To preface this, I am not sure if this is caused by my OS (Ubuntu 24.04) or by the way Firefox tends to work on Linux as other issues have been (and therefore, might be resolved with a change in about:config).

Problem: When I download a file and download another one right after that one, the window showing the folder I am choosing to download to won't show the file/image preview of the file I just downloaded before; it only shows the correct preview once I have opened the file manager on my OS; after doing that the file preview is up to date again. (basically, it only shows the correct file preview when I viewed the files on my desktop before opening the download window and will not keep up to date with the most recent changes on its own like it does on Windows for example)

There are times that I use the screenshot tool on X.com and the filename it saves to is WAY too long. Sometimes it tries to use the entire content of the post as the filename. I see this effect in the title bar as well. Is there a way to change it so it only uses a date/timestamp and nothing else? Attached is an example of this extremely long naming. so in the top right there is "Finish setup", i have marked all things, beside "Import previous browser"... the problem is.... what previous browser?... it is a fresh installed system, i have no file to import, and for whatever reason i can not skip it, which doesn't make sense... cuz firefox works without those imports... so why do i get forced to import them... i do not have anything... the annyoing part it... when i click on it, firefox says something "couldn't find files"... which sould be a deead giveaway that i don't have any, it it just should move one... i tired to disable it in about:config, i tried to edit ~/.mozilla, did not work... i just have that super annyoing text at the top, where i have zero change of removing.... why don't you just add a "skip button"... is taht to much to ask?

On the Save Page As dialog on Linux, how do I edit the choices of where to save?

The stock options are Home, Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Pictures, Videos, and + Other Locations.

I don't use most of these directories, but I do use two dozen others. Navigating to them using Other Locations is painfully slow; it would be ok if I could then save the location I've navigated to, but I haven't found a way to do that, and clicking one path element at a time for 6 element paths over and over gets old quickly.

Typing the path I want either nukes the default filename, or else it tries to match the filename string from the URL in the target directory, which doesn't show me existing directory contents.

Thanks for any clues...

      1. 🔷 **Issue Summary:**

While using Firefox under normal conditions, the system **freezes completely** at random times. The desktop environment becomes unresponsive, requiring a hard reboot to recover. The issue typically occurs during heavier browsing sessions (e.g., video playback or graphics-heavy websites).

System logs (`dmesg` and `journalctl`) show **AMDGPU virtual memory protection faults**, indicating a GPU-related issue triggered during Firefox usage.

---

      1. 🔷 **Log Snippet:**

```text amdgpu 0000:03:00.0: amdgpu: VM_L2_PROTECTION_FAULT_STATUS:0x00641051 Faulty UTCL2 client ID: TCP (0x8) PERMISSION_FAULTS: 0x5 [gfxhub0] retry page fault (src_id:0 ring:0 vmid:6 pasid:32776, for process RDD Process pid XXXX thread firefox-bi:cs0 pid XXXX) ring gfx_low timeout, but soft recovered ```
---
      1. 🔷 **System Information:**
  • **OS:** Linux Mint 22.1 x86\_64 (based on Ubuntu)
  • **Kernel:** (e.g., `5.15.0-xxx-generic`) ← *replace with actual kernel version*
  • **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 7 5700U with Radeon Graphics
  • **GPU:** AMD ATI 03:00.0 Lucienne (integrated)
  • **Firefox Version:** (e.g., 126.0) ← *replace with actual version*
---
      1. 🔷 **Steps to Reproduce:**
1. Open Firefox and browse modern websites (YouTube, media-rich content). 2. Use the browser for several minutes (random trigger). 3. Suddenly, the system UI becomes frozen and unusable. 4. Logs show AMDGPU VM fault and `gfx ring timeout`.
---
      1. 🔷 **Expected Behavior:**
System should remain stable during normal browser usage, especially with an officially supported AMD APU.
---
      1. 🔷 **Actual Behavior:**
GPU driver crashes causing total system freeze, likely triggered by hardware acceleration and memory permission faults inside the amdgpu driver stack.
What's wrong with the new release?
Today i decided try the new firefox(140) since it's going to be ESR, but i'm getting hot-fan from a couple of tabs (particularly video streams). Second it's slower and seems to have 4second delay for shutdown..
The laptop is running linux mint with intel i5 (11th), tigerlake (iris xe) gpu. It might not be newest, but it shouldn't have a problem with regular web browsing.
Is it a bug? like it's not maxing my ram or cpu during use.
If I display (e.g.) Nepal in Google maps, initially the Nepali names appear beneath the Latin alphabet names, but only for a split second. They are then overwritten with unicode block icons. Some scripts work (e.g. Cyrillic, Chinese, Japanese, Armenian), but most south Asian scripts do this weird "works for a split second" rendering.
I'm running 128.8.0esr (64-bit) on Debian 12.
This problem does NOT occur in Safe Mode!
In Normal mode, I disabled all plugins and extensions, but the rendering still breaks.
Any ideas?
The same page renders properly in Chrome 134.0.6998.88
Not sure if this is a Firefox issue or in conjunction with the other system updates.
