Release Notes". That displayed the release notes for 101.0, and when I clicked on "Windows 64 Bit" in that screen it did download the Firefox installer which I saved to my hard drive.

I then ran that Firefox installer which informed me that Firefox was already installed, and suggested I update it instead which I accepted. The installer supposedly did it's thing, but now when I go to "Help/About Firefox" it shows that I still have version 100.0.1 installed AND it is still "up to date".

So what gives? Is there really a new, 101.0, version? If so how do I update to it?

Will it be OK to upgrade my Firefox browser from Rel 72 to latest Rel 100 in one step ? OS is Mac OS X Monterrey 12.3..1 Or should I do 1 or more intermediate upgrades to be safe ?

FWIW, I've had enough problems upgrading from OSx Mojave to Monterrey. I am leery of the huge jump from FF 72 to 100.

All advice most welcome.

I am trying to add my Android phone as a device to Firefox. I initially invoked the code scanner next to the search bar, but got a message saying that the code had to be scanned from within the Firefox app. So I installed the app and followed these instructions entitled "Connect Another Device".

• If you haven't already, install Firefox on your mobile device. • Open Firefox on your mobile device. • Open the menu, tap Settings and select Turn on Sync. • Scan this code:

There is no Turn on Sync option in the Settings menu. I have looked in every menu item that appears even remotely related to syncing with a QR code or adding a device and come up empty.

I found this exact issue in two existing questions, but neither of them had ever been answered, which makes me less than confident that mine will. If there is a Turn on Sync option in Settings, and I just overlooked it, please explain step-by-step where I can find it. If there really is no Turn on Sync option, please provide an alternate method of adding my Android phone.

Thanks.

I've been seeing suspicious .htm files appear in "downloads" when I hadn't requested any downloads. When I try to open the file, it always appears blank. Once I rebooted without deleting the file, and my system acted like it had a virus. I rebooted in Safe Mode and reverted to a restore point, then everything was fine. But I'm still seeing those suspicious files appearing, at least once per day. How do I stop them?
