I-Firefox Isithangami Sokwesekwa

I received a virus message alert that popped up on my screen. I then hit control alt delete and shut down Firefox, when I reopening it, my bookmarks were gone and not even able to add new bookmarks. An error message stating something like, another program is using the file keeps appearing. I'm able to log into a different computer and my bookmarks are there.

What happened to it? When it was deleted? Why? Is there a way to restore it?

I am trying to find answers in relation to my Favourites shorcuts not showing the Icon for some well known websites e.g BBC World News, CNN. Once answer found on the Firefox Forum is: Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.

Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"

This is just typical of many answers I find on the Firefox forums whereby the suggested solutions seem to bear no resemblance to my Firefox system. Am I using something different? Everything points to me having the latest up to date version of Firefox. For example if I click on the four horizontal line hamburger on top right of the screen I do not see anything that begins with "Tools" in the menu options. I see "Settings" and "More Tools" but none lead to "Options>Content: Fonts & Colors> Advanced: [X]. simarly, If I click on "Tools" in the menu at the top of the Browser nothing leads to "Options". Any suggestions please?

I wish to save my bookmarks in alphabetical order, first the folders and then any bookmarks that have not yet been allocated to a specific folder. This used to be possible as I gave reorganised the older bookmark folders are in alphabeical order previously. This seems to be no longer posible. I can reorganise them in View but cannot save them. Am I doing something wrong? Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance. text

I have some Bookmarks on my laptop. I have some of these Bookmarks (Not all) on my tablet, plus some other Bookmarks.

If I sync them, which direction does the sync work in? Will all my Bookmarks on my laptop now appear on my tablet (Which I do not want to happen)? Will all my Bookmarks on my tablet now appear on my laptop (Which I do want)? Will I end up with two copies of most Bookmarks, because all my laptop Bookmarks are transfered to my tablet, plus all my tablet Bookmarks are transfered to my laptop?

I cannot find any explanatioin of what Sync actually does.

I reset my windows 10 installation thinking that it would be similar to a "backup and restore", but it wasnt. I wiped out nearly everything I had installed.

I hope that can learn how to load bookmarks from saved favorites folder.

i imported Firefox bookmarks to Firefox on another user account and i am not getting thumbnails! Both on bookmark's bar and inside bookmark browser :/

To upload/import bookmarks into Firefox, the file extension of JSON is required. However from old crashed computer, I exported bookmarks in Excel. Please help. Thanks

Firefox has been my default browser for longer than I can remember. Over the years, I have maintained a significant bookmark file for work. I recently purchased a new computer, and my zero bookmarks from the new computer have replaced all of the bookmarks that I had in my old browser. This is a bookmark file that has successfully followed me through multiple computers and even my ios devices. And now it seems to be completely gone. I've looked at the places.sqlite files, and the largest one is 20MB and is in my current default profile, but it is dated today. That makes no sense because I do not have any bookmarks on this older computer, and my new computer doesn't have any either. The bookmarks have also been completely deleted from my iPad, but miraculously are still on my iPhone (evidently I had signed out of Firefox for iPhone at some point so they do exist somewhere.) The thought of trying to rebuild my bookmarks is nauseating. My only thought is to sign out of the browser on all devices, then sign back in and sync on the phone. Would that repopulate the main file with what's on my phone? Any other ideas?

Before, when I started to write an address, firefox did not remember and I have to write it. That was fine. Now, it remembers everything and everything is kept in the history despite I close the private and open it again. Any other person can open the private again and see the last thing you were doing. No real private browsing, no fun

New computer, new Firefox install. Old computer has the Library Icon in the upper right corner when the browser opens. I imported my bookmarks, but can't figure out how to get the Library Icon positioned.

My laptop died. I purchased a new one and pulled the SSD drive from the dead laptop and hooked it up to the new laptop with a SATA to USB cable and have access to the drive now. How do I pull all the information that was in Firefox (bookmarks, open tabs when laptop died, etc.) from the old drive to the new laptop?

After resetting my PC, I reinstalled Mozilla Firefox, but encountered an issue with it. Despite being unsure of the cause, if this problem occurs for a third time, I'm considering discontinuing the use of Firefox and advising others against it. I've lost my bookmarks multiple times, which is concerning. Although I initially attempted to recover my account using my email, I couldn't recall my password. Consequently, I utilized Mozilla's account recovery key. However, even after this process, my bookmarks, which were saved in the toolbar Come back but shortcut labeled "ROW" Bookmarks are not come back. I'm seeking assistance to retrieve them or clarity regarding Mozilla's responsibility in this matter. While apologies are not necessary, I am focused on restoring my bookmarks or exploring options for compensation for the loss incurred.

I searched the forums, and it appears this issue has answers going back 12 years.

Answers explain how to get it to show up again. Basically, it amounts to turning the bar off and back on again.

The problem is it WILL happen again. Why? It's been 12 years and no explanation as to why it happens or how to fix it permanently.

None of the Firefox updates over the years have addressed this either.

Hi, all of my bookmarks, years' worth that I have never had an issue with before, have suddenly disappeared. Backups do not seem to be available. How do I get them back? I did not do anything out of the ordinary and I don't know if (an unasked for) update occurred and wiped them.
