My computer almost feels like it's been infected with some sort of virus but from the other posts I understand that this is, for some reason, an issue where user control has become non-existent and that's how it was built. When I try any of the workarounds mentioned here I still have a choice between only gray and white for the background depending on what the theme is? I've tried both and many pages with the gray background open with red or green text and other sites with the white will show bright yellow text. I use Firefox for the outstanding privacy and speed and have for more that 10 years. Another reason was the control I had in making the page my own but that seems to have been taken away for some reason. Does anyone know how to actually regain that control without unsupported workarounds. Apparently the only actual choice is to install WIN11 (which has, once again, changed where menu items can be found and some disappeared altogether). Two miserable choices because someone thought forcing all pages to follow simple, but nonsensical rules. I've added a screenshot page from Ars Technica to illustrate. (I can't seem to add a link to the article without the long URL showing) The entire article is white text and simply disappears. What can I do to regain control?

Unlike most of you, I don't have a PhD in Computer Science, and have no idea what a CSS file is, where it is located, and how to edit it. So if you got a simple step-by-step solution, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you! Alex

How do I change the font size of Firefox's headers elements: menu, tabs, bookmark toolbar, bookmark manager without changing the font across Mac iOS or otherwise messing up the other settings?

I've searched this question and found one answer archived that did not really fix the problem. I'm looking for an extension or a setting integrated in FF, not a font size change in Mac iOS (Monterey) or one that changes the font in the browser pages.

Love FF and Mozilla and all the volunteers who make my entire work day so easy with great, secure, handsome products! I'm a devoted fan. Thank you!

With a new update that came out a little bit ago, firefox decided to match themes and dark/light mode. I don't like this. I use the darkfox theme, but like light mode for everything.

I previously changed browser.theme.content-theme, which fixed the content, but not toolbars/popups/etc.

Today I found out about browser.theme.toolbar-theme and changed that, which did make everything else light mode (temporarily).

It seems that the changes in about:config are tied to the theme as well. Every time I close firefox, the changes revert. When I switched the theme from darkfox to the default light theme, it changed the preferences to light mode, and when I went back to darkfox it changed the preferences to dark mode.

On darkfox, the preferences are: browser.theme.content-theme 2 browser.theme.toolbar-theme 0

On the light theme, they are: browser.theme.content-theme 1 browser.theme.toolbar-theme 1

Is there some way to unlink theme and preferences, or otherwise lock these two specific preferences so firefox stops trying to match my theme and dark mode?

I am planning to migrate from chrome to firefox, Right now i have many extension that i use frequently based on my needs. for example if i am developing i would enable all the extension that i need and when i am done i unload them.

Another example would be vpn or proxy switch that some times is needed and in order to having no conflict i need to Enable or disable them.

right now for this grouping of extension i use a Chrome Extension chrome extension.

I want to know if such a extension exist? if not, is there any underlying support for me to write a extension to meet my needs?

I've just suddenly had this problem starting today: downloading files through the browser is now automatically sending them to my computer's Downloads folder, even though I have my download settings set to 'Always ask you where to save files'. I double-checked to see if my settings had been reset by the update (they had not), and I even unselected and reselected the option to see if that helped anything (it didn't).

I'm new to Firefox and having problems getting started. I am 78 and not good with tech stuff.

Firefox was working quite well and then suddenly things went wrong. There was a "sidebar" open the entire length of the screen at the left, it usually showed history. My add-ons showed at the top right after the search bar, they disappeared. Bitwarden was one of them that I use all the time to log into websites. I think they disappeared when I closed the sidebar at the left. I would like to know how to open the sidebar and how to restore the add-ons. (They still show and are turned on under Add-ons Manager.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated as my Firefox is not usable in it's present form.

THANKS, chubbles

Hi, after install new version of Firefox to version 98 on my Linux, firefox opened all libreoffice documents as writeable. Older version (97) open document as readable and you have to click on Edit Document for work with them. At now, when the document is writeable and opened from same tmp directory, you can save document to this tmp directory and and lost your data (work). Its possible to repair it? I try the same in Thunderbird (91.7) and there is Ok. All of opened documents are only readable. Dr.
